I remember one time someone said sth about males contraceptives, like the pill and men were going nuts about the possible side effects while I just thought those are not even as bad as the ones women get from hormonal BC.

I kind of believe this on a personal level.

I don't want kids, and one of my main concerns in dating is that someone with not want kids right now, and find that I'm convenient to date because I can be trusted to get an abortion.

So now I won't keep relationships where the guy doesn't get a vasectomy within 6 months of becoming exclusive.

Hypothetically:

he doesn't want kids
I don't want kids
birth control and condoms kind of suck
male sterilization is easier than female sterilization

It's now a requirement in my dating life. It's really the only proof I have that they want the same lifestyle as me and take the initiative to achieve it. Vasectomies are reversible, and men can freeze their sperm too, and their younger sperm is better anyway, if they actually care about having kids.

Aside from that: How about more male contraceptives, where only one, the condom, is safe to reverse? Fund your research, you have all the privilege in the world. Like for Bimek SLV or Vasalgel. No? I think the jury is still out on whether all vasectomies are 100% reversible, but it raises an interesting hypothesis about how men don’t have any accountability in their reproductive role. They either wear a condom or sleep with a woman on BC or they literally don’t even think about it at all. Birth control benefits all of society, why do women have to have all the accountability? And why do men think their bodies are pristine temples that mustn’t be tampered with in any way while we take pills, get implants, get IUDs, get more hormones, get less hormones, go through side effects, gain weight, lose weight, get heavier periods, lose our periods, get acne... it’s really fucked up

I don’t take hormonal birth control due to side effects and I won’t get implants or other more invasive procedures done. I also made clear to previous partner and wanna-be partners that I will not abort an accidental pregnancy. It seems to weed out a lot of loser men who refuse to take responsibility for their role in creating a baby and think the world should revolve around their peepee.

Technically, vasectomies aren't supposed to be looked at as a form of birth control or temporary sterilization. They're supposed to be permanent like getting your tubes snipped or clamped.

Edit: That's what I was told by a woman doctor when I was trying to reason with her that I should get a tubal ligation at age 23 because men my age get less pushback when they want to just walk into a clinic and get a vasectomy. Then she started talking about my fUtuRe HuSbAnd and my UnBorN chILdRen. I also read a lot of sources online that said the same thing. Sorry if I was wrong.

Even though I take my birth control with perfect accuracy (which despite the side effects I’d still do if I was single because it’s the only thing that’s been able to get rid of 95% of my acne and I tried a lot of things) and I’ve made all my partners get tested and have always refused to sleep with any person who isn’t committed to me in a relationship...... I still make them wear a condom every single time. It’s just a matter of principle- If I have to take responsibility for protection against a pregnancy I’m not ready for, I’m making the man take responsibility for protection against a pregnancy he’s not ready for. It’s only fair.
