From what I read on another men’s sub, while over 4 million women in Great Britain DO in fact work until they drop, a much higher number (around 7 million) men do the exact same thing.

Lol wait wut— the first line says that the rate of women “working into their 50s and 60s” is at an all time high...those years are ones men are expected to work. If the retirement age has generally been accepted to be 65 for a while (should probably go up very soon though) how on earth is this news? If anything it should be news that they are now becoming equal, not portray it as a bad thing like this article is.

Edit: switched “risen considerably” for the correct “is at an all time high”.

Oh no, working past 50!! That's almost unheard of, no one knows what happens at that age, no one's ever worked past 50. Poor buttercups.

Here's the thing, most men could retire early too if they didn't have to support a wife and/or kids. Do they want to address that life expectancy yet?

So if 4.2M women work past 50 and the total for men and women working past 50 is 10M+, that means over 6M men are working past 50 and it's not even a side note in the article. There are less women working past 50, then men working past 50, but women are the victims still? I don't get it.

Nope. It's finally happening.

And now, it can't be discussed with woman only terms. or else this shit show wioll get shut down.

In the beginning, I though, you know what, maybe ... some of the things feminists criticised looked real good. Less work per week? real good. More social justice? Really good. More respect for Dads? YES PLS!

But as time went on, I had that sudden realisation of.... They were absolutely ok with this going on. Just not for them.

80 hour work week? too much? Why yes, but only if women are required to work these jobs.

High mortality rates? ONLY a problem if women work these jobs. Men can die all they want?

Protesting against the war, yes please, but then going around and going, we think only men should be forced to serve against their will?

OOOh, you are for supporting single mothers, buit signle dads have somethjing wrong with them?

So here is the news.

It's not priviledge, sugar tits.

It's payback.

Men start their jobs when they are 20, work till they are 50 or 60, and then retire. In the meantime, they get told at every available angle that a girlfriend is what they need. You are overworked? why not get a girlfriend? You are a boozer? Girlfriend will straighten you straight up. You have a bad back from lifting heavily in a job you hate for 20 years? Why not give a girlfriend a try?

And you know why most of us do this? Because, if you have a family, you get at least some respect. You don't get immediatelly laid off, because you have kids to feed. You don't get overworked because it will look bad on the kids. You know, the same way we treat parents. That is the same way we treat single mothers.

And what happens?

Strangely enough, we tried to warn them.

No, sugar, that's not a priviledge. No, seeing your kids on the few weekends you don't get called in is not a priviledge. Working for about 40 years straight is not a priviledge.

And what happens? The feminists would not believe us. they wanted in on that. Because they assumed, the priviledge has to be hidden in there. After all, if a family man with children made this much money, There miust be a way for very sucessfull single women to make the same ammount of money, with the same benefits.

And now, I sit there laughing like a hyena when finally, the feminists of the world discover what priviledge stood for in the minds of their "scholars":

Disposability.

Young men give up so much, but for each thing we as a society ask them to give up, we at least make sure they get something to show for it. You get into a relationship that will eventually produce children? Fuck, we need some, so here's some job security, and we treat you like we treat parents. You spend years working your way up the ladder, so you wouldn't lift as heavy anymore? Here's the promotion.

And now, they are horrified to discover that everything that you get when you treat women like men is that more and more, the princess buttercup attitude of some feminists makes way to horrendous discoveries, that need to be publically cried about, but that stand anathema to the ideas of feminism.

This is why I personally, like to discuss things that benefit all of us. Transgender acceptabncle? You can say these people have it tough. Gay and lesbians? Whew. Less work weeks? Yep. More pay? Yep. Unions? YEP. Everything that mankind can do to better our lot in life, I happily partake in, but if I hear just one word of "Feminism", I take my hat and leave.

Egalitarians take care of all people.

Feminists take care of hashtags and special priviledges to all women.

What’s this paper?

Seems to me that there’s another side to this story... that women are getting more work opportunities and aren’t forced to give up their careers when they become pregnant or no longer look pretty. IMO it is a positive that women are finding meaninful careers, being more productive and making more coin than ever!

But like... surely it’s a piss take? I’ll probably be working until I’m 80 or something. 65? Baaaaahahaha... I’d get bored if I did anyway.

The article later goes on to state that "The number of men over 50 in work has risen by 975,000 or 22% in the past decade to just over 5.3 million. In the same time the number of women aged 50 or over has risen by 1.2 million or 30% to just over 4.7 million"

Note that for men it's "over 50" whereas for women it's "aged 50 or over", so they're not even comparing the same age groups!
