I thought those two girls didn't get any time for killing that guy.

Just probation.

But since it was underage girls that killed him.

No time.

[–]MrWhy1 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The older girl just got sentenced to 6 years (until she turns 21.) The younger girl who was 13 I think hasn't been sentenced yet

I think topic like racism should not discussed in men's right ,it breaks the unity among men.

[–]goback2halfchan 47 points48 points49 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think racial identity politics devide the unity between everybody not just men, its what it's purposely designed to do, with years of experience of feminists using sexual identity politics, people in the men's right movement would realise this? The more they devide us into groups the less likely we are to unite together and they know, so don't fall for it.

[–]Legitimate-Ad-6267 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly there's no reason to bring up how much melanin you have at all when speaking politically, and one of the larger reasons racism is still a problem is "race" is a driving factor.

[–]Hsinimod -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You were so honest and open, that you got downvoted.

At least this guy understands why he's comfortable talking about some subjects, and politely avoidant about subjects that he's not aware affect him.

Shmockyy, self awareness is beautiful. Hopefully you feel comfortable talking about those other opinions eventually, in safe environments that teach and not ridicule.

[–]No-Assignment4583 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

dude. no i'm sorry, both these fucking "honest and open" rants are drilled into men, specifically white men in universities. You're constantly told that you cannot speak about racism or sexism though you are the accused and you're verbally beat into submission to hate yourself and your race. Even if you're a fucking ginger ass irishman who's ancestors were used to work above croc infested water in savannah ga because if they put a black person in that job they might lose him and a black man was worth more than an irishman.

it's not self awareness, it's regurgitating talking points that invalidate others so whatever bullshit pop activism is going on at the time can succeed.

even if you grew up middle upper class or upper class (i didn't- so hear me out) your experience matters. it matters as a man, and as a race. don't ever hate your position in society because someone else can't have it. Maybe your grandparents were immigrants and worked hard every god damn day, made it big and now you spend your summers in the hamptons. good. your family probably deserves it because someone back when was smart with money and provided for you. Maybe you come from old money- fuck you probably have a good amount of history you can be proud of.

DO NOT HATE YOURSELF OVER OTHER'S ENVY. THE SLAVE TRADE ENDED IN AMERICA LONG AGO AND YOU TOOK NO PART IN IT.

... cuck.

[–]Hsinimod 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmm... you actually said valid points in a non PC way. The SJW would take offense lol.

I'm an actual SJW, and noticed that the attempt to polarize issues is blatantly propaganda.

Kudos to pointing out that if a white guy talks about racism, they accuse him of "white Savior complex" and if a man is a feminist, he's accused of "mansplaining".

Why?

Cause of many many reasons. One, listening. Men do need to suppress the "triggered" urge, and actually listen. Noticing men that weren't listening was what prompted shutting those men off. Learned that because men did that. But when men are allies, shutting those allies off means those groups hurt one of their own. An ally.

Two, because the guys that aren't allies were trying to parrot the educated men, while they weren't actually trying to change. That's why political correctness is important but also has that unintentional sarcasm. When people cared about how something was said, but not the context of what was said, all knew they weren't serious.

Lies care about only image.

Normal cares about all.

A white guy ally to blacks is an ally.

A white guy racist talking about black issues is a racist.

A white guy trying to learn and help might be called a "white Savior", and that will determine if an ally if gained or lost. Or they'll be recognized as an ally. Or they'll be frustrated with explaining.

These examples are examples because I've seen human behavior in so many ways.

Online, people tend to illustrate their thoughts with a bit less filter and a bit more bluntness. Normal folk are intraspective and extraspective. Bias folk only want to see their bias.

Is this our fault black people commit the most violent crimes ?

Doesn't matter. Men also commit more crimes. We still get disproportionate sentences. Both can be true.

People may also be downvoting you because they think you're just repeating racist propaganda, but no, the crime rate amongst the black population really is dramatically higher, particularly for the most violent crimes (black people commit many crimes at higher rates than white -- 600% for murder, for example).

