As someone who is currently a giant red flag (woman, working on it in therapy and etc) I can definitely say these are things that I do and I’m learning not to... and I’m extremely toxic.

I never let a man get past the "lovebombing" stage, but I couldn't really explain why it made me so intensely uncomfortable and didn't know it was a symptom of abuse. I just thought it was ridiculous someone would talk about how amazing I was constantly and they hardly knew me. Felt like I could never have a real conversation either because I would try to engage and they'd say something dumb like "You're so sexy with your mouth open like that." It wasn't only annoying but patronizing.

So many people think it’s normal for the beginning of the relationship to be like overboard lovey dovey and makes you second guess yourself if your relationship doesn’t look like that. Someone told me my relationship isn’t official bc we don’t post each other on social media and we aren’t all over each other 24/7 and at first it made me have doubts like maybe he’s not that into me but then I remember we took the time to slow down and really get to know each other and build trust, not mask that by all that excessive affection stuff in the beginning. That’s how you get 6 months or a year into a relationship then suddenly realize they’re not who you thought they were

I can see my NVM ex using this to neg me when I would escape from the gaslighting by disappearing on my bike for a whole day. He's convinced his gfs/wife are all abusive to him because (he told me he was divorced) they walk away from him and disappear for hours/ days. In his wife's case, weeks. She responds with reactive abuse when she can't get away. No pity for him.
