This used to annoy me as felt they were invalidating my words and hurt at the hands of their gender. I hoped that once just once a man would realise my needs matter and listen and understand that it was not about them personally but realised most just are so sensitive.

I hate when men comment that. Always trying to protect all men for whatever fucking reason. ...so, I actually hear this more from women. I don't know what y'alls experience is, I'm sure it's different, this is just what I've noticed personally.

The handful of guy friends to whom I've talked about shitty male experiences have gone, "Jesus, women have to put up with a lot. I'm sorry that happened to you."

By contrast, my girl friends will nod and be like, "That's hard. It's a good thing there are still good guys out there like (boyfriend/husband)." And each time I'm just a little nauseated. It should be clear I'm not talking about their boyfriend/husband. When I talk about shitty treatment I am talking about a specific male in a specific circumstance who did a specific thing to me. But every female friend has had the need to insert this, like they're uncomfortable that I'm bashing men while I talk about ONE PARTICULAR GUY WHO HAS DONE A PARTICULAR THING THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR FUCKING PARTNER BECKY
