absolutely. Life is too short to do a job you hate. Id rather be with someone following their passion. There is a difference between following a new passioin and being rudderless. I can tell the difference. The latter isnt (wasnt) going to be LTR material for me.

Why not? Who expects anyone in their early 20's to be in their ideal career yet anyway, male or female? This is the time in your life when you're just getting used to adulting and are getting your bearings, probably working in a crappy job while you study to get into something proper.

As long as she has an ambition she is making real steps to work towards that's fine by me.

Now if she was just lazing around doing nothing, or was happy staying in a dead end job forever, then nah.

My fiancee got a psychology degree from Stanford, but then realized she couldn't handle being a counselor and didn't want to spend 7 years in med school. She worked as a personal trainer for a couple of years while researching her options and saving up, and is now starting a master's in public health so she can become a health educator working with patients and at-risk population.

I did something similar: I worked as a computer engineer in financial software for a couple of years, got a business master's, and moved to product management for pharmaceutical software.

Everyone takes risks and tries out different things, if they are able to. I think it's a good idea as long as you weigh your options carefully.

Early 20s is just starting out in life! IMO, if you've started down the wrong path, the sooner you set things straight, the better. You don't want to wake up when you're 50, after working a job you don't like for 25 years, and wish you'd followed your passion instead.

In other cases it takes awhile to figure out what you really want to do. I was in my mid-30s and taking a break from my career when I took a part-time job on a lark. Nearly 15 years later, I'm still working in that field, and love it.

I would. I would marry a chick with no job and no ambitions if she was smart, witty, cute, could hold a conversation, and enjoyed regilar marathon fuck sessions. Ive got a good enough job/side biz to cover everything.

yes, assuming everything else about her was worthy of an LTR. why not? i did similar stuff when i was in my 20s. it's usually better to make changes like that when you're younger and have a lot of flexibility vs coasting along for years in a job you hate and then suddenly having a mid-life crisis.

i'm not going to front her any money or invest in her hair salon or whatever though so i hope that's not why she's gunning for an LTR with me.

I always hear about how women should marry in their early 20’s, but I never hear about how men are willing to accommodate for the fact that most women in their early 20’s are not financially stable yet.

not being financially stable really isn't that big of a deal. but being too old is a complete dealbreaker if the guy is interested in having kids and starting a family.

and a lot of women (and men) never really become truly financially stable.

Men enter relationships with women they don't respect all the time. I don't think career status is viscerally attractive in women like it is in men. Her financial security is a pragmatic and extra benefit of that woman, not a requirement. This is unlike how many women view male career status.

Absolutely. In fact that kind of ambition and way of viewing the world is very attractive. I like girls that 'do something'. Something such as a fashion truck with the goal to open a store one day would be awesome and fun to get behind (as long as the guy isnt financing the excursion as a lost cause).

That is so much more attractive than the type who just want to go out to a bar and get drunk because it's friday or saturday night. I think most men would accommodate with the above as long as it doesnt require them to move, change jobs, or pay for the majority of it. In general men dont care and are supportive even if it means taking a step back career wise for the woman.

I know several executive type men who have wives who quit their jobs to become photographers, writers, etc. It's a luxury and privilege that (in general) women have in relationships. I think you would find much greater difficulty in the opposite.

Not right now, because I'm also in my early 20s and I'm trying to pay off my student loans, get into some awesome (but expensive) hobbies, and buy a house; some chick who doesn't have her shit together will surely make that more difficult in the context of a non-casual relationship.

In 5 years when finances are less of an object I'll probably change my mind. As long as there's no marriage involved.

Uh, Depends on what she wants to go into. Psychology to nursing, yeah no problem. Teacher to fashion truck, fuck no. Girl in school who didn't get grades before, probably not until she graduates and starts her career. Hairstylist, fuck no. The doctor, in a heartbeat.

Most people in their early 20's aren't financially stable. Women do very little to accommodate men. Would you marry an accountant who takes guitar lessons to be a rockstar? Would you marry a teacher who wants to go into early childhood development? Would you marry an electrician who wants to go into logging?

My job is no longer to support her, she needs to support herself. If there is any hint of her not expecting to have a long term career, I wouldn't get near her. Hairstylist is a dead end job, no moving up. Psychology is a too broad. Fashion is a cut throat industry and I know many women who loved it at first but found it too difficult to move up.

I refuse to marry a housewife since the risk of divorce and me paying for her lifestyle is too high. I'm working till the day I die, not only to support myself, but because it helps me improve myself and it's because I love my job. I couldn't give a shit about who supports my partner as long as I have assurance that it won't be me unless I choose it. I expect the same from her, I expect a real commitment. I studied 10 years to have this job, went through 2 universities, college, and a professional designation program. All the while I worked full time and balanced a social life plus family life. I expect no less from her, a fucking "fashion truck" or a brick and mortar clothes shop is a joke. I've managed (through professional consultation) all kinds of businesses, and mom & pop shops (that sell things like clothes, antiques, instruments, tools etc) are a joke. They aren't hard work, they barely qualify as a business.

What are you even talking about, this is percisely 100% of women in this day an age, especially since majority of women get some college degree currently. Go in STEM university -> get married -> become a barista. Go to medical university -> get married -> become a freelance photographer. You get the point. The vast majority of women treat their first "career" as a recreational/entertainment dating ground.

Your question almost boils down to "would you LTR or marry a woman who isn't retarded".

Rule #1: Spend less than you earn.

How much a women makes means fuck all. When I LTR a women, she live under the same roof I live under and sleeps in the same bed I sleep in. Obama did fucking us over by requiring medical insurance, but for people with a full time job, spouses are usually cover. It might cost a few hundred more every month since you have another mouth to feed. That's it. It is not that expensive. If she wants more, the problem is that she wants more. The problem is NOT that she doesn't make enough money. As long as plans for "finding herself" isnt so retarded that it puts her worse off than being straight up unemployed (which is a perfectly good option) then there's not really a problem.
