Sometimes it takes time for someone to come around.

When you're training to be an acrobat at age 20, you'll need to stretch and practice everyday for many years to get to the level of acrobats that have been training since they were 5yrs old.

When someone's trapped in a toxic mindset for so long...some their entire lives, it's hard to change. I applaud everyone who's trying to level up out of toxicity, women and men included. It's a rough and long road but, being proud of who you are, is better than sex.

All a HVW can do to help is spread the info and hope they figure it out themselves. This applies to all subjects.

Yesterday I was doing henna on my niece's hair and the whole time one of her long time pickme friends was blowing up her phone. It's all these tiktoks and memes about "that one friend" whose essentially the unpaid therapist of the group because teehee her friends r liek tolly a mess! Niece looks like steam is about to come out of her ears and is ignoring so I ask her why. She says this friend has a long history of ignoring advice and running directly into trouble of the abusive bf sort then freaking out for weeks. Most recently: she had sex with a openly racist verbally abusive pos ex because he invited himself over, and when pressed about why said at least he came over with chicken nuggets. I'm dying inside for her.

Anywho she starts with the "(niece) are you mad?? Come on laugh with me!" right around the time I see this post, so I showed her to make her laugh. She sent it directly to the pickme who apparently only likes jokes about the people with empathy she can take advantage of for years because that got left on read!

So glad my current partner isn't into it. I was beat as a young child and I don't remember it but I can't even wear necklaces because they are such a huge trigger. I remember friends in school trying to poke my neck and laughing because I'd start freaking out & hyperventilating. Even looking at this image makes me get that cringe recoil feeling because of the object around his neck, and I can't even watch movies where they choke or cut people's necks in a scene. One partner tried it with me and I screamed and he moped around the rest of the day because he "didn't know what he did wrong waahhh" (even though he'd known long before we were together). My current partner is amazing and it's great I can feel safe during sexy times =)