It’s your fault if you judge individual black people based on what some other black people may do

[–]Demonarke 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't judge individual black people, I have black friends (insert your typical joke about racist saying he has black friends not to sound racist)

But even those friends admit too much crimes are committed by blacks

[–]Hsinimod 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hence that guys comment about not judging innocent people for what individuals have done. It's not about judging a group for the actions of individuals. You basically are supposed to judge individuals after fact checking, not groups. I think you meant that but your comment is coming off... different than what I think you actually meant.

The discussion about groups is about the why certain groups have more of criminal individuals. That suggests a nature and nurture exploration of the culture. Male cultures around the world need to police their cultures to reduce criminality. Americans decided jail time was what they'd investigate, so that disproportionate jail time is due to American men deciding they wanted that.

If they wanted to try talk therapy in schools, hugging it out, and sensitivity training, then things may have been different. But men tended to laugh at that and think they wouldn't have to deal with this, until alimony payments and drinking at a bar and getting into a fight suddenly enlighten them to what they didn't think affected them...

[–]Demonarke 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well yes, I'm guessing you are right.
My point is in day to day life I'm certainly gonna be more wary about getting mugged by black people than white people.
However if I was a judge I wouldn't judge a person of color just because of their ethnical group, I would judge that person for who they are as an individual.

Though to argue about the "men" part, I believe we men have ourselves instigated this "tough" attitude.
I generally do not disagree with traditional gender roles but I feel like today men are punished for being men while women are paradoxically encouraged to behave like men.

[+][deleted] 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Demonarke 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What about men ? Yes I'm certainly more afraid of getting mugged by men in the streets than women, however men in general suffer from the most violent crimes, which are more perpetrated by black people.
So yes when I'm walking out at night I'm gonna be more afraid of men than women, and more afraid of black men than white men.

Also while I'm ready to believe black people suffer harsher punishment for the same crime, you have to take into account the past of the perpetrator, has he committed crimes in the past ? Is he aggressive ? Calm ? Is he likely to recidivate ?

This is just like the debate of the gender wage gap issue all over again, not all the info is taken into account

[–]Hsinimod 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I like how you're thinking.

The issue is that when courts take in such info, a first time offender that is white gets less punishment than a first time offender that is black. First time female offender gets less punishment than first time male offender.

The court is applying the guessing to recidivism, and that's not facts, that's bias. Bias is trying to predict probability, because data and math prove black has higher crinimal rate than white, and male has higher criminal rate than female. It's about using facts when uncertain, and longer sentencing typically resulted in safer communities.

Lack of calm isn't causation of aggression, it's correlation. Plenty of normal people who respond without calm have in my experience been non-aggressive. They were expressing and venting without harming, but courts have shown discomfort if the person isn't relatable to them... but when aggression is shown, it typically lacks calm.

It's about reading the room. The court doesn't want a second time offender, so they look to make the first punishment as a way to reduce recidivism. And data proves that crime diminished when court sentencing was longer.

The debate wasn't about long sentences, but if alternatives were available. We learned harsh sentencing resulted in safer communities, but we also learned that prevention was best medicine. Community service, long probation periods, curfews, restricted areas, can also be very effective.

[–]Demonarke 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Problem is there are entire ghettos in America which don't have access to proper education, and it's not just because they are "poor", there are very violent attitudes inside ghettos that prohibit "prevention" as you put it.

While I do believe prevention is important, people will only listen if they respect the person who is giving them a lesson, but nowadays these districts are left to fend for themselves because no one dares to interact with these communities, yet the government is also too afraid to put their foot down by sending the police or heck even the army to bring order to these parts.

[–]Hsinimod 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I literally drive into ghettos. It's completely bullshit exaggeration about the danger. I went to South Chicago. I drove through every part of Cleveland. I was in the "bad" neighborhoods of Oakland and Palo Alto and East Palo Alto. It wasn't what the propaganda was saying.

