I think his family background has more to do than just ethnicity. An Asian guy raised by lawyer parents would be different from an Asian guy raised by restaurant owner parents, just to say. Also, these trash, cheating men exist in every race.

I’m also Asian and from my very limited dating experience, I feel more comfortable dating Asian guys because I would never ever worry about them fetishizing my race. And that’s a big deal for me because Asian fetishization is so fucking disgusting and so many people seem to have it, and they don’t usually display it at first. I’m tired of beginning to like someone, only to find out he’s a fucking racist. So with Asian men, I could have the peace of mind at least.

I don’t think it’s my place to comment on other races, so that’s all I have.

I think that culture can play a role, but no culture I know of is safe from misogyny, I’m afraid. Avoiding divorce to save face has been a common phenomenon in many unhealthy, South Asian couples I know. The same is true in other Asian cultures as well, from speaking with East and Southeast Asian friends. In fact, in many Asian cultures, the lack of support as a single woman and the amount of social censure you’ll have to deal with if you ever have to leave or divorce an incompatible man makes the risk of marrying into these cultures much, much higher IMO.

I'm originally from a Middle Eastern country. I was even married to a man from my home country.

I can tell you that most men from this region will be possessive, jealous, controlling and misogynistic. The society will treat men like kings because of culture and religion, and women are second class citizens at most. When you marry, you marry into your husband's family and are expected to be their servant. You will have no freedom or space to express what you think and how you feel. You will be expected to bare children as soon as possible, quit your job and become a house wife.

Oh but before marriage, Middle Eastern men are such sweet talkers. They will do all kinds of romantic shit, promise you false things and never reveal their true intentions. Once you are bound by the marriage contract, good luck getting out. You can't pay me to date a man from this background.

I mean "Asian Men" is broad. For having dating men from different cultures and ethnicities, I don't think it's men per see that are different - I do think FDS fit all men because it is fitted with the core of patriarchy- but dating culture. For example I've lived in Japan. The dating culture there is something else.... I won't go into details but every western woman who has dated there knows. There is something important to know about it : the dating culture has only existed for 50-70 years so it is relatively new. Before that the majority of men were in arranged marriage. No dating phase, barely any chasing, it was mostly political games for the families. I think the dating culture is what matters. Because you'll also find different values depending on whether a man grew up in a big city or not, etc.

I'm south Asian. Although conservative they have no problem fulfilling the role of providers because thats our culture. A lot of guys still wont fit that role. But its a culture thing so demanding and getting a provider is easier.

Hmmm, so I think you ask a very good question which I often wonder myself. It's true that men of certain cultures are more family-oriented (Asian, Hispanic, etc). However, I don't necessarily think that coming from a family-oriented culture equates to being HV. Family-oriented and conservative Asian men often hold highly patriarchal values (I have often heard this is true of Korean/Japanese men; don't have personal experience to confirm).

I have dated men of a range of cultural backgrounds. I have encountered LVM from a range of cultural backgrounds. I've noticed they express their LV in different ways.

For example, the Caucasians I've dated tended to be sweet talkers (on par with the culture of sugarcoating I suppose), whereas Asians are usually not raised to be that way. I dated a South Asian who lied about his resume to try to make himself seem more impressive. An East Asian told me he "might be falling in love with me" on our first date. I guess they're different but ultimately the same (lmao I didn't have a plan when I started this post).

So I think HV/LV doesn't come down to race as much as gender. That being said, there are always potential issues to be aware of when considering interracial dating (fetishization, cultural differences, etc).

I have lived in a very international city and dated men from all over the world with an exception of very religious/conservative countries because this is not a fit for me.

And I came to the conclusion that men at their core function ALL the same, no matter which culture they grew up in. This is just the surface.

To go for a certain culture and hope this will guarantee a better relationship and higher quality of men is prone to fail IMO.

I would do the opposite - don't look for which country a guy is coming from at all and vet only for HVM traits. This will be much more successful.

I can say that the men in my culture are trash, but I know of women from various other cultures who say their men are trash. I just know that all men are trash. Interracial and intercultural dating probably won’t help because HVM are not common in all groups.

I have a lot of difficulty with this. I'm an American Latina who grew up steeped in white culture. I'm also physically attracted to men who don't look like me. I have dated men who were Hispanic---even Americanized Hispanic---and the misogyny is real. And so much commentary about other women's bodies, right in front of me. Lots of cheating too, refusal to acknowledge or treat their mental issues but call me crazy for disagreeing while every female relative waits on them like a prince, etc.

I could never say this in public because I'd get called horrible names, but it's true. I'm well aware this can happen with any ethnicity and many white men are this way too, but this is my experience.

My problem is, most white men that I'm attracted to do not date me. They never say it's because I'm Latina, but I feel like it's unspoken. And it's ironic because I don't have an accent, don't cling, etc. I haven't actively dated in 3 years but when I did, they would always ditch me for the lamest reasons. "I'm not looking for a relationship right now"; "You're a great girl, but I need to focus on my work/school, etc right now"; etc. And they will literally shack up with a clingy, controlling, Instagram and meme-obsessed woman who doesn't work out and is white, 99% of the time. It's tres frustrating. I'm not attracted to men of my own ethnicity because they remind me of my father.

I'd never date a very religious guy, but especially not a Muslim or even one of those Jehova witnesses or Mormons. Among Hispanic men they tend to either be HVM (rare as usual), or they're incredibly misogynistic. Southern Europe still has a lot of sexism but even the men there were surprised of some stuff that came from Latin America. Southern European men though, a lot of them are very macho, even if they say they're leftist. They're also really concerned with looking cool, and will use women as arm candy.

I live in the UK now and as far as I've seen men seem less insecure, they're not encouraged as much to fuck anything that moves in their youth, and take me seriously when I speak. The last point was the biggest difference for me, in Southern Europe men didn't even pretend to only half listen to you. Not all of them obviously but enough that it was a common occurrence. Others were extremely critical of whatever you said, especially if it was a serious topic. In the UK I've never experienced that.

I’m a woc who grew up in a predominately white environment. I love and am proud of my ethnicity and heritage but my mannerisms, way of dressing, and speech is very much that of the white culture I was raised in.

I only date white people or poc who have similar backgrounds as me. Men from my culture by and large don’t even want to date me because I’m not ethnic enough for them.

As a middle eastern girl I wouldn’t ever date/marry someone middle eastern. They may be more family oriented but it’s only because society wants them to be, not their hearts’ desire. A lot of them cheat and chase other women after marriage and there’s little to no consequences. You will be shocked due to the amount of misogynistic views towards women ( in summary: a redpilled asshole but everyone cheers them)

I think high self esteem , confidence etc is a great buffer to a LVM of any race . X

I’m white with Eastern European immigrant parents. Most of my exes are Canadian/American (several generations living in North America) and these guys were LVM. My one HVM ex also has Eastern European immigrant parents. Maybe because we had a similar cultural background, we were raised with similar values and how to treat your partner when it comes to relationships.
