Learning more and more I don’t have to be nice. I’ve tolerated too much bullshit in the past to maintain ‘niceness.’ If I’m not getting valued the way I should be then the right thing to do is remove myself and I don’t have to feel bad about it. My LVM dad thought I “disrespected” him, so he decided to go back to his usual vitriolic, personal attacks. It’s exhausting. I told him I’m sorry he felt that way. This was over a month ago and despite me not actually doing anything wrong I know I’m going to end up needing to apologize (for nothing) to keep the peace eventually. It’s going to be one of those, “oh we were bOtH iN tHe WrONg” bullshit things males need to hear to calm down and even admit they did something unacceptable in the first place.

I'm part of a woman accountability group and have gotten really big into fitness. It's come to a point where I'm encouraging my friends to pick up running (as that is what I'm passionate about most outside lifting). I had a [male] friend reach out to me today asking about how to go about getting the right kind of shoes to get started in running. It feels really good to be turned to for advice!

Last night I was invited to go out to drink but I turned it down to workout because my body is a priority.

I tell my group and it's like I'm talking to a brick wall about my successes.

Put yourself first and stay with those that support you on your successes. I won't be sharing my successes anymore with them.