About a month ago, a black couple were arguing politely in public at 3 am. There was a third guy, and the male was jealous about that guy's relationship to his wife.

I parked, got out of my car, and talked with them. The angry husband was angry. He didn't know how I would judge the situation. I wasn't judging, I was there to talk to him as an impartial person so he could vent without feeling suppressed. His wife was pleading to talk and not yell, and I noticed the husband wasn't focused on talking to his wife, but yelling at the guy.

I intervened so he wouldn't simply escalate but could still express himself, and so he'd converse with his wife.

This wasn't "ghetto". This was public. 1 person helping calmed an entire situation. You know how many people simply drove by glaring without trying to ask if they needed assistance?

Type all your mock rage, but until I see you people actually helping each other, you'll all hypocritics seeking virtue signaling but not offering real solutions.

Oh, and I'm not directing this at you Demonarke, simply mentioning what your comments reminded me about.

I'm a gay white guy. I'm know exactly how it seems trying to talk with women and having some think I'm man splaining at them. I know exactly how it looks to be a "white savior". That's exactly what drives people apart, that people try silencing others for not having the same genitals or color. I call out all this bullshit without apology.

[–]Demonarke 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I help people whenever I can, however as I said I am more cautious with black people because statistics show most crimes, especially violent crimes are committed by blacks. It doesn't mean if I see a black guy dying in the street I'm not gonna rush to help him and call 911.

[–]Prototype8494 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]_Senjogahara_ 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Black privilege"
are you fucking kidding me ?
lol

[–]Hsinimod 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Black privilege is a gamble at whether a geographical region (or economic bracket) will support blacks more than what we've seen in media.

It's a truth, but is such a contextual truth, that usually it isn't considered.

More often, the "need" to prove 110% makes that type of privilege seem like luck.

Example. Lazy workers in a factory. A bunch of guys of different races, all being lazy. A hardworking white man will be noticed for advancement easily. A hardworking black man will be noticed, for advancement "eventually". The reason? The bosses want to be sure they're consistent, due to the bias of seeing other workers. Blacks in many studies judge their own stringently to weed out their own biases about commitment to a task.

In middle class and above, being black is already considered having proven hardworking ethic, so privilege starts to show in some ways. But the annoyances of being reminded that color doesn't show status, means having examples of disrespectful behaviors, such as a black lawyer at Walmart buying baby supplies being monitored because staff are assuming it might be one of the poor shoplifters. Insulting for the black lawyer, and revealing of the habits of the poor in an area.

Obviously, poor people in small towns who haven't stolen probably wonder why poor people elsewhere might. It's related to community involvement, status, anonymity, and respect. These factors shape much.

"Black privilege"?!? Tell me more about this "black privilege."

[–]JediNinjaWizard 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Please share an example that isn’t a famous black person

[–]Deadass-Boi 43 points44 points45 points 5 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

The average black person has more social advantages compared to the average white person, they can get popular quicker, they can get jobs more easily due to bias of several workplaces that want diversity and seem more attractive due to a really inappropriate thing related to black people that we all know about

Of course black people have it bad, everyone does, but saying black people have no priviledge at all makes you sound like an ignorant idiot who just wants to annoy everyone around them

[–]Alistair_TheAlvarian 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, if I got to pick I definitely would not pick being black, the costs outweigh the benefits by far. But there are benefits to be sure mostly around federal aid, hiring, and college admissions. However the lower appraisal value, racist assholes, and violence as well as higher sentences for the same crimes are way worse.

I think I lucked out. I look white, but not that white. I'm two thirds persian which means I get a lot of the benefits of being a minority but I still look white enough that if I wear sunscreen and you squint I look very firmly north western European. My name is "exotic" sounding but not enough to cause immediate bad treatment and I avoid most targeted racism although not all of it, I've had people be racist because I "am from an isis country" I'm not Muslim and I was born in Oregon. And also from people in my schools people of color support and social group running me out because I'm "too white"

Everyone has some privileges and some discrimination directed at them. Men and brown people have it worse on average but it doesn't mean that they don't have privileges and it doesn't mean that women and white people don't have issues.

