I wanted to thank you all. You've honestly helped me realize things about myself that I've never even thought to challenge. I realizes I've been tackling the wrong "flaws" my entire life! I've spent so much time and money and effort trying to be a "good" girlfriend, a "good" feminist. Defending men whenever speaking about female issues in the hopes to get them on my side. But it never happens, and it is so exhausting. And as I get older I see every woman in my life in a terrible relationship while they tell me my standards are too high. My standards have always been bare minimum (Clean, owns a car, pays taxes, doesn't smoke) and that's too much according to them. And then I found this sub.

  • I'm no longer terrified of turning 25 in a couple months Without giving too much away, my elderly mother lives with me and I support her. I've been feeling sorry for myself, knowing I won't get to live alone until I'm at least -gasp- thirty! I never realized it, but I was putting all my value as a woman into my youth. My life won't end at thirty. I'm ashamed for even thinking this.
  • I've slowly grown disgusted by the kinky sex I used to enjoy, and now I know why My sex drive was entirely based on men's pleasure and I genuinely never questioned it, even when after sex I felt so vulnerable, needy, and alone. "Thats what aftercare is for!" said other unknowing victims.
  • I've always split the bill on the first date to show I'm ~sensitive to men's obligation to pay for everything, I'm self sufficient, and totally ~chill Guess where that's gotten me? Abso-fucking-lutely nowhere. Never again
  • I'm enrolling in college to get myself a damn degree I'll be honest, college has always terrified me. I got accepted after high school, went for six days and then left to go be with a boyfriend who ended up being useless. No one in my family has ever gotten a degree, I plan to be the first. I have great leadership and management skills being wasted.
  • I realized how important girl friends are I'm ashamed to say, I haven't had a female best friend since puberty. I've spent so much of my life around men, always telling myself I was more comfortable around them. And it's because men are so simple, and other women are intimidating to me at times. I let myself go the easy route, and look where that's gotten me.
