Thanks buddy....it's always good to know we aren't alone. It's been a year since her affair and blindsided me with a divorce...and while I'm better now than I was a year ago my health and mental state is crushed due to the way I had to cope with the betrayal and gaslight this pass year. Im slowly changing me ways...I hired a person trainer and I'm trying to cut back on the booze. I went no contact 6 months ago and I have no desire to communicate with her again after she just thru our 13 year marriage away like it never met anything. It's just seems so cold.

There is so much evidence out there on the internet now that proves marriage is a terrible idea for men, you'd have to be insane to even consider it under the current legal climate.

Yup I am convinced most (not all) get married just so they can walk away with half a man's wealth, it's a long term game for them but a very profitable one. Well said.

I agree with everything stated here. I do believe that it’s not as much women individually, but societal women as a whole. The conflict comes from the traditional values that are instilled on young women that they should seek security and home and family. However once they’ve established those things in their life, they want individuality and empowerment.

Those 2 beliefs struggle to coexist.

Ironically the archaic divorce laws and family court system supplement both of these narratives at the same time.

“Go, be independent, you don’t need anybody but yourself in this world!… but you still need support from this man over there.”

It’s a blind sexist contrast that 99% of women can’t see because they’re brainwashed by dollar signs and free money.

What if I think the one I'm with isn't like the others. I mean isn't that what everyone thinks of the woman they love and want to marry? And if you don't believe (correctly or incorrectly) that the woman you want to marry is special, want even marry her.

Plus, you don't really get to know how someone would behave in a bond like marriage. People are complex. And that complexity is compounded because people change.

Your wishes are appreciated BUT unfortunately "That and five dollars will get us a cup of Starbucks coffee." What really needs to happen is all men organizing to get the divorce laws changed to be more fair because right now the woman would have to be a proven axe murderer not to be given the upper hand by the courts in 99% of divorce proceedings.

The good thing is that many men are waking up to these injustices to them. If you are currently dealing with separation/divorce, it's important to keep your emotions in check. I know this can be easier said than done but remember, women get a pass for being irrational, men do not. This shall pass and life will get better, be strong. And if you have children, stay involved in their lives. Children need fathers.

Marriage sucks and divorce is a screw job for men! This is coming from a man whose been married 16 years and possibly headed for divorce! Split up all the assets, the house equity, she gets alimony, child support and you're lucky to get split custody if you're a good dad! The 14 years were pretty good but the last two have sucked!"What's the incentive again?

You're better off having a children with a woman who wants a kid but not marriage. I NEVER thought I would feel this way but it is what it is.....

Darn, I wish I had read this 15-years ago. It’s all true and they have no loyalty whatsoever.

The relationship neglect is killing me and I somehow hope to get past this. She admittedly said that she failed as my partner and I deserved to be happy. Thanks for the commitment lies at the altar and devastation.

The only consolation prize is the big payout from her assets. But that doesn’t heal or stop the pain!

It's mostly "western women" that think this way. Women from other parts of the world where people aren't as lazy still believe in loyalty, gender roles and protecting the family over everything. Just stay away from lazy, spoiled, fake American women.

This starts off reading like you're going down the path of an incel. Don't do that brother. You can harbor some negative feelings for your ex, but don't transfer that to every woman. Nothing good comes from that!

Women and men are both flawed creatures. Becoming the best version of ourselves for our kids and most importantly for yourself attracts the right individuals.