[+]Alex-xoxo666 -34 points-33 points-32 points 5 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Getting hired due to bias is probably the one factual thing about that but getting hired ≠ being treated equally and fairly in the workplace, they still may not get equal pay for the same job and this also depends on what company and how big it is; do you think Chuck fil a stopped being homophobic even after all the media coverage? They have been funding places that are attempting to strip trans state laws. The first two things you said sound like assumptions and you can’t prove them.

Is using logical thinking annoying you?

[–]Deadass-Boi 26 points27 points28 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I have a feeling you are in the wrong subreddit, this sub is literally about debating using real facts, so no, it doesn't bother me and I don't know how true it is that black people are paid less and honestly I think that is not true, I also mentioned that black people also have it bad, yet you say it as if I have said that black people are priviledged as hell and something should be done, while what I really said is that like everyone else, they have their own priviledge

[+]Alex-xoxo666 -21 points-20 points-19 points 5 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

https://www.payscale.com/data/gender-pay-gap#section03 I don’t care what you think is true or untrue, if you don’t KNOW if it is true or not then you shouldn’t even say it and/or people shouldn’t be listening to you.

This sub is about factual debating correct? Well this source shows statistics of pay gaps and unemployment rates between genders and races in the US and I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t look at it however don’t respond if you do chose to ignore it, and you contradicted yourself by saying that I’m in the wrong sub because if the whole factual argument thing because you’ve provided no facts and only assumptions, where are your sources and stats?

And no, I didn’t say any of that as if you said “black people are privileged as hell” all I did was provide what should’ve been seen as a simple counter argument, maybe you should just stick to focusing on MEN’S ISSUES as this sub intended.

There are many too internships at coveted companies like Google that are only open to blacks and Hispanics. Software engineering is open to everyone, but the business role interns are exclusively URMs. That’s one example.

Another example is top tier college admissions. Wealthy URMs have a major advantage over wealthy whites/Asians and way more than poor whites/Asians.

[+]Alex-xoxo666 -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Alrighty that was a valid first point, however I did read up on it and apparently that Google program was disorganized and didn’t even deliver the promises it had for those black students and also “The program is one of many initiatives the tech industry has undertaken to improve diversity in its workforce. Today, only 3.7% of Google's U.S. workforce is Black, a small rise from 2.4% in 2014, when the company first announced its diversity numbers. Attrition rates for Google's Black U.S. employees are higher than for other demographic groups, with Black females seeing a particular spike in attrition from last year, up 18%, according to the company's 2020 diversity report. ( https://kstatic.googleusercontent.com/files/25badfc6b6d1b33f3b87372ff7545d79261520d821e6ee9a82c4ab2de42a01216be2156bc5a60ae3337ffe7176d90b8b2b3000891ac6e516a650ecebf0e3f866 ) “This lack of diversity is reflected throughout the tech industry, which has touted the need and desire to hire more diverse talent for several years now. Black people make up roughly 15% of the American population, but rarely more than 6% at big tech companies, which have historically recruited from the same, predominately white institutions -- even though there are more than 60 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) that graduate computer science students.” - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/02/21/google-howard-west-program-faced-disorganization-culture-clashes.html So in conclusion Google was already lacking the diversity anyways as the employees were more predominantly white so by a business perspective of course they would try to appeal to more POCs to look better.

Now the second point I don’t exactly see what white/Asian people have to do with black peoples but also wealthy URMs having more of an advantage to wealthy white/Hispanic people sounds more like a social class issue rather than a race issue.

[–]az226 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

At Dartmouth, for instance, applicants’ SAT scores were adjusted based on their race. Asians got their scores deducted and blacks got their scores boosted. And it didn’t look into socioeconomic status, just race.

