I don't think that non-offending paedophiles who don't contribute to the child porn industry are inherently evil, though I couldn't date one for personal reasons, but it's disingenuous to compare them to rape victims.

Someone who suffers from PTSD, whether it's from rape or combat, isn't necessarily going to have potentially destructive and/ or harmful desires, whereas a paedophile by definition will. If someone doesn't want to date someone with a history of violent/ harmful desires or outbursts then I would consider that fair, even if those things weren't necessarily the fault of the person who was subjected to the traumatic event in the first place, but there's no guarantee that someone with PTSD will have those, which is why it's wise to take these things on a case by case basis.

Look, if TRP can teach you only one thing, it would be nullius in verba. The other thing would be - it doesn't matter WHAT you do, but WHY and HOW IT LOOKS. This is especially true for women and women-like creatures (BP males). You can see that in sexual objectification versus sexual empowerment - both are the same thing, but differ in intent.

Now, suppose that there are two men - both refuse to date rape victims. First one says - "women who get raped are damaged goods, and a huge load of mental instability and baggage I can't deal with". Second one says - "women who had been raped can have significant trauma and stress, as this is pretty horrifying thing to go through. I do not think I can cope with that and give such a person emotional stability and comfort she needs, and it would be dishonest of me to lead her on."

Both men do the same thing - avoid involvement with rape victims. Strip the language and both men said the same thing - women who had been raped have developed trauma, I cannot deal with that.

Yet the second one said it nicer. It might be boggling to you that X needs to be sugarcoated in Y in order to be X, but this is how emotion-prone people think by default. Can you convince them to drop the sugar coat? Yes - but this requires mental effort on their part that they simply do not see as valid. Just like you don't see why it's necessary to wrap things up in nice coat - but if you made an effort, you might.

Well, first, most rape victims are faking anyway. She says she got raped but it's actually most likely that she got drunk and had sex with someone she didn't want to. Hardly something to be traumatized about.

It's not always 'of course not their fault' either.

But otherwise good argument.
