Last night I went on a first date at a very nice, upscale restaurant, suggested by the man. I wore a nice dress, curled my hair, put jewelry and makeup on, and overall put effort into my appearance.

He showed up in cargo shorts, a T-shirt, a backwards baseball cap, and hadn’t had a haircut in months. Regardless of if every single other aspect would have been perfect, not even being able to make yourself look presentable on a FIRST DATE was the only indicator I needed that there would be no second date. I mean, it’s not like men are expected to wear makeup or do much with their hair. It’s literally just the difference between wearing a nicer pair of jeans and a button up and not putting a hat on.