Saying the internship program wasn’t all it could have been is ignoring the privilege. Excluding any race from eligibility is discrimination. Same goes for gender and other protected classes.

If a company or team has low representation of a certain demographic, they should invest more in recruiting a larger pipeline from that demographic, seeking it out more, but not put quotas or hard discriminatory rules to exclude those who don’t fall in that demographic. That is, I think it would be wrong for Harvard to say we want 15% of the class to be black, 50% white, etc. If Harvard wants more black representation, they can buy a list of addresses from the College Board with black students who did well on the SAT and have a good GPA. And then send out mailers to invite them to apply. Or go visit high schools that are predominantly black and invite those students to apply.

It seems you are deflecting the examples of privilege provided by me and others by saying, well the privilege isn’t as great as you think it is.

It’s like the female privilege of non-conscription, saying well military service isn’t all that bad for those that are forced to do it or saying the draft is unlikely to happen.

[–]Alex-xoxo666 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You’re right, excluding groups of people is discrimination, but we should also ask questions such as did they make the program for these people because they are black, the black privilege, or did they make this program so their company doesn’t look like it’s discriminating as the majority of their company is white? What I’m saying is I don’t think it’s necessarily black privilege but just a giant corporation trying to stay giant and rich by adding in that diversity to pretty much say “hey, look what I did for these black students! This shows that I’m not racist!” instead of “These black students deserve this opportunity more than other races!” Since Black people are the next biggest racial group in America after white people and honestly I’m wouldn’t be surprised if they were to make a new program solely for Hispanic people sometime down the future.

Also can you send something about that Dartmouth situation because I can’t find anything about it

[–]az226 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you need to reasses here. Now you’re getting into why the program exists, which doesn’t change the calculus of the privilege. It’s there regardless of the motivation.

And I think it’s obvious what the motivation was: to get increase racial diversity by increasing the proportion of black and Hispanic employees. I don’t think they care if it is discriminating or if it gives those demographies any privileges, it’s just par for the course.

There are multiple reasons companies invest in diversity programs, D&I, DEI, DI&B, etc. Those are well understood. Sometimes it’s all of the above type of a thing. Diversity is good for getting diverse perspectives, increases belonging metrics, helps with hiring from those demographies, improves company reputation, etc.

I couldn’t find the Dartmouth piece. It was shared by a senior ex-admissions officer and I remember the scores were adjusted -100 for Asians, +-0 for whites, +100 for Hispanics, and +200 for blacks. It’s possible the values were half these. It was over a decade ago and I would imagine the person scrubbed it because admitting to something like this today would be very un-woke.

[–]TheLumixStrongman -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not true unfortunately. Especially seen with the Resume example of black sounding names getting less callbacks. Even the SJW google is guilty of racial bias in hiring. In contrast women have 2:1 hiring rate. If all conditions are equal Asians earn the most then whites then blacks. The thing is because of anti black racism the conditions are not the same and probably won’t ever be the same

[–]sno_cone_thehomeloan 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That can all be true, but Asians still have to get much, much better grades than Blacks do to get into med school for example, because of affirmative action policies. So Black people do experience privilege, but they also experience disadvantages as well.

[–]TheLumixStrongman -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Possibly true. The concern should be also why white people need lower grades than Asians. More important are poor Asians who don’t come from fluent English families as American Asians held to the same standards as middle class and rich Asians. In US history black ppl have been discriminated in getting docked grades in elementary and high school, not being pushed to elite classes when they have equal grades to Asian and white kids, society pushing the stereotypes being blacks being inherently stupid, other blacks people believing those stereotypes including unfortunately their own parents and black schools being intentionally underfunded . I think affirmative actions is needed for the short term until anti-black tropes have left the education sector. You can see it with African families who have no generational trauma caused by racism, have not faced discrimination in the realms which affect finances as mostly they well come from well off families in their African background and most live culturallly secluded lives consequently don’t learn negative anti-black stereotypes passed through black families as many Africans say they didn’t know they were black until they left Africa and mostly importantly can afforded to live in a good neighbourhood by passing racism in the residential market and having more disposable income to pay for Tutors. Also possibly, having a culture which was hasn’t been fucked up by generational racism and actually having a culture. Many Asians and Africans don’t ( I’m both) appreciate how much of a cultural identity they have and how important it is

