Something I thought of recently. If the average women earning 14% less than the average man is a problem, then shouldn't we apply the same logic to everyone who earns 14% less than then average man. Poor men, for example.

What a joke, they should have at least responded to your actual question instead of just responding with propaganda and ignoring everything you've written.

This is why I won't donate to charities like this, they're extremely sleezy and have corrupt practices, there was a recent news article about help for heroes apparently only using 60% of the proceeds to the people they're supposed to be helping.

A lot of these organisations seem to be cons that fleece money from the donations people give to pay for 'administration' costs rather than actually help people. Here in the UK we have a particularly bad problem of charity collectors ( a.k.a Charity chuggers/muggers as they have been nicknamed ) and they've become such a problem that people have gotten fed up with them and some areas have outright banned them or restricted them to only certain areas and monitor their behaviour.

They're little better than more organised pan handlers with high visibility jackets on, one of the reason these charity collectors can be so aggressive and harass people on the street is because they're getting a percentage of the donations in commission.

As somebody from Britain I know a hell of a lot about this lol, be very careful about which organisations you give your money to and research them, don't just blindly give money because people can and do take advantage of your kindness.

This is a completely unproven assertion that is ubiquitous in foreign aid organisations.

I suspect the opposite should be true. Only on focusing on middle class men's income will poverty end. Men have proven themselves in terms of being the core engine of an economy and is how all modern countries have prospered.

The lack of a middle class is the reason why warlords like Boko Haram can do what they do. Kill, rape and steal is the only thing left that some of these men can do. NGOs should be stepping in to help them quickly build profitable careers. But helping men is never on the agenda.

The gender pay gap is the difference between women’s and men’s average weekly ~~full-time equivalent~~ earnings, expressed as a percentage of men’s earnings per hour, so it is ~~not~~ affected by differences in the hours worked.

Women choose part-time work, which often pays less per hour, however the wage gap is

79% raw wage gap / 75% hours worked gap = 105%

Women actually get paid more per hour for part-time work.

I guess that makes the solution to the gender gap simple: Have women work an additional hour and a half every week for their current weekly earnings. Patriarchy smashed! #YesAllWomen

Keep in mind this is a calculated decision. They understand that it's going to piss some people off, but given that the donator base is predominantly female it makes more sense for them to pander and try to extract more funds from the larger pool of existing donors.

Shocking. They openly admit both that they are prioritising women in some misguided view that THAT will end poverty, and worse, that they are basing the so called wage gap on the common error that the trend of women CHOSING lower paid jobs compared to jobs that risks physical danger, or jobs that reward loyalty rather than leaving to have children, is some kind of proof of misogyny to women!

Great that they are openly admitting their stupidity for all to see, but kind of sad it has come to this. Anyway, good work by OP, and I now suggest we all take this unique opportunity to use this event for good by simply highlighting the portion of their reply that shows how they 'calculate' their mistaken notion of pay differences, and post it on social media alongside with the two basic facts we all know that show it to be stupid. That I mentioned earlier about jobs paying more for loyalty, and that jobs that involve harder physical work and danger pay more and are available to women who instead choose freely to take lower paid jobs instead. Oxfam are openly ignoring male suffering on that basis of a stupid and misguided view. Let's make sure everyone sees that.

This sort of shit is why I can't support Worldbuilders or Heifer International, the charity they support. Mr. Rothfuss writes a pretty good novel, but when I read about the shit they were pulling(I think it was Haiti after a hurricane?), I lost a lot of respect for anyone who could support that. The charity was specifically excluding men from their efforts. If a man came along looking for food and clean water, he was turned away. Essentially, he was told that the women in his village get to decide if he lives or dies. If he had no wife or daughter to get aid for him, he was deemed not important enough to help.
