Female judges

I went alone with an attorney in front of the female judge (my ex did not want to attend) and informed her that my ex and I AGREED to no child support/alimony.

The judge looked at me in pure disgust.

"You cannot make that call" she said "we have a formula we use and the fact you made agreements mean nothing to me. You will pay, Mr. barsoom, and that is the law!"

I then informed her that my EX made DOUBLE what I did, and the kids were going to be with me 80% of the time.

"Oh" the judge replied. "in that case, we can go with the agreement you set up!"

I was FURIOUS.

"What about THE LAW???" I started to say but my lawyer, who was a friend, kicked me hard under the table to shut up.

To this day it pisses me off that this stupid Judge was going to burn me to the ground, but let my ex off scott free just because she was female.

Never, and I mean NEVER trust a female Judge in family court.

I did have a female judge in my AZ divorce. At the time, Alimony was 100% for yes/no, and for how much and for how long was solely on the discretion of the presiding judge.

We went to trial. My exwife refused to work, saying she was "too sick to work" and wanted every last dime she could get.

60 days post trial, the divorce decree came in. And it was 100% in my favor, exwife got $0 alimony, I kept my house and my car. I got 50/50 custody. My exwife kept her DUI fines (she argued they were a marital debt). And my exwife got 50% of my 401k.

I made out like a bandit. Exwife screamed for 2 days. She threatened to file an appeal unless I gave her $5000, but I told her, "go for it, file that appeal." She didn't file the appeal.

My judge is a woman here in our small town. She is ultra conservative and was very angry at my wife for all the shit she pulled. Wife admitted to her affair, scoffed when my lawyer asked why she refused to try and save our marriage, admitted she only wants my money and otherwise would take my kids from me, and was caught in a lie about her rape accusations.

Judge was pissed.

Temp 50/50 custody, mom does 2/3 the driving (She moved 180 miles away to live with AP) and no child support. I'm going to get primary custody it appears.

Remember that female judges climbed the ranks and worked their butts off. They've been lawyers and they've seen shit fathers. As long as you aren't one and you fight for your kids' best interests, it could go a long way. Stay sober, stay employed, stay quiet. My biggest enemy is my anger, and the only fear I have in court is the things I've said in the interim to my ex.

I had the perfect female judge. She was totally for 50/50 and my wife ended up paying child support. What pissed my judge off was my ex refused to give me pictures of my deceased father. Looking at the judges face she was disgusted by my ex.

Lol it's men who prop up the current system. It's men who came up with the current system.

Reading through for more detail. I think you will be fine. The fact CPS was included because of your wife's behavior is not going to look good to a female judge. I would argue a male judge would give more sympathy especially if she's pretty.

Less than 3% go to trial - Unless you two are arguing over a ridiculous sum of money or she’s just being horrible regarding custody the chances of it getting settled in trial are super low. It’s just hot air designed to scare you into just getting a settlement over with and get back to what’s important and that’s your kids.

In my experience it’s a non issue… unless you play games around child support or hide assets. Then it’s pit pull time

judges are human but in a run of the mill divorce it usually is not an issue

if you have not had brushes with LE you are likely ok

That’s why you pay your lawyer to step in and ensure your rights… no judge has any business being a judge if they can’t be impartial

If you’re going before a family court judge it’s already a toss up.

Family court does not require a jury of your peers to weigh in and then a judge sentences; the judge is in total control and that’s incredibly fucked.

The doco divorce corp’ does a marvellous job showcasing how broken the family court system is, and how it won’t be fixed because everyone in the divorce process is absolutely raking it in.

I(52) had a female judge when my Ex sued for not complying w/ parenting time amgt (she went mental and emotionally terrorized the kids when they were in 6th-7th and 8th to 9th grade during Covid. Kids got fed up and cut all contact.

This female judge was new for the attorneys and our original (male) judge had retired, so my male attorney was 50/50 on outcomes. During initial questioning she was not happy that I wasn’t punishing the kids for jot seeing their Mom and she didn’t like me sayin I wasn’t going to punish a child for asking for help from abuse. Ot really looked ugly when we broke. She semi-threatened my atty to not bring the kids up and my guy was like “well, your Honor, the case is about the kids. The other side didn’t want you to hear from them at all, so that alone bears some investigation”. Kids (M14/F17) went in one at a time, a little nervous, but both cane out really pumped. I can appreciate that judges want to make sure kids aren’t being used. Waited 30mins for judge to deliberate. Absolutely blasted my Ex w/ both barrels. It got awkward for a moment. This was October and judges ruled no parenting time through the end of the year; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and stipulations were that my son and his re-unification counselor would decide the pace and process. Happy result. But you know, $10K cash I didn’t want to spend.

I’ve actually seen male judges be harder on men than some female judges. While people do sympathize with people of their gender, they also have a mental standard for people of their gender. But I can’t see a female judge (especially if she has kids) favoring your ex given the info you shared in your comments.

Some women are disgusted and want to advocate for Justice ie blind. Depends if you get an idiot or an intelllectual.