That isn't the topic. The topic is whether or not black privilege exists, and it does. Privilege isn't an all-encompassing thing. You aren't either privileged or not. As a white person you might be privileged in 20 different ways, but disadvantaged in 10 other ways. Even if being white is overall more advantageous than being black, there are still black privileges.

To put it another way...there is a difference between saying "black privilege exists" versus saying "it is a privilege to be born black". I would agree with the former, but I would disagree with the latter.

Charlottesville Heather Heyer is similar except the guy didn't steal the car and she died of a heart attack.

That's so far from true I don't know where to start.

She died from the blunt force trauma to her chest, as shown in the death investigation report. From the testimony in court, they found her thoracic aorta was severed.

It's also not similar in many other ways that matter a lot: Intentionally smashing your car into a crowd vs. plausibly attempting to get away with another crime with no inherent murderous intent necessary, the terroristic nature of attacking those at a protest, the other people who were injured and not killed...

Are you joking?

The Charlottesville car attack was a terror attack perpetrated on August 12, 2017, when James Alex Fields, Jr. deliberately drove his car into a crowd of people who had been peacefully protesting the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, killing one and injuring 35.The 20-year-old Fields had driven from Ohio to attend the rally. Fields previously espoused neo-Nazi and white supremacist beliefs. He was convicted in a state court for the first-degree murder of 32-year-old Heather Heyer, eight counts of malicious wounding, and hit and run, and was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 419 years in July 2019. He also pled guilty to 29 of 30 federal hate crime charges to avoid the death penalty, which resulted in another life sentence handed down in June 2019.

[–]yoitsericc 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't think this is a fair comparison.

The man intentionally rammed the car into a crowd. She died of a heart attack in part due to the trauma to her chest from the attack.

In this case, it looks more like felony murder or manslaughter because the man was killed during the carjacking because they fought over the car itself.

It is a tragedy that people were hurt and killed but one thing that was left out was that he was being attacked before that, if he were to stay still he might've been hurt himself. Which brings another point, which has nothing to do with men's rights, but white people are the only civilization that isn't allowed to have a culture that is exclusive to them. Is it right to say that Tiger Woods, Lewis Hamilton or Serena Williams are appropriating white culture?

Wait, what? From your link:

When severe aggression has been perpetrated (e.g., punching, kicking, using a weapon), rates of injury are much higher among female victims than male victims, and those injuries are more likely to be life-threatening and require a visit to an emergency room or hospital. However, when mild-to-moderate aggression is perpetrated (e.g., shoving, pushing, slapping), men and women tend to report similar rates of injury.

Which would be the exact opposite of what the cop said, wouldn't it?

[–]giantgoose 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The link you've provided, as someone else pointed out, specifies that while women might be slightly more likely to perpetrate physical violence in an intimate relationship, it is significantly less likely than when men perpetrate to be severe (as in beatings, bruising, broken bones, and hospitalization), and more likely to be restricted to slapping, pushing, etc.

Still shitty either way and shouldn't happen regardless of who is perpetrating and who is victimized, but it directly disproves the anecdotal evidence provided in the original content. You might wanna consider reading the full source next time before you post it.

[–]Demonarke 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Statistics are built on many individual experiences, they are not built out of thin air you doofus.

What he has seen can constitute (if true) the beginning of a statistic, and if he and let's say 50 cops testified on this matter it would become a statistic.

[–]im_a_teapot_dude 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

and if he and let's say 50 cops testified on this matter it would become a statistic.

Yes, but only if you're trying to measure statistics about the perceptions of cops.

If you're trying to measure how often certain violence happens, you use a data source that reasonably reliably records information, because the whole point of using statistics is to take human bias out of it.

