It's sad that those boys were probably in prison for something as simple as petty theft but now the woman who drugged and raped four of them, originally facing a life sentence, will avoid even registering as a sex offender for her crimes.

Edit: They updated the article. I was right.

He said the outcome was particularly unfair to the victims of the sexual abuse, none of whom had committed serious crimes before landing in the juvenile lock-up. "They will have spent more time incarcerated for petty crimes for Valerie Lieteau will for sexually abusing teenagers," Skaug said.

Clearly the boys raped this 41 year old woman. I mean, come on; she has a vagina. The boys are the ones with the penis'. Get it right!

The wheels of patriarchy don't just stop because you are drugged and unconscious! /s

[–]kireol 22 points23 points24 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sadly, we have learned this before. Many times.

[–]Machnow 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

plea deals usually only happen when the victims AND/OR their families agree to it. "The Canyon County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement the plea deal was reached after a discussion with the victims and Skaug" I have a pretty good idea what happened here, the boys parents, most likely the Mothers did not want her to see hard jail time. So many times have I read articles/cases with the boys own Mother saying at some point she doesn't want the female offender to face jail time. If your own Mother might not take the assault seriously, can we really expect anyone else to? or just as worse, imagine it's currently happening to you, and then it's mentioned in a joke or perhaps portayed on television (Saturday Night Live) and you hear your family laughing about it. The number of females that have done this is far, far more than what's being reported.

Makes me think of a lot of campus sexual assault cases. If she "regrets" having sex with them later then do the boys get charged with rape?

Well, If she had become pregnant she could have at least gotten child support from one of her victims when they become an adult.

It's pretty disgusting how sympathetic society is towards women (even when they're rapists and criminals) and how unsympathetic society is towards men and boys (even when they're victims and innocent).

[–]mwobuddy 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If the age of consent had been 15, she could've found a willing victim, oh, except then they wouldn't be a victim.

She raped because that's the only way she could have sex with someone she is attracted to, since that pesky AoC law.

[–]xynomaster[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Two of the boys were 18, one was 17, the other was 15.

Guess again.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then she really is just a rapist. Give her the chair.

[–]Aaod 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clearly the power they held because of patriarchy should have stopped this. Even if not then they should be PRIVILEGED to have this happen to them.

[–]Nowin 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

penises*

penis' means the penis owns something.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It would be penis's or penises'.

As in "Hey, that's my penis's hat" or "This is the national socialist German penises' party."

[–]Nowin 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No. Never "penis's". It's like the name James, only more phallic:

It is James' boat.
It is my penis' pet hamster.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Singular nouns are always made possessive by adding 's, even when it ends in s. It's "James's boat."

You add just the apostrophe without the s only for plural nouns that end in s, otherwise it is still 's.

So Children -> children's, boys -> boys' , and James -> James's.

[–]Nowin 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok I looked it up. Turns out this isn't a new argument and we're never going to agree lol

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Just curious, where are you looking that says you treat singular nouns ending in s like plural nouns endong in s? I've never seen that rule used or heard about any disagreement about this.

[–]Saquili 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Isn't children the plural form of noun child?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Hence why it gets 's instead of just an apostrophe, it's plural but doesn't end in s.

[–]kireol 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

oh. thanks.

[–]TibsChris -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

penis'. Get it right!

I would like to point out the irony in this statement...

[–]Cryptoparapyromaniac 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some of us cling to the older rules of grammar. Some of us just don't care about every little detail when we are posting to an online forum where it really doesn't matter because it's not like we are applying for a job or anything so why don't you take this run on and do what you will.

[–]joshgeek 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As if the rape wouldn't have been such a bad thing had the kids been locked up for more serious charges. Smh

[–]xynomaster[S] 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's just to point out the hypocrisy...petty theft for these boys means jail, multiple counts of sexual abuse on teens means probation.

[–]Machnow 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

xynomaster, you are exactly right. I could not have said it better.

[–]mochacola 114 points115 points116 points 10 years ago* (20 children) | Copy Link

Because the defendant did not plead guilty to a sexual crime, she will not be required to register as a sex offender.

What dimwit prosecutor came up with such shitty deal? This criminal went from life to possibly 5 years tops. That's way beyond cutting her some slack. Allowing her not having to admit guilt to sexual crime so she doesn't have to register as sex offender? WTF? Explain to me what was gained for the community of that city in this plea 'bargain'?

