Yes! I drive regularly through a street, and there's two separate, giant ads for wrinkles, that say "it's all fun and games... until a wrinkle appears" and they have this crazy young female model with a sad face checking out a nonexistent wrinkle!
Fuck that shit. I now declare wrinkles are a symbol of perseverance. We got to this point in life, one way or another. Celebrate those wrinkles, goddammit!

When I found my first grey hairs my daughter threatened to pull them and I slapped her hands and said hell no damn it i earned at least one of these from you!

I have some grey hair. When I got my first grey hair my sister said "you have grey hair!" like it was such big deal. I did not care than and do not care now.

My mom is 65 and barely has any grey hair. Here I am being sad I won’t get to rock silver locks till I’m 80. 😞

You never know what might happen. My maternal Grandma is 86 and only has a little bit of grey hair that you can't see unless she points it out. She always says "i have grey hair here" with pride and "I think grey hair is pretty". My mom went grey earlier than she did. I was so happy when she stopped dying her hair. Honestly her grey hair is so beautiful with her darker natural color. I know it will be gorgeous when it fully turns grey. To me grey hair is an attractive color on women.

I feel this hard. My relationship with makeup is so warped... I love putting it on, but also have worn it to work almost every workday at every job for, jeez, almost decades. The thought of not wearing it to work is so randomly hugely anxiety-inducing.
I'm just so sensitive to hearing "Whoa, you look exhausted" & "Oh no, are you sick?" over & over 🤦♀️

I relate to this so much. I don't feel "put together" at work without a full face of makeup. There are plenty women who don't wear makeup and I don't even notice it or care who wears what, but for some reason I uphold these ridiculous standards for myself.
I've been trying reduce the amount of makeup I wear, and today I only wore mascara so that was a big leap for me! I mean, wearing a mask helped, but still. Getting there!

Consider a sunscreen (min spf 30) with a tint. I find the products to be less harsh on my skin and wrinkles aside skin cancer and melanoma are legit concerns. Also, the tint is minimal but evens out skin tone so it could be a good transition if you feel too much anxiety about going no makeup.
I’ve never been big into makeup because I had acne. I take really good care of my skin and sometimes I feel so good about it that I don’t want to put anything on my face because it diminishes my natural beauty. (Or I’m delusional from my post wall happiness and self- love at 39.😂🤣)

Great idea with the tinted moisturizer with SPF. Have you tried any brands that you recommend?
I'd love to get to a point where I feel totally comfortable without wearing makeup! I'm getting there but it's still a struggle some days.

I get you, it does sound hard. That being said... it's literally just in your head. It's patriarchal conditioning and you can overcome it if you try hard enough. I literally never wear make-up. I don't even own a single mascara. You know what people say to me at work? Nothing. They're as used to my natural face as I am. Hell, I also don't shave my legs/pits and nobody bats an eye. It can be done if that's something you'd be interested in.

Watch "I'm not an easy man" on Netflix, it has the gender roles swapped. They have push-ups for saggy balls and even cosmetic operations for the severe cases. I highly recommend this movie!

omg this totally reminds me of an incident that recently happened in korea. it was an advertisement for stuff you need for grilling/picknicking and there was a sausage on a fork and a hand next to it doing this 🤏🏻. it was meant to show how good it is and that you want to grab it but men immediately freaked out and said that this advertisement is sexist towards men by saying their dicks are small? it doesn't even make sense but men make absolutely everything about their dick. the company even had to put out a public apology and withdraw the advertisement. absolutely ridiculous.
edit: my point is basically that men can't even handle ads that aren't even about them while women are expected to be okay with advertisements that scrutinize their looks every single day.

The men's reaction to that is actually even worse. In SK, feminists are extremely hated. And the biggest feminist group is called Megalia and their logo is 🤏 to make fun of men and their tiny dicks. So now if anyone makes that sign, they get attacked. Like this female comedian called Jaejae who is very androgynous and doesn't follow beauty standards, ate a piece if chocolate between her thumb and index finger and as a result there has been literal petitions with over 100k signatures to remove her from her shows. It didn't work ofc but it was still extremely ridiculous.

Adding on to this, I was reading an article today about a South Korean female comedian who uses a male doll in her routine (not sure if it was like a Ken size doll or human sized doll) and scrotes were literally trying to get her arrested for sexual assault because of the routine!! 🤮

Yep Park Narae, she's so funny and cool. Their excuse was that the other guest is in a kid's show even though the show they were in had a blaring PG-15 rating in the beginning. I was seriously afraid that she will get dropped from her shows because of it but thankfully it didn't happen.
Another less serious case was the male fans meltdown whenever a female idol recommends a feminist book, wears something with a feminist anthem on it or in one case has something like "women power" in their phone case. The male fans would burn their merch and cry misandry because the pure submissive female fantasy they have of these singers gets shattered.

The one that's getting me lately is "puffy face". I have a few health issues that cause others to stress about "puffy face" or "moon face". Tbh I'm not convinced it's even real. Never has a man ever complained about this and I've never noticed it on myself but some women on these health issue subs are driving themselves crazy over it almost every day.

I spent 2 weeks in Morocco 🇲🇦 and it was so nice to not see ads for beauty products or the public objectification of women everywhere. (I recognize that behind the scenes lives of Moroccan women is a different story😱)
Then I had a layover in Switzerland (I suspect lib fem paradise) and even just walking through the airport I felt toxic by all of the beauty ads I was exposed to.

Did anyone see how rabid the media went for the female cast members of “Friends” at their reunion? I’m not a huge fan but I felt I had to watch it - just because the reviews were focused on faces and were also cruel. Sure enough-the girls were held up to a way higher standard than the guys. (The programme was cringe, but I thought they all looked good, but in the press the women were singled out).

I also wish self-depricating humor about one's attractiveness could be a thing of the past too. "Uhh omg I've put on two pounds, I have a spot on my face, I'm so ugly at the moment tehehe" Please, stop. All its doing is making the woman your talking to more self- conscious of the spot they have on their face and the pounds they have gained, too. It's Time to normalize woman liking themselves and being confident. Positivity breeds more positivity. It's not even an unnaturally pretty model, it's a model that happens to tick the most boxes when it comes to the expectations society has at the particular time period and place about appearance. Real beauty transcends the beauty standards.
Not to mention heavy photoshop, video editing, professional make up, corsets, professional lighting, and the model knowing how to pose and the exact angles that appeal to the audience the most because, duh, it's her job.

This is why curation is so important.
How many times have you seen someone complain about something they choose to consume? I'm not talking about the ever-present ads and things we really can't avoid, I'm talking about people who choose to follow instagram/twitter/tiktok/whatever content that is doing this. If you're a straight woman with an IG full of strange women's asses, WHY? Or FB full of people you don't know or don't like? Or tiktoks of a thousand women (and men) showing you how to look like an on-duty drag queen? Aspiration is one thing; self-flagellation is another.
I'm not saying this constant barrage is our own fault, I'm just suggesting to be conscious of what you're putting into your brain. If you want an IG gloriously replete with kittens and rescued goats, you can do that! Our media choices have never been broader — take advantage of it. (And trust me, the people pulling the strings notice.)
