as soon as i see people try and use the 77 cents argument they lose all credibility. if women really did do the exact same jobs with the same qualifications, experience and worked the same amount of hours businesses would just hire women (also its not calculated by comparing the same jobs). the patriarchy and glass ceiling arguments are not provable so you end up fighting phantoms with these people.

Holy crap this was painful to watch. They couldn't even be consistent on arguing the 77% myth. The teacher says patriarchy holds women back but the girls falsely claim that the stat is from women working the same jobs.

The kid is being forced to argue against two different positions at the same time and it's not fair to expect him to do that.

Also, that is an utterly reprehensible teacher to bait a student into saying something and then accuse them of being solely responsible for the statement as a way to discredit them. That's just low. Shows he's really not convinced he can win the argument if he has to resort to trickery like that.

Seemed pretty frustrating, there are too many 1/2 formed arguments people are looking up on their computers on the fly and (apparently) misquoting. It's impossible to argue against the stats they throw out without knowing if they're even reading it correctly. There are refutations that are half made before another point is pulled out of nowhere.

One thing I thought was interesting is that 90% of the video is a handful of guys having this "debate". The girls participation should maybe suggest one reason why we don't see more female CEOs/"top position".

If your experience at school was anything like mine, everyone knew who the decent teachers were and who were the rubbish ones, and word went round fast.

I accept that schools these days aren't what they once were, but I suspect schoolchildren still know how to pick one from the other. On that basis, I can't see this "teacher" getting much respect, let alone full-time attention.

To the credit for the teacher: Even if you criticize his position and some of his expressions, but he argues with his students on eye level. For some teachers it's incredible frustrating to be questioned in front of the class but taking this challenge even if you can "lose" against your student(s) takes self-confidence.
