The term I would use to describe how women describe themselves by that study is objectifying. Funny how feminist will scream at men for being the culprits of that. Women objectify themselves, if there were no men would women wear makeup? If there were no men would women wear high heels and dresses? If there were no men to objectify and corrupt true "womanhood" would women go to salons? If not then Does the female peacock not "objectify" the male peacock when he struts his feather? They can't argue with biology there. Physically Objectifying is part of nature. To be fair, that isn't exactly what the data is showing. It is showing the highest outliers between the two sets of data, not the most common.

That is what the x-axis means: male/female ratio and vice versa.

I.e., on the female graph, we see the words that are more common on female profiles than on male profiles. So you aren't necessarily saying that women on OKC are all 'Girly, Sassy, BBWs' but that women are 13/12/8% more likely to refer to themselves as such.

Additionally, since the statistics come from 39k/58k female/male profiles, and the words only have to have an occurrence of 100 times (but 25 on each profile) the lowest actual occurrence one could see (on the aggregate of the 39k female profiles) would be...

Girly - 342
Sassy - 307
BBW - 195
Mommy - 140

etc. (you just multiple the number at the end of the bar by 25, which is the minimum of times it can occur on the opposite sex's data set)

All told, most of those items then make sense. Women refer to their bodies more than men, because it is what is their SMV currency. Men refer to their accomplishments/hobbies more than women, because that is what it their main SMV currency.

Pretty straightforward.

The real outliers I see, once you think about the data like this, are

Ladies - This one is just sad. It is the largest outlier of being a word mainly men use. Meaning women RARELY think about themselves this way. Women, conversely, are 'sassy and girly' not lady-like. This is a perfect example of putting the pussy on a pedestal, i.e. artifically inflating the value of a woman just because she has a vagina. They don't even think of themselves as such, just regular people. They aren't all ladies, guys. Especially not the ones on OKC.
Transgender - I can't imagine this was used all that often by either group (save your tumblerista CIS-hate bullshit, this is a minority group). But the preponderance of women using it instead of men is strange. Especially since the data set says that it is from straight m/f profiles. I can see the case of M->F transgender (which is overwhelmingly more prevalent), making the case for this, and this just being an obvious descriptor of the person, i.e. 'I am a M->F transgender'. But, I would think that should have been culled from the dataset, much like the minority sexual orientations were.
Women really think men like baking.
Guys really think women like music.

Other than that, the basic assumption that men and women both understanding, intrinsically, what they bring to the sexual marketplace, (Beta Buxx and cheap trim), is pretty much held up.

Interesting that transgender is so high up on the ladies list, they must include male-to-female trans and other not born female profiles in the results. In my opinion, that means the data is tainted right out of the gate.

I have an OKC profile that I haven't updated in months but still get visitors to. I've noticed an upkick in trans and gay dudes visiting my profile and sending messages, despite the profile specifically saying I'm not into either.

As someone pointed out this doesn't tell us much. Still I'd bet that if you read the profiles you'd probably see a bunch of women basically saying I'm a sassy BBW (disrespectful abd lazy ) mother looking for a guy who is taller than me (need a dude to pay for my kids and he needs to be good looking too). That really doesn't matter, but the sad part is if you read the guy's you'd basically see guys lining up for this misery by writing about their profession, which is basically saying "BTW, I do have the means to pay for your shit". That is unless you actually think women are reading "engineer" and thinking, "hmmm, I am interested in how things are built, now I've finally found a guy who can explain it to me."

The problem with this is that it should show differences by age range. Of course, I haven't done any scientific study, but I've seen literally thousands of profiles in the 5 years I've been on OKC, and date regularly in the full range from 20's to 50's. So all this is anecdotal.

I'm sure if they'd used, say, the 40's as a range, then "mom" would be higher, and "children" would at least appear, probably rather well up the list. As would (at least in the LA area) "yoga", "hiking", "spiritual".

For 20's, it'd be "shopping" (that appears as an "interest" (gag!) in so many younger profiles). Heh.

It seems to depend on where they are in the lifecycle that Rollo describes. The strategy changes at different times in their lives.

I have engineer in mine, but while I am a fairly serious musician I avoid bringing it up in my profile since it evokes negative connotations (let's face it, most "musicians" are failed musicians still living with their parents). Instead I mention things that confirm social proof: a love of dinner parties, barbeques, travel, holidays etc (whether or not they are really true).

With regards to lifting, it's best to play down whatever lifting you do. Just mention that you like weightlifting and leave it at that, no "gym is my life" nonsense. Women can get away with it since fit women are desirable, but women want a man who looks like he is gym obsessed without being gym obsessed (make sense of that). Besides, if you have a physique then you can let your pictures do the talking. If you look DYEL then don't even mention lifting, you will look stupid.

Other good things to emphasise are independence qualities. Mention your love for cooking for yourself and others. If you live in your own place mention that (but don't go on about your car, women don't care so long as you have one).

For photos, I think we all know by now what is good and bad. The uglier you are, the more conscious you need to be of your pictures. Group photos with women are best. Group pics with men good. 3rd person solo photos in public next best. Photos DOING outdoors things are great. Pictures from travelling are great. Photos with animals are great (if you have no friends, take photos with your dog). Selfies are only passable if you are attractive. Topless photos are ok in the right context (swimming, climbing etc). Topless selfies are ok ONLY if you have an extremely good physique (chances are you do not if you are natural, sorry). Avoid gym selfies at all costs.

(Basically, the more attractive you are, the less social proof you need in your pictures).

I've had quite a bit of success on OKC, and I dated an OKC moderator in 2013 for a year which was enlightening. I know people want to believe otherwise but 90% of your success is in your pictures. If you have great attractive pictures then it almost doesn't matter what you fill in.

You interpreted this study wrong. It is that these words are more likely to be used in the profile of the gender specified than the other.

Exl. A man is very unlikely to use "sassy" or "mommy" in their profile, whereas a woman is likely.

These are the most "polar" words, not a sum of their usage.

And a PSA to everyone (not that I have much claim to say this) but stop "looking" for reinforcement of what we learn here and succumbing to confirmation bias. The only useful facts are those that are true true.
