Romantic relationships are often portrayed as the end all be all of interacting with other people. In pop culture and society in general, romantic love is pretty much assumed to be interwoven with any life goal a person may have (only occasionally overshadowed by familial love in certain scenarios).

Noticeably, friendship (platonic love) often is tossed by the wayside in the face of romance. A lot of times, people will stop talking to their friends when they get in a relationship and only return once said relationship is over. A good number of people think (non-related) men and women can't just be friends due to the nature of sexual attraction. Now that the world is so interconnected and technology so advanced, a person can survive on their own without having to have any community or even friends. There's not much cultural incentive to keep working on a friendship at the first sign of not clicking. If people don't go out of their way to keep in touch, they and their friends don't have much glue keeping them together that they don't make themselves.

So, going with that, what do you think would happen if platonic friendships suddenly became as, if not more, glorified as romantic relationships?
