I’m so glad someone brought up Gilmore Girls! Totally agree with Jess being the worst. Remember when Dean and Rory broke up because she couldn’t stop lusting after Jess, who won her affection by taunting and insulting her? So much ew.

I didn’t realize when I was younger what a good role model Emily was. Better than both other women in the family. “This is not a drive through! She’s not fried chicken!” Love it 😂

Thank God someone finally did a post on this LOL it pained me to see Rory’s downfall as the show progresses. Regarding Mitchum and his constructive criticism, she could have proved him wrong (season 1 Rory would’ve) and kept going at Yale. However, it seems that growing up, Rory has been told by her own mother and everyone at stars hollow that she’s a golden child who could do no wrong and it definitely got to her.

And omg don’t get me started with Jess… major NVM…. Incredibly manipulative and absolutely emotionally distant in every single way. Also, I don’t remember which episode, but when Jess told Rory that he put in all the “effort” to try and get her and now that he did, he doesn’t need to anymore 🤢🤢

I LOVE Gilmore girls and have no shame in shouting it! But Rory is incredibly annoying sometimes and really does have the worst taste in men.

Emily was hardcore and I love her, and Lorelai worked damn hard to own her own business, raise her kid as well as she could, she went to evening classes to keep learning, etc; considering she had a mother who seemed very self assured and independent Rory definitely seemed to need a relationship. Atleast Lorelai was described being that way before the series started and sort of going through it (Chris, urgh)

I know Rory’s path was always to shadow her mothers and I hope she’d have learnt to be more self sufficient once she had her baby and set a good example.

The real tragedies of Gilmore Girls, my absolute G's Paris and Lane. The show did them so dirty there's no words. Lane was such a fantastic character who was given the shaft in a huge way, she had more personality and drive in her thumb then Rory had in her whole body. Paris too.

Both their backgrounds were deep, sorrowful, complex and amazing as well. Paris with her absentee and neglectful parents, being raised by her nanny. Always an outsider in some way and she focuses all her energy into being the best because she has to be. And then her parents go bankrupt which is fine but they make it so Paris who was in every damn club and the president of all of them didn't get into Harvard??? That she didn't get Valedictorian?? We all damn well know her marks were better then Rory's and so was her portfolio. Then she goes to college and gets preyed on by some piece of shir geriatric and we're supposed to let that slide?? Also didn't appreciate Rory's judgement, she should of had her back not that superficial hands off friendship.

Then my girl Lane. I'm assuming no father and a dictator for a mother who can't communicate properly, as well as being Korean American in a neighbourhood that looked like just white people as far as the eye could see. She's stifled, she's rebelling and she loves music. She gets a band, moves out and even goes on tour. She should've been a damn rockstar, she should've got out for that town and maybe had a reconciliation with her mom down the line, her relationship with her mom was very Emily/Lorelai imo and it deserves screen time. Instead she gets stuck in that town, falls for that loser because the actor of the guy she was actually seeing in the show left, so they just threw whatever at her. And then she gets pregnant from this scrub and becomes a mom. With her dreams out the drain.

Sorry y'all I feel ways, and I had to get it out. Loved Paris and Lane and fuck the writers for their treatment. If you need to shit on the stories of the other female characters to try and do something with your lead, the problem is the writing. And they fucked up Rory too so it was all for nothing.

Gilmore Girls was my favorite show when I was a teen... I can't watch it anymore.

The romantic relationships are terrible and most characters are toxic.

JESS! Everytime I have rewatched the show I've always hated him. He's the worst, violent, tries to force himself on her (wtf), ditches her, prick to her mum and everyone else, ghosts her all the time, and so on. Then HE'S THE ONE that makes her realize she needs to go back to Yale?? (what?).

Yeah some of his "antics" were funny, but he's always been trash.

pre-marriage Dean was probably the best boyfriend she had, but I did always have a thing for Logan.

god how did you know I’m watching GG atm?!? It’s my first time watching and i’m already on second ep of a year in the life (already knew spoilers but thanks for the spoiler alert). I cannot believe this is the second time she’s sleeping with a man who has an SO. It’s so awful (it takes two to tango of course but … I cannot). I love logan physically/personality wise, but he’s a cheater so he’s out. Dean is also a cheater. Jess is an emotionally unavailable asshole but he doesn’t cheat with anyone as far as I can remember? It doesn’t matter though bc he makes up for it with all his issues. the bar is low and all of them suck, including rory lol. I do especially hate the way people romanticize the crap out of rory/jesse though, when I feel like emotionally he’s the most messed up of them all.

And she started so well! Smart, self sufficient, Dean was great to her and had nice dates and gift ideas. He had bad moments sometimes but I guess it was for the drama. But all in all, Dean was the best bf she had. Unfortunately, later on he showed he was a bad bf and husband when he got with the other girl. The other girl didn't deserve him treating her like that.

I was a teenager when this show aired and I never was interested in it. Fast-forward two decades and I watched it on Netflix last year. I can't stand most of the people on that show. 🙄 My younger self had a moment of good judgment in avoiding it.

I think Rory accurately portrays the typical millennial who did all the “right things” and got all the bad consequences from it. She had all the ambition and tools to achieve what she needed, but did not have the real life experience that would have kept her a HVW. Lorelei was a good example of someone who had the life experience and grit and became a HVW, but Rory was just simply way too spoiled.

She had most things handed to her and when things got tough she could just quit and move in with her grandparents. She had no ability to take critique and simply quit school after having one bad internship review. The more spoiled she became, the worse her relationships got until she became a forever girlfriend to an engaged man. She is literally the millennial cautionary tale. Even if you have all the brains, don’t lose sight of who you really are and common sense. She completely lost sight of that in Yale.

Rory Gilmore is in my opinion the worst character of gilmore girls. There are so many examples to prove it. Yes everyone makes mistakes once in a while but rory makes them in a daily basis. • When ever Lorelai made a bad decision, she knew it and felt bad about it, but rory always stopped talking to her and was mad about her. For example when she slept with chris rory just thought about her self and asked lorelai if she hated her so much that she had to ruin the relationship she and her father had and if she ever thought about rory would feel about it but the truth is lorelai always thought about rory •Rory is a shitty daughter to lorelai, she constantly uses her • same with lane, she only uses her • she is spoiled and denies it completely, if the money is short she asks her grandparents or later when she is made about them that they cared for her and tried to help after she throw her life away she asked her dad who just got rich to pay for yale. And if we are completely honest she just started creating a relationship with her father after he got rich and was useful for her •she is a cheater her whole life (she kisses jess even though she is with dean, she sleeps with dean even though he is married and as an excuse she uses “he was my boyfriend first” but she broke up with him to be with jess, she kisses jess even though she is with logan, she has a boyfriend but has an affair with logan even though he is engaged, …) •she thinks she is perfect and never wrong • she thinks she is to good for a job (even though she isn’t) and later on complains that they didn’t hire her •she constantly uses people around her •when someone gets mad at her, she storms of angrily because she thinks she is never wrong and other people should never be mad at her • she constantly blames others for her mistakes • she doesn’t respect boundaries ( when lorelai told her not to go to anna’s shop but she did anyway or when she shouldn’t ask her grandparents for money and so on..)

These are just a couple of things rory did wrong and the list goes on and on.. Rory is the worst Character in the show and u can’t prove me wrong.

In my opinion rory is the worst girl any of her boyfriends have been with. Sure Dean, Jess and Logan aren’t the greatest them self but I think rory is way worse then them.
