I'll try to keep it short.

My (M48) wife (F46) have been married for nearly 20 years; we have 2 teenage children. Over the years, we have had many frequent, ugly fights. name calling, cursing, pushing, all of it. all sorts of really bad, immature exchanges. The last fight happened 6 weeks ago, after which I moved into the spare bedroom we have and have been no-communication with her ever since. We agreed to share the duties of the children 50/50, that's the most we've spoken. She refuses to seek therapy or counseling of any kind. I started Cog. Behv. Therapy today. I can't even see straight; I don't know if this can be salvaged, I don't know if we should divorce. We live in an extremely expensive city in CA. We are not vindictive people. We both work (me in tech, she in consulting); money is not an issue. we both work form home - that is an issue. I'm worried that divorce will 1) damage my children (more than has already happened), 2) be financially devistating for me, 3) somehow a mark of failure and guilt that I will not get past, and 4) throw away 20 years of hard marriage work. honestly, I just want to be alone. if anyone has thoughts or perspective to share, please help.
