In all fairness, I would expect nothing else.

I should probably explain this: I would expect no other interpretation from you.

In reality, there's a reason why bouncers, party planner, restaurant managers, salespeople, etc. say "no, not interested." Because it's human psychology to want what you can't have.

Abundance mentality just means "stay or go. I know where I'm going, I like you enough to invite you to join me."

Agree & amplify just means "self deprecating and has a sense of humor."

Working towards your own gains is just smart for everyone - the only person you can count on (until you're married) is you.

Not giving a fuck? Same deal - if a guy I was dating wanted to tuck tail and run, it was no big deal. I might be hurt, but so be it.

where are the ladylike manners in there?

Things like crossing your legs, chewing with you mouth closed, thanking gentlemen who open the door or give up their seat, giving up my seat to the elderly/infirm/pregnant, etc.

Quite honestly, your thoughts are completely foreign to me - I haven't known a single person IRL who thinks the way you do. So I'm essentially trying to make sense of it, which is why I ask for clarification.

I know you're not arguing that women are stupid enough to fall for men's lies thousands of times. Are you?

Women can be as dumb as men can be when it comes to having the wool pulled over their eyes. Lust, attraction, and plain old desperation can wreck havoc on even the most level headed person.

But, no, not thousands. That was hyperbole.

That said, if anyone of either gender managed to date thousands of people, I'd sign up for their time management class in a heartbeat.

But women are smart enough to separate the liars from the truth tellers; the fake from the genuine, right? And we can expect women to wise up and figure it out if they can't, right?

Everyone can be misled, like I said. Most get savvy in their college years or 20s, but there are some particularly good Casanovas in the wild who would fool even the most seasoned sloot.

I think we're closer to agreement than we believe we are right now. What I'm suggesting is that I don't think it's as difficult for women as you're making it out to be, particularly when we know in this SMP/RMP, women hold ALL the cards.

LOL, clearly not. I was talking in generalities there, not specific to this thread.

It's clear that you and I hold different romantic philosophies, which is fine and all.

Engaging with you (as I do often) helps me break out of my world view and re-consider some things. That's why you see me asking for clarification, or chiming in on your posts/replies.

Women and men both get duped and tricked during their dating years.

I chalk it up to life experiences and "live and learn," an important part of wrapping your head around relationships.

A girl friend of mine (in NYC, ha) had been dating a guy for a year and a half. Off and on, but on for at least six months before the incident happened:

She was staying over at his place, and after they were intimate, she got up to put on a tshirt. He'd previously told her to help herself, so she opened his tshirt drawer to find a drawer full of women's clothes.

Turns out, she'd been his side piece and he had just moved the main gf in.

My friend had NO idea. Hell, I'd been to dinner with them, hung out with them at parties, he'd been on group texts and emails about plans - I had NO idea at all.

Some of these guys are just good at playing women.

Be realistic here. Do you really think the point of contention was the existence sexual attraction and shared values? No, I think it's your notion that all a woman has to do to get a "high value, non-doormat man" is to find a man she's attracted to and who she shares values with an then "Give that man whatever he wants".

(Anticipating possible responses) What happens if what the man wants is casual sex and not a relationship with her? Giving him what he wants isn't going to get her what she wants. You could say "if he's not interested in relationships then he doesn't share her values", but maybe he is interested in relationships, just not with her. You could say "if he's interested in casual sex then he doesn't share her values", but maybe she has no value against casual sex, she just wants more with him. You could then say "if he doesn't want a relationship with her then she doesn't share her values" but then you're just putting everything under "values" and hand-waving it away as "just make sure you have the same values".

I think I was thinking about those things that are not stereotypically associated with introverts.

Additionally, women generally express dominance differently from men. They are much more likely to wield 'soft power', which often comes from being warm, outgoing, and well-liked.

My wife has never, ever been accused of being a bitch. Ever. By anyone. Despite the fact that she is assertive as hell, gets bored easily and can be impulsive, has no patience for weakness or indecisiveness, and can and does get away with murder (figuratively, of course). No one sees her as anything but this sweet, bubbly, sunny, cute girl, even as she is plowing over them like a bulldozer or making them dance like a puppet on a string.

It sucks for me, in a way - if we ever have problems, everyone always takes her side immediately, almost reflexively, and gives her the benefit of the doubt, lol. She can do no wrong (which has also helped her career immensely, too), and no one can understand how I could see anything differently. That's fucking power...

Why not? Amongst women, I think soft-power is what elevates a woman above her peers.

And I don't think 'soft-power' precludes ever being confrontational (especially to other women), and being 'nice' has nothing to do with power, soft or otherwise.

If someone doesn't have power, being nice isn't going to give them power. If they already have power, then being nice is seen as generosity and benevolence.

Male dominance is, for sure. I don't think women dominate others the way men do. They find other ways.

I mean, I think one of the biggest mistakes of feminism was to adopt the idea that 'masculine power' is the only legit form of power, and that, if you want to be powerful or dominant, you have to be like a man or be masculine.

Yep. I know that sort of thing very well. As I said elsewhere, she is the WaW Effect incarnate.

But, at least with her, it goes beyond just presenting herself as feminine. I believe there is a whole lack of self-consciousness and a (at least seeming) lack of guile and agenda that helps her pull it off.

It's like when a little kid says to someone, 'Hey! Why are you so fat?' or something. While it's certainly an uncomfortable moment for everyone (everyone except the kid, of course), people tend to not take offense and will even engage in a conversation about how they are so fat. It's like that. Only way crazier, because it is this adult woman pulling off the exact same sort of thing.

