Porn, like anything, can become addictive.

Porn, for most men, is a habitual daily thing. Based on the DSM5 definition, a large amount of men are psychologically if not physically addicted to it.

Like many addictive things, porn has incredibly toxic side effects, i.e. misogyny, female degradation, pain towards women, etc. Additionally, like most addictions, they need more and more depraved shit to get off. It also means they have a harder time connecting to real women and can lead to erectile issues. Nothing about that is cute, desirable, whatever.

Defending it is insane.

One look at the most popular porn categories proves this point. Babysitter porn, incest porn, teen porn with "just turned 18" as a top sub category.

Any other women here enjoy porn and working to break the habit? Reading this thread I was a little afraid/embarrassed to voice that but wanted to share that perspective and maybe if others can relate, offer/receive some mutual support. As a bi woman, I honestly get super turned on watching women in porn but I can admit it has become a bit problematic for me on different levels so I've been trying to minimize my use of it and hopefully can get to the point where I stop altogether. I agree it is largely a very unhealthy habit and an industry that contributes to degradation and abuse of women on a massive scale and I def don't want to support that in the slightest.

I'm also a bit curious how this sub would feel about porn if it were genuinely more pro-women, ethically produced, and empowering (i.e. actually created and produced by women and more for the female gaze, scenes that emphasize and cater to women's pleasure, practices that ensure all the performers are safe, respected, an appropriate age, etc.) or if "ethical porn" (there's probably a better term that my brain can't unearth right now) is an outright oxymoron.