[–]xynomaster[S] 84 points85 points86 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

It's because, almost certainly, the prosecutor feels bad for her and doesn't want to see her get into trouble. As is always the case when dealing with female rapists.

And her nursing license is only suspended for 10 years, after which she can presumably go right back to preying on defenseless boys.

[–]LilyBentley 28 points29 points30 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

She blatantly stamped on patient rights. I'm still an idealistic sophomore in the nursing program but this is not f-ing cool.

[–]justcantwin1111 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

i fought and bled for this country to see cunts like this go free all while two 16 year old's have consensual sex yet the male is the fucking rapist.

i have had enough. i will not HELP any longer

[–]bakedpotato486 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm young(ish) and looking into a future of employment and thus taxes. I've had enough too. What can we do?

Do we just move out? Elsewhere? What place could possibly be fair and equal to a point of satisfying everyone participating?

Looking at the presidential race and seeing idiots on the right and criminals leading on the left, I don't see myself having much of a future here.

[–]justcantwin1111 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i will be honest with you, just work really hard for a year get a passport and travel the world. get a degree in computer science or mathematics. look at starting your own business. invest right now. rule of law out of your paycheck pay yourself half and invest the rest. live as cheap as possible. workout 6 days a week. eat healthy. and when the need comes up get an escort. life is short and you need to enjoy it. by not saving women or "HELPING" them you will be in protest. and damn sure don't give your life for them. you might try running for local office. DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN!!!!! if you want children use a surrogate program. make sure you do plenty of research. remember you can work overseas.

What can we do?

Revolt, Expat, or Turtle.

[–]Leinadro 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And on top of that when she goes back to it she will not have to disclose why she hasnt been in nursing for 10 years. Hell she could just lie and say she had a few kids.

[–]Xer0day 27 points28 points29 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

she had a few kids.

Still technically correct.

[–]Leinadro 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]d3k4y 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

See my original reply, but perhaps an overloaded public lawyer will just save the time if the victims and their families take it lightly. They did mention their decision was after speaking to the families.

[–]xynomaster[S] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The victims lawyer didn't seem too thrilled so I don't know:

He said the outcome was particularly unfair to the victims of the sexual abuse, none of whom had committed serious crimes before landing in the juvenile lock-up. "They will have spent more time incarcerated for petty crimes for Valerie Lieteau will for sexually abusing teenagers," Skaug said.

He didn't "lose" though because he really has no say in criminal proceedings...the prosecutor decides and that's pretty much that. He's their lawyer for the civil suit.

[–]justcantwin1111 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

so a little victim blaming and you know they (asked for) wanted it.

[–]Misogynist002 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There was a 0% chance of her getting life. When i got arrested it was possible to get up to 20 years in prison and I spent a night in jail and had to pay some fines. Journalists just give max sentances in their articles to sensationalize their articles. Also, the article was terrible and never mentioned why the charges were dropped. If they had no proof and knew she would walk free id rather her get charged for something

[–]HeForeverBleeds 40 points41 points42 points 10 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

"She's accused of having sex with one 15-year-old in the nurses' office while another employee acted a lookout." So considering that at least one other employee knew this was going on, and that this woman had multiple victims, I'm going to take a wild guess and assume there are probably other women doing this to other boys in this detention center as well

"When one of the boys was released, Lieteau made several trips to his hometown and continued the sexual relationship..." So even if she loses her nursing licence (temporarily), what's going to stop her from preying on other minors who are not currently in her care, since she doesn't have to register as a sex offender?

Exactly: absolutely nothing. So basically she's a known serial child molester who now knows that she can get away with it with more or less no punishment at. There's genuinely nothing stopping her from doing it again, not even parole--as pathetic of a punishment that would be, it's better than nothing at all

I don't think it could get anymore clear than this that the Criminal "Justice" System truly does not give a shit about protecting boy from predatory women. And yet meanwhile it wants to prosecute teen boys for having consensual sex with other teen girls

[–]xynomaster[S] 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

So considering that at least one other employee knew this was going on, and that this woman had multiple victims, I'm going to take a wild guess and assume there are probably other women doing this to other boys in this detention center as well

Yup. There was a lawsuit filed by 11 victims claiming a widespread culture of abuse. If memory serves at least one other woman from the facility has already been convicted (she served a small amount of time in prison), and there were allegations that a large number of (almost exclusively female) workers colluded to abuse the boys and protect each other. Apparently the conduct was reports many times by boys looking for help and systematically ignored.

