Something I have seen talked about on here, and I have both personally observed in myself and many other guys in college, is that men underestimate the SMV or attractiveness of women. They judge a woman's attractiveness based on what they( the man ) think of the woman, not what the men around her think of her.

We can think of attractiveness in two ways. One is what we, as an individual think of someone, and the other is what a collective group of people, or one's social circle think of someone. The two of these ways together is what makes up one's SMV.

Now let's go back to thinking about this in a college setting. One thing to keep in mind in college is that, a lot of guys want to have sex. They want to get laid, and hook up. In a group of girls and guys, a girl who is a 6, say a slim girl with pretty hair, and a cute butt, is going to have a majority of the guys around her attracted to her. By contrast though, a guy who is a 6, probably won't have the majority of girls attracted to him, because the girls have more options.

When we see a nerd/introvert complaining how the women who are his equal in attractiveness don't like him, we have to consider the options the woman has vs the options the man has, and who was more people attracted to them. In a college setting, I believe girls have an inflated SMV, simply because sex is very sought after for guys in college.
