It's been a couple weeks since my wife decided to tell me she wants a divorce. But then she's not sure, but she is. The back and forth is driving me crazy. I've felt physically alone for years with this woman but never wanted to end the marriage over a lack of sex. I didn't even realize the emotional detachment I was feeling until she said she wanted out. It's like a huge weight was lifted and I had this rush of happiness got new that I might actually get a chance to find someone that wanted to show emotion and intimacy once again. Problem is, we have a kid, and now she is back and forth on seeking counseling or just sperating and starting the divorce process. The one thing she is sure of, we wait until next spring at the end of the school year to separate. I want to either commit to counseling and start working out these issues now, or proceed with the divorce. After 6+ years of my needs being neglected, I don't want to wait another 10 months to move on with my life. I don't have another person in mind and I'm not going to cheat, but I feel like, at 44 years old, I just want to start the journey of meeting new people and connecting with someone. If we split today, I would be putting myself out there tomorrow. But if she wants to work it out, I'm open to doing so as long as there's is a chance she comes back to being emotionally and physically available again. TBH I don't think she can get there. But she wants us to both "work on ourselves" before we even start marriage counseling.

Is it wrong to start trying to meet people now? Not hooking up or even dating, I'm just talking conversation, online or virtual until the separation happens for real. I've been up front with her about this but she's trying to make me feel guilty for wanting to move on, she's not even thinking about meeting someone. It's all can think about.