Edit: I do want to add that she did plead guilty to felony assault charges, just not "sexual" assault. Apparently she may still be facing up to 5 years in prison, although I think it's exceedingly likely she'll get probation given the leniency she was already shown. We'll see though I suppose.

[–]Lurker_IV 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lets hope she gets caught breaking her parole conditions...

[+]mwobuddy -13 points-12 points-11 points 10 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

This is what happens when it is made illegal. People act out their desires in unhealthy, drugging ways.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's no healthy way for a 41 year old woman to act out sex with a 15 year old boy, whether drugs are involved or not

[–]mwobuddy -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Says you. And what do you actually know? Nothing but rhetoric indoctrinated into you.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

A forty-one year old raping a fifteen year old.

Repeat: Fourty. One. Year. Old. RAPING. A. Fifteen. Year. Old.

At this point, I have to believe you're trolling.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Understand you are responding to an individual who desperately wants it legalised.

[–]mwobuddy -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Understand that the age of consent is a failed issue like the war on drugs. What difference a legal and willing 16 year old vs an illegal and willing 15 year old? The only thing you can come up with is appeal to authority/history arguments, rather than appeal to reason.

I could really care less about this issue other than the fact that it obviously makes victims on both sides of the age line.

If some 16 year olds go to a midnight fuck party and its completely dark, their mind isn't going to magically get scarred emotionally from fucking a 40 year old vag or penis in the room, alongside other 16 yr olds.

The reasoning is completely feminist and fallacious, and yet you're taking this feminist viewpoint and running with it, to the detriment of younger and older people who get their lives ruined by their consenting activities publicized. Furthermore, it leads to actual rape (such as in this story, not statutory) because there isn't a legal way to get it.

it doesn't protect "children" at all. It actually puts them in more danger. You don't have some upstanding normal man or woman, you have people like me who just wanna abuse the shit out of them (amirite? Is this your thinking?), and so you're actually helping us predators find those who want an older person anyway, but can't find a good one, so they pick abusive ones.

Congrats. And in case you can't tell, Im making fun of your retarded brain at the end there, because you're thinking in black and white false dilemma terms. People like you really make me sick.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

What difference a legal and willing 16 year old vs an illegal and willing 15 year old?

It's called boundaries and you might consider applying some.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Do you not get that I am against someone drugging and raping another human being? Do you not get that sexual consent is a legal fiction, as it allows 15+15 to fuck but not 15+19 or 15+40? The age of skin cells of a vagina or penis don't magically create emotional trauma.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Adults can act with a sense of responsibility. Try it some time.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sex is irresponsible? Then I hope you've taken your vows.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm responsible enough to not have sex with kids. What's your excuse?

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

engaging in sex as an adult with a minor should be illegal (excepting a Romeo and Juliet clause) because sex creates a very adult emotional connection between two people.

So then you're okay with that adult emotional connection being created between two teens, even though you think its wrong for that connection to grow between a teen and "adult".

Two teens have similar life experience. They are both amateurs at the game. They may hurt eachother, its true, but its unlikely to be an unfair fight.

Ah, now I see your problem, you envision sex as a battle, which implies a winner and a loser. When I was much younger, I probably had a similar mindset.

It must be hell to even associate with the opposite gender with that mindset. For edification, I can throw some stats and news articles at you which suggest that there is an average amount of possible harm and possible positive outcome for a teen with an older person as opposed to a teen with another teen. The outcomes show up as similar in P and N effects.

What I said was showing why it happened in the first place.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So you think making it legal for 41 year old women, even if they were authority figures, to have sex with 15 year olds would prevent these victims from getting drugged and violated.

What next? You going to insist the age of consent be lowered to toddler age?

Please do me a favor and close your mouth, sit down slowly so you don't injure your brain any further.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Slippery slope fallacies and ad homs will get you nowhere.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Neither is supporting rape of minors by forty-one year olds.

Nor is arguing a lowering of consent laws so that said forty-one year olds won't have to resort to drugging said minors.

Seriously, stop. Just stop.

