Anytime a man says something about wanting to be your friend, he's lying.

If he really wants to be simply a friend it will come naturally without him having to say anything about it. If he brings it up he's lying and hoping the "friend" word will get your guard down.

ETA: The only man who ever said "I want to be your friend" to me did so after trying to physically restrain me from leaving a party without him (we had literally just met and I wasn't interested whatsoever). I then blocked him on Facebook. He tried to add me on LinkedIn. Blocked him there. Next time I ran into him he asked why I wouldn't add him. I told him he made me uncomfortable and walked away. Also found out he had a wife in another country.
