Timeline of all this:

April 6, 2017: Surat is arrested in Old Town Square following an altercation with a Fort Collins police officer.

April 8, 2017: A video posted on social media depicting Surat's arrest goes viral. The nine-second clip taken by a bystander shows Fort Collins Police Services officer Randall Klamser throwing the then-22-year-old face first into the ground in Old Town Square.

April 9, 2017: Police confirm the incident was captured on Klamser's body-mounted camera but decline to release the footage to the public, citing the need to protect Surat's right to a fair trial while her criminal case is proceeding.

April 10, 2017: Surat's arrest documents and booking photo are released, providing additional details about the events leading up to Surat being taken to the ground. Klamser is identified as the officer in the video. Surat is formally charged with third-degree assault and obstructing a peace officer.

April 13, 2017: Klamser is placed on paid administrative leave.

April 30: Surat's trial is continued, with attorneys citing the need to have time to call expert witnesses in the case. The trial is reset for August.

May 1: Surat's defense attorney, David Lane, releases the police body camera footage of Surat's arrest. Fort Collins police condemn the release of evidence before Surat's trial is complete.

May 11: The district attorney files a motion for sanctions against David Lane for releasing the body camera footage to the media. Lane files a response May 21.

alright I know Im going to get downvoted for this. The woman deserved to be arrested, and certainly manhandled. but there is no way that grown ass man of a cop wasn’t strong enough to cuff her without slamming her on the ground with the clear intent to hurt her. You guys may feel she deserved it or had it coming, and fine you can feel that way but police should have the ethic of causing as little harm whenever possible. Its not that its wrong to body slam her because she has a vagina and deserves special treatment, its wrong because there is no need for a grown ass man to body slam a college girl handle her resisting arrest. like damn its not hard to hold a woman’s arms behind her back. if its a dude nearly as strong as you then yeah fuck him up or else he might do it back to you. but you don’t have to fuck up a skinny 22 yo woman to handle her resisting arrest, no matter how much of an asshole she is being.

I am a person who says "Fuck the cops, they're probably lying" in most situations, this is a rare exception. The drunk girl was free to go but instead stated "No, I am going to stay here", attempted to push past the cop, and when he blocked her, she assaulted him.

Classic case of a dumb drunk bitch (I think it is fair to call her that at this point) getting angry because she didn't get her way. If this were me (as a black male) as a soon a I touched the cop I would have been taken down, tased, and/or been shot depending on how the cop felt at the time.

The cop gave her multiple opportunities to end it peacefully even after she hit him. If you want to talk about "privilege" this is the definition of the term. I am sure the cop knew that no matter what he did there would be backlash. At least if it were a black male he would have the hardcore racists and FOX news on his side, depending on how racist the precinct was he might even get a promotion, but since it's a semi-attractive white female the whole world will be against him no matter what the fuck she did to deserve it.

As someone who doesn’t support MOST police officers or their actions or the laws they’ve sworn to uphold, the cop was in the right. He just got there, she was trying to pull away they guy the bouncers called them for, he even told her she can go but she wants to get handsy. I avoid police at all cost. I do this because I disrespect them so much I’d rather not interact w them and risk being killed. They only 911 I think we need is fire and EMT. Someone breaking into your home? Shoot them. Family arguments or violence? The rest of the family should intervene. Police are unnecessary for me. If everyone was able to live this was then society would be much safer.

I know people may throw 100s of reasons to me why police are needed. You’re right. They are. But we should police our own small communities. Family. Friends. Small colonies. 300 million people is too much to live this way I suppose, but hey, I’m loving living that way. Fuck 12.