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Do you even know what a slippery slope means?

[–]euphobot 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not only harsher penalties, an innocent man will face a tougher, more cavalier due process.

[–]AndrewLevin 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is self-evident to any thinking person that no such extreme leniency would have been offered to a male serial predator who drugged and preyed upon underage girls that were held in cages. More feminist “equality” please!

Four boys accused Listeau in particular.

But there were 11 total juveniles who complained against the staff at the facility for similar reasons, including leadership staff.

That and the Canyon County Prosecutor's Office states as a major accomplishment that they are "avoiding or mitigating numerous – and costly – potential lawsuits."

So the local authorities are focused more on cost than justice for the boys. While they do that, they ensure that a few monsters feel emboldened and lives remain damaged.

Guess i should just hire a woman to go rob a bank for me, and if they catch her, just have her plead not guilty. After all, if you don't plead guilty, that means you're innocent, right?

[–]d3k4y 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think we need to start educating our boys about sexual abuse. They made this decision after talking to the boys and most likely their parents too. If all the parties involved responded weakly or like they were into it or it wasn't a big deal, notch on the belt, etc, that could potentially make it harder to prosecute and lower the motivation to prosecute. If you're a public prosecuter with 500 fucking cases and the victims seem to not be craving justice or don't see a reason to push the issue further, the prosecute might just figure fuck it, we'll take the plea and close this in 10 minutes instead of putting months into it since they have so many other cases. By no means an I saying this is right, but until public impression changes and these women are truly seen as the dangerous predators that they, the change is going to be slow. And maybe that wasn't the case here, but I'm not seeing anything about the victims or their families showing outrage. Perhaps it's easier on the victim psychologically, but the parents should step in and call for the protections of their children and the children in the future. Keep the kid out of the loop if you think it's better psychologically for the kid. Again, maybe not the case here, but we've all seen it before and lots of people need to change how they look at these things.

So to use an analogy.

She was charged with 1st Murder but plead guilty to Jay Walking.

its no big deal. she was just doing her part to uphold the retributive penal system. Commit a crime as a male- Get raped on a nightly basis for the next X years as penalty.

[–]EgoandDesire 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is infuriating. When is the MRM movement going to start getting more vocal about shit like this? Feminism has gone unchecked for far too long now.

[–]Lhtfoot 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, since the justice system has clearly failed the community here...

What can Reddit do to make sure this CHILD SEX-OFFENDER receives proper justice?

[–]tonster181 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I seriously doubt anyone on reddit would have the stupidity to defend this decision. This is atrocious.

[–]mwobuddy 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Post it in a feminist sub and ask how come the feminarchy isn't calling for blood for a sex predator to get castrated and sent to prison for life.

[–]tonster181 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I find that most of the seriously misguided feminists are out to get a rise out of people. I'm pretty middle of the road, common sense as far as rights go. There are things we need to work on for both men and women. I honestly think that /r/MensRights is pretty open about that conversation, which is a great thing.

You underestimate the stupidity of reddit and more specifically the stupidity of SJWs.

Fuck I hope everyone remembers what she did an no one sends their kids to her.

[–]xynomaster[S] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You don't really get a choice. These were kids in a juvenile detention center where she worked.

According to their lawyer, they were all their for petty crimes like theft and drugs. He says they're pretty upset that they were jailed for longer for petty crimes than she will get for conspiring with others and drugging and raping several defenseless teenagers.

[–]ta1137 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a solution!!!

All men should start dressing as women and become transgendered women. After all that is the latest fad.

You wouldn't believe the shit you could then get away with.

And nobody these days can tell you aren't a women.

I am a fucking genius!!!

The Canyon County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement the plea deal was reached after a discussion with the victims and Skaug.

The victims agreed with the plea, which was undoubtedly a decision they did not take lightly. They may have even suggested dropping the sex assault plea in return for something not specified in this news article. Everything here was by the book. Not a mens rights issue.

[–]xynomaster[S] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't mean the victims agreed to the plea at all. It just says they "discussed it". If you look at the statement from the victim's lawyer he says the victims are disappointed with the plea and feel as if they were treated very unfairly because they were all imprisoned for minor offenses yet the woman who sexually abused them for months is getting less punishment for what should be a more serious crime.

I really wonder what that conversation was like.
