It's not just because 'sex is harder to get'.

It's also because attitudes to sex have changed and there is less social stigma about something like this.

Also, not that long ago only a very small percentage of the population could have afforded to travel abroad.

But the article is still interesting. I always thought that you had to be disillusioned to pay hookers for sex. Like divorced guys and dead bedroom guys.

And I think that more and more guys are becoming disillusioned even at a younger age.

The red pill might not be mainstream yet, but I do sense a bit of an awakening.

Men start to question the "women are wonderful" narrative. "Sex is something special you have with somebody you love" is losing its appeal, too. Especially for guys who see that there is a hookup scene they will never be a part of.

If it's true that more and more men are paying for sex, I'd say that it's a logical reaction of men who see that the odds on the casual sex scene are stacked against them.

It's like these days it's normal for blokes in the UK to go on holiday to Amsterdam, smoke some weed, and hit up the Red Light District. It's like why the fuck not? It's on your doorstep, it's all legal, it's fun, and "what happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam" eh, when you're on holiday you can lower your inhibitions and do things you wouldn't do at home.

Seems to me the obvious answer is the younger generation is less sexually conservative than the older one and they wanna get easy sex while they're on holiday. And while using escorts is legal in the UK it's still looked down on in the culture, but if you travel to the Red Light District it's just a bit of fun innit.

I think because younger people are more likely to travel - and therefore have access to these places. And more western women are busy studying/building careers and not settling down as young. Therefore - more men are free to do as they please.

Most women wouldn't put up with their husband or boyfriend doing this, so it would mostly be men who don't have wives or girlfriends. I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe if they have trouble getting sex back at home, this helps fill that void. As long as they use proper protection, they might be okay. (Condoms don't prevent catching genital herpes from a woman).

Its a combo of cheaper travel and difference of availability.

In the US, outside of Vegas, you are unlikely to ever see or be approached by a sex worker out in the open. Secondly, no one really talks about it openly. Even backpage is getting busted. So to put it simply, paying for a sex is a non-standard behavior that's not easily accessed.

In these countries like costa rica and thailand, its normal and well tolerated, and as easy to buy as booze from the grocery store. It's an available option, and easily available.

it has always been my observation most men simply are not "sleeping around"

in college, most guys wore ugly graphic tees and looked (and behaved) like little boys while the few genetic lottery winners had regular "hookups", the rest of us just drank in suasage fest parties.

as an adult, I notice most men who are having sex are either married or in ltrs, single men are just hoping to land a ltr.

i've said it before, if we had a real study (no self reporting bullshit ethical studies) 1 in 5 men are incel, easily

note, I also think women's sexual history would be lower, both sexes lie. I don't even think sluts exists as much as we say they do on the internet.

I think a more plausible explanation is that there's no real shift in the guys going out there, this article is just manufacturing a story for clicks. They don't present any compelling evidence.

Wow this is fascinating, I didn't realize this was occurring. Comes across to me as the natural result of a more isolated society with shame regarding sex being much less common, plus men being exhausted with fighting through all the walls women put up. Not having a family and a mortgage also means more money to spend on travel as well. I think if prostitution was fully legalized in the US you'd see massive societal shifts.

Also, I could see myself doing something like this if my life went in a certain direction. But I would go all in, four or five girls at once or something crazy like that.

With social media and dating sites like pof and tinder women get all the validation they need, which makes it very hard for the average guy today.

I started using escorts when I was 19, most sex workers are okay with it but I have been refused for being too young a few times lol. As for sex tourism, guys go overseas to sleep with women they could never pull back home it's that simple.

In the age of online dating the 80/20 concept(no I don't know the exact number of 80/20 is true) becomes much more prevalent. More fat schlubs out there than ever before that can't get any tail for one reason or another. It's probably a combination of these 2 things.

I think it's due to a shift of these holidays becoming more popular for young people, especially university students. I know that when I was at university in the UK, party/highly sexed holidays to Thailand or Amsterdam were seen as a typical "lads' holiday" and the norm.
