Meredith is the definitive Pickme. She literally has a pick me speech. I loved Greys Anatomy when it first came out but even this scene made me cringe.

I know it's written by a woman but it feels like a man's fantasy. Another beautiful, successful career woman falls for the inappropriate antics of a man much older than her. Derek Shepherd is called "McDreamy"????? More like McCreepy. I don't know why the entire hospital acts like he's super cute; he's just some dude.

Grey’s Anatomy is one of those shows that show you what not to do when it comes to men and romantic relationships. I used to watch it as a kid and even back then I found Meredith’s behavior annoying and desperate.

Christina was the only queen. There, I said it. But she freaking was. Everyone tried to make her feel like she was wrong for wanting to live her dream and fight for it, even Burke and Owen shamed her for not wanting a kid when she clearly said she didn't want one from the beginning. She is a freaking badass boss of a woman that also had tremendous growth over the series.

Everyone else, sorry to all of you that love 'em, are LVMs and LVWs that need to get it together. Their lives are utter messes because they don't take self-responsibility. I can't watch this show anymore.

And, can't watch any shows anymore really. I just refuse to put these crap messages in my mind anymore. I want to believe I'm powerful, and I am, but I don't want my mind to have to constantly filter out this emotional shit TV projects.

Anyhoo, YES Derek Shepherd is a LVM.

I’m also watching Grey’s and love the medical plotlines, but the men drive me insane. My boyfriend knows Shepherd is called “McDreamy” but he refers to him as “McShit” and I laugh every time he says it 😂

Television has evolved from many troupes. One such is the "Women in fridge" troupe where a woman is "fridged" to motivate a male protagonist into action through the emotional manipulation of her death or rape. She simply freezes herself in time to motivate a main male character's journey.

Originally used for superheroes, it is very common in a lot of movies. Especially in dramas where a woman will wait for a man to love her. Or accept whatever a man puts her through for a tiny hope he will marry her after years of disrespect. She is usually beautiful and that makes her "worth it", an object for the male gaze and rarely a protagonist until recent times. This is just how television works because there are more people who watch than not.

This is what the majority of people want to watch, like it or not so this is what will be created. It is a formula that has worked for decades since mass medial entertainment was first created. Unfortunately, most movies have not evolved much with the recent times. If there's no money to be made (views) then that is the only way the narrative changes.

I stopped watching because the whole love situation was just stupid. I remember when the wife came back I was like I’m extra out. Like we sharing them now? No, this cant be it.

Even worst, I remember right before that season, I had dumped a guy for telling me he was fighting with his baby mother in the street because his daughter was holding her new boyfriend hand. he asked why I still didn’t want to be with him. I was like I am not Meredith Grey, I’m out. Shonda can keep her pick me agenda.

Wait till you go further into the show. This is one of my favorites to watch and yell at.
