Tips:

Research how vulnerable your country, state, city/town, suburb is to the effects of climate change.
Educate yourself about extreme weather and climate events, and how to survive them. Have provisions set aside for such an event (especially a supply of back up power, and things to keep you warm if the power goes out).
Stock up on sun protective gear, and get yourself a few anti-pollution masks.
Rethink your career plans. Don’t choose a path with jobs that are non-essential or will soon be made obsolete by AI. Consider a career in STEM. If you have the access and opportunity to go into higher education, work hard and get yourself a ‘useful’ degree.
Take your savings and superannuation seriously. Really educate yourself about finances, and see if you have an opportunity to make a little side hustle.
Keep applying FDS rules.

I’ve switched to reusable and refillable personal products where I can. I’m a part of a CSA and try to grow some of my own food. I compost. I recycle and try to reuse plastic bags as many times as I can before actually throwing them away. I donate to climate research and buy products that in full or at least in part support clean energy, the oceans, clean air, preserving our forests, etc. I support small businesses, so as to decrease demand for big box stores and hopefully, someday, shrink their size altogether. I try to avoid Amazon- and seamless-ing too much, though I admit those two are weak spots I’ve been working on. Use cold water in the laundry. Use a reusable coffee cup and water bottle. Go to the library instead of buying the book new. Taking a lot of these small steps has led me to feel a little bit better at the end of the day. It’s also led to me making new friends and supporting local, small, women-owned businesses, and meeting their beautiful owners. 🌎 💗

I wonder the same. I live on the coast with predictions that sea levels will rise and destroy entire cities but investors and real estate owners continue to buy land right near the sea. I could be wrong but many investors try to lower risks as much as possible, wouldn’t they see a risk if there was immediate danger and sell property like crazy before it gets bad?

You’re not paranoid to be really concerned about this. Most people aren’t remotely aware of how it’ll effect their lives over the next few decades. Tackling climate change is going to be the greatest adversity humans will have to face. We’re already locked into a disastrous global temperature rise, and I know we’ll be dealing with the consequences of that across my entire lifetime.

I’m studying physical sciences in a western country. I’ll likely be fine, and I’m hoping i may be able to contribute to managing/solving the climate crisis.

However, those who are poorer and live in the over populated global south, are fucked. Far more women live in poverty, and have less access to resources than men. Countries in the global south have climates that are far more vulnerable to an increase in global temperature, and far less infrastructure to protect themselves against. We’re going to see an unbelievable rise in the number of refugees fleeing from these countries, and from what we’ve seen in the current crisis in North Africa and the Middle East, women: 1. Are usually left behind for dead. 2. Are more likely to be assaulted, raped and trafficked. 3. More likely to die crossing borders.

And whether or not other countries will be able to take them in and provide for them, or will want to (current rise in global fascism) is another thing.

That’s not to say that women in western or first world countries won’t disproportionately suffer either.

There's a lot of ways in which this world may go down, this included. What I found pretty relevant was this book called Survive The Economic Collapse, by Piero San Giorgio, which explains pretty rigorously every way this world might do wrong and the steps you need to do in case of each.

Focus on building a strong local network so you can look out for each other if shit hits the fan; invest in your mental resilience and building practical skills; have a plan for how you'd access food and water in a natural disaster scenario; store wealth outside the fiat system in crypto and bullion; retrain for a job that can't be replaced by automation. Finally, find an HVM - if you can, lol!!

Things I've done or been trying to do:

1)I've been buying books off thriftbooks. Medical books and all sorts of topics for when electricity goes out

2)Got sober from alcohol

3)Continuing to learn how to socialize with men

4)Trying to be as spiritually healthy as possible for when I'll have nothing

5)Trying to buy less

One of my biggest fears is men falling into savagery and women becoming sex slaves. It makes me want to find a good man before that so I feel more safe, is that bad?

Prioritize securing financial independence. Don't have kids (edit. Sorry I mean don't make kids, foster or adopt). Invest in relationships with family and friends, people you trust to have your back no matter what. Physical and mental health are linked so always work on those. Sometimes working out is the only thing that helps when I feel helpless and powerless about things going on in this world. Being physically strong and capable is never a bad thing and you will thank yourself as you get older. I'm hopeful that active euthanasia will be legal when/if I live old enough to seriously consider it and decide. Donate to causes that support people living in poverty, if you can, since women and children in those conditions will be affected the most.

I highly recommend a recent book called All We Can Save. It is a number of poems and essays all written by women who are very active in the climate movement. (Go figure, the movement has become mostly women)

It's often very rough, emotional reading, but like environmental science itself, it's hard truths combined with achievable solutions.

Things are always bad, things are also very good in other aspects, all around the world, for all people. If you only focus on negative things that are out of your control then yes, it will personally be worse because you'll overthink it, stress out and not live your life out of fear of what could be.

My advice is to keep leveling up and if you want to contribute to improve the world, do so in your immediate community, where you can see the effects and impact of your work. And to stop watching the news as much if it is affecting your life. Not saying turn a blind eye on these very real problems buuuut maybe we don't need to stress over it and can work on a smaller, measurable scale.

It’s important to not get too ahead of ourselves. Have kids if you want them, don’t feel guilty about it. I don’t think any of us here will still be in our fertile years by the time that world chaos gets so extreme that we’ll need to stock up on bc, should such a reality come to fruition in our lifetimes. However it is really serious and ultimately do what you need to do to be safe! Y’all are scaring me!

It will be bad for everybody tbh, scrotes are not immune to climate change. People should seriously consider if they want to have children considering the state of the world. They’re delusional if they think climate change will allow them to force a return to 1950s housewife culture. Once anyone has tasted freedom, they will never want to return to their old lives and they will fight tooth and nail to keep it. I’ve never lived in fear of scrotes, I would rather die than not fight for women.
