P.S. Check out these subreddits. They always need more feminists willing to argue for women's rights without bigotry and censorship to back them up. Censorship on these is to silence sexism and bigotry not reinforce it.

The problem here is that they control the narrative at the moment. Most mainstream media will view things in a feminist or that the very least mild feminist lens. When you control the narrative you can be this dismissive. This is what humans are like. Most of the people on this sub seem pretty well rounded but bet your bottom dollar that if MRAs controlled the mainstream narrative they'd do the same thing. I think when a movement gets power it attracts people who are power hungry.

Odds are you're calling yourself a feminist because of them perceived social value you expect to receive by calling yourself such. I've come to find that most people who call themselves feminists because they believe in equality of opportunity, and a level playing field for the two genders call themselves feminists because they're unaware of the real damage feminism had done to family and relationship dynamics the world over.

Until people drop the feminist label and begin using egalitarian ones, the extremist feminists who are interested in literally enslaving men and boys will continue to push their agenda with your support.

The reason you are not comfortable with everything here is that in order to prevent bias in moderation nothing that does not risk the sub getting banned is deleted.

This sub is a diverse mix of ideas and ideologies and I sure as hell do not agree with everyone here. In fact, there are some people here from subs that I'm permabanned on for allegedly being a simp after I criticized them.

Another Issue will be terminology. Some here strongly reject the term toxic masculinity, how it is used and to a degree how it is commonly defined in literature yet do strongly oppose "toxic gender roles" (do not use that term either) though as these are called misogyny when harming women, they accurately call them misandry and internalized misandry when harming men. Anything else is portraying men's issues as a mere parody of those of women.

It is far too much to really go into depth on this, but unfortunately some have things completely twisted about some of us.

You may like the following - a bit more progressive - sub, though beware that the term feminist will probably never go down well in spaces that actually care about men as many of us had horrible experiences when we still called ourselves feminists:

By definition, your title is right. And by definition, I am as well. But I feel like what happens a lot is words lose their meanings, and shift for a more cultural one. And I think that's what happened to feminism.

I would argue at most very little people on this sub do not agree with equal rights for men and women. I would argue at least most people on this sub would like to see a world with near true equality of opportunity. However, that just isn't what you see regarding most mainstream forms of feminism. The subreddits you mentioned are prime examples of that.

I think egalitarian suits most ppl here. I find some are a little to harsh on the ladies but I know all too well the pain they can cause. I want the best for both genders. I think man or woman we all need to treat others with respect, understanding, and care. We are supposed to lift others up not put ppl down.

I must say that I emphatically disagree with your decision to identify as feminist before the politicians of our day who continue to make deadly legislation concerning and domestic violence and divorce (among other issues). However, if you wish to persist down that path, you may wish to check out "Who Stole Feminism?" by Christina Hoff Sommers, as she seems to have a similar view as yourself.

And I urge some of you here to be more open-minded too.

Feminists are extremists who believe they should be allowed to control which women men are attracted to. They're always outraged that men are most attracted to young women, something that is biological and can't be helped. If a white man is attracted to an Asian women, maybe she's simply attractive, and it's not a fetish at all. Calling that attraction a fetish is an absurd abuse of that word. A fetish is the attraction to something non-human such as a paddle, a diaper, the act of spanking, or the act of being bound. By calling a man's attraction to an Asian woman a "fetish," she's being a racist by seeing the Asian woman as less than human.