[–]Demonarke -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Records information are made by cops, that's why I said "(if true)" in my previous sentence, because if he and what 50 others cops have seen can be proven then it constitutes a reliable statistic.

But as I said, I unfortunately think such stats will never be made public because it's not in the interest of the media to spread that kind of information. And if this information was made available it would be really hard to find.

[–]giantgoose 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok sure it can become a "statistic" in the purest sense of the word, but that doesn't mean that it's a statistic in any way representative of the world at large or even a small part of it.

Like me saying "I spent an average of 7 minutes in the shower over the last 3 weeks" is a statistic, but it means absolutely nothing.

[–]Demonarke 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I personally think and from experience (It's really hard to find stats on that, and most stats are biased towards one gender or the other)
That men tend to be more physically abusive to their partner while women tend to be more mentally abusive to their partner.
Which makes sense to me because women can't really compete physically with a man.

A part of the reason for the disparity in official statistics of crime between men on women can be accounted for in the fact that so many blatantly evil things that women can only do to men are completely legal. If there is anything that feminists hate more than men, it is romance and families. Dating is a tough game. For men and women. Get rejected. End up alone. Be pursued by undesirables. Break someone's heart. Get your heart broken. Get entangled with someone even more flawed than yourself. Miss the perfect person because you didn't play the game right. Being murdered is low on any reasonable person's list. Sure, it's possible, but it's really just feminist hate propaganda.

I get the anger, I watched the video, I donated to the family, but may I say that "Only" got 6 years isn't a fair way to frame it unless the law they were sentenced under had separate guidelines for boys and girls. 6 years was the max sentence. It seems very short, especially to an adult. But she's 15, those are going to be some really long 6 years. That's a big percent of her life so far. It was the worst she could receive.

Apparently the 13yo will be sentences July 6.

If you see the video, one of the girls tried to go back to the car because she had left her phone inside, while the victim lay dying just a few feet away from her. Criminal and sociopathic. Can we feel safe with such people around us?

[–]FoldupKibbles26 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, which is why she received the maximum possible punishment allowed.

Yeah, the racial sentencing gap should be ignored because there's no specific guidelines based on race.

To play devils advocate, the phrase “the exception the proves the rule” seems to apply here.

Ok but as men do we all fear women killing us just because it happens sometimes? No ones denying than women can be murderous. But women are more afraid of men than we are of them because they have reason to. It doesn’t mean our lives are easier, just that we aren’t at as high of a risk of being killed/attacked by the opposite sex.

[–]Bosilaify 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Fair point but what is the reason? We are higher risk https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide_statistics_by_gender

[+]giantgoose -7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Higher risk by other men.

[–]ScarAdvanced9562 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And? Do their lives not matter just because they were killed by men?

[–]giantgoose -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah totally, that's the point I was making, wow what brilliant comprehension and understanding you've displayed.

The original post was trying to rebuttal the idea that women are afraid of men, using an example of female murderers, as if men should be afraid of women. IMO that’s ridiculous, women have reason to fear men more than were afraid of women. This victimized mindset of us isn’t reality. But your right, men are more likely to be murdered that’s just not relevant right now.

LOL I know right how dare men be mad at two girls basically walking after killing a poor old man just trying to earn an honest living? That is like sooo silly they should totally be happy there is one less cis gendered male in the world.

He said men not incels, or do you really believe all men are incels? If that were the case our species would go extinct because last time I checked incel was short for involuntarily celibate.

Well shit guys he found one exception to the rule. Call the press statistics are cancelled this guy solved it finding one case. Any time a woman is murdered we just need to be like but yeah that one time a uber driver got murdered so its not that bad.

[–]escanor_over9000 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think if you kill someone to should get what time they had left so people live to around 78 as the average so if someone kills a 36yo then you would get around 37ish years.

[–]Atilla942 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

BLM would have been burning American cities had these been white teenagers who killed a black uber driver.