Since becoming a parent, I've been observing that little kids are very much like little psychopaths ('cause they are in a lot of ways, due to the developmental process - that's not a knock on kids). My wife is a very similar sort of psychopath, I swear...

Well, my son isn't an actual psychopath, either. Logically because 'psychopathy' is more a term of art than an actual diagnosable condition (IIRC, psychopathy is a popular term for the more clinical diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder, which encompasses a range of behaviors), but more importantly, because I know he feels deeply about things and is a loving kid. So neither of them pose much threat, to my eyes.

On top of that, all the antisocial behaviors exist on a spectrum - we are all narcissists, for example, it's just when narcissism reaches a certain critical msss it becomes an actual personality disorder. My wife has accused me of being a narcissist or having many narcissistic tendencies on several occasions, and she's not entirely wrong, even though I know for fact that I do not suffer from NPD (she agrees in her less frustrated moments, and I have three clinical therapists and my own research to confirm my assertion). So I get to call her a psychopath, lol...

It's my wife's seemingly complete freedom from being inhibited by self-doubt, guilt, and shame (a state foreign to me, as I grew up with a mother whose stock and trade was guilt and shame), much like a child, that has me make that comparison. She has, for example, never been violent or malevolent (she's never had the need to be, given her general powers of persuasion), even as she is very assertive and fearless in confrontations.

I don't agree that most women who are ''dominant'' are exercising ''soft-power'' in the traditional sense of non-violent power, generally speaking.

Most of the actual dominant women I know are not violent, and most of the 'violent' women I know are not dominant (they are domineering, controlling, etc, but that's not dominant).

But I don't think their power is achieved through ''being nice''.

No one's power is achieved through being nice.

I know a lot of really nice women. They are very popular because they're nice.

I would say that dominant people tend to be popular (rising to the top of the social ladder generally requires others to support you on the way), but not all popular people are dominant.

The other problem here is that 'nice' is way too vague of a term. What it means depends entirely on context.

As long as you love her?

Given that the comparison was being made to my son, who is at the very center of my entire universe, I would say that it certainly wouldn't be an indication of any lack of love...

I feel essentially the same way. That's why I actually like 'shit tests' - it tells me that the interest is there. All I then have to do is 'pass' (with flying colors, hopefully) and I stand a good chance of getting what I want, lol. Perhaps it kind of suits my often more passive/reserved nature.

Um, yeah, I've never gone that far, lol, and rarely have I allowed it to go that far.

Take this for what it is worth, but one thing that I find problematic of teasing that can cut deep is that it normalizes such interactions. There may come a point when the 'playful teasing' can become more serious and 'real', because everyone is so accustomed to saying and hearing those 'cuts' back when they weren't meant significantly.

That's at least what has happened to me - my wife used to joke all the time about me being 'like a child' (in various ways). Which was all fine and good, but as the relationship developed more problems, the 'little bit of truth in every joke' became more 'a lot of truth and a lot less joke.' YMMV, of course, but it is something to keep in mind.

Perhaps I'm failing to distinguish clearly between shit tests and comfort tests then.

My wife is rarely actually vulnerable. If she's being vulnerable and revealing something painful or a real insecurity, that is what occurs like a comfort test, and I usually take it fairly seriously and respond in kind. I can't imagine being snarky or jokey in the face of that. I'm not going to tell her to 'man up' when she needs comfort - she's a woman.

But if it's the 'But do you really love me?' or 'But you're happy with me, right?'-type thing, then yeah, that's a shit test, as far as I'm concerned, and I respond exactly as you describe (always have, incidentally - that isn't something I learned from RP). It's nearly impossible for me not to respond like that, even now when I'm definitely off my game.

I'm like that. Every guy who actually embodies RP or masculinity should be like that. I mean, that's the whole basis for 'overcoming LMR' - you don't ever get sucked into playing their game. You won't like it, they won't like it, everyone loses.

It's like a woman who doesn't at least play hard to get a little bit. It's just not feminine and it's too easy. There is no 'conquering' involved, so it's boring. Every girl needs to run at least some game.

You can't just roll over every time a woman asks you to do so - they'll get bored.

Chicky cheese

Is that like Chucky Cheese, except a more target-rich environment?

But, yeah, I take my son to Chucky Cheese occasionally. That place is a horror show. I usually have to drink three or four beers just to deal.

I don't think I could run game there at all just due to the overstimulating cacophony (regardless of how much beer I consume), but even if I could, I've never seen anyone who was even remotely not-disgusting there (regardless of how much beer I consume), so I wouldn't ever need to try. It's usually like a live-action 'People of Wal-Mart' extravaganza (or, like a trip to an actual Wal-Mart, I suppose).

Which is weird, honestly, because I would think that non-total-ghetto-trash parents would also want their kids to have fun at a place like Chucky Cheese occasionally ('cause my son does have a blast). It makes me wonder if there is some place that is like Chucky Cheese but less trashy where normal people take their kids, and I just haven't discovered it yet or something.

If there is a technique that only works on women what is it and why is it exclusive to gender?

Of the many, preselection. Preselection is the idea that someone becomes more attractive because other people are attracted to them. This works to seduce women because women are social/group oriented, and if a bunch of women like this guy then they must see something of value in him. Queue tingles. This doesn't work on men because men don't generally care how many other people find a woman attractive. They are either attractive or not. If anything, a bunch of other men going for a woman is an indicator of harsh competition and will dissuade the average guy.

So no, if a woman were to use RP techniques then they would "work" to the degree that thirsty men will tolerate them.
