Why do you think men (especially older males) immediately assume that younger women are dumber than they are?

Honestly it’s because younger women have usually not figured men out yet. They tend to still be idealistic and hopeful about men in general and much more willing to “communicate” and “compromise” to please men.

Another thing is confidence. Many women will tell you that their 30s were characterized by a lot more confidence and clarity about who they are and what they want — and an unwillingness to apologize for it or settle for trash.

So a 32 year old confident accomplished woman with boundaries is NOT putting up with the same crap as a 24 year old who’s insecure and still figuring her life out.

They know this and they attempt to exploit it.

The thing is, women are figuring this stuff out at a younger age (thankfully). We see more and more younger women here who are applying FDS before having to learn things the hard way.

Also the poster who mentioned projection is correct. They are dumb and shady and insecure and assume everyone else is too.

This used to drive me bonkers when I was in my 20s. I would get all manner of condescending treatment from both men and women. My personal favorite was when I would get called “Miss” at work and they’d ask me a question, and then imply I was too stupid to know the answer and that I should ask someone else. I’ve always looked about ten years younger than I am, so that doesn’t help. Someone even told me once that their dog could do my job. 😅

There is definitely this disconnect between men and women that I’ve seen where they conflate being cooperative with stupidity. Social skills are seen as being naive. Because they are predatory and projecting that if you can’t see that they’re trying to prey on you you’re dumb. But they don’t get that they’re the ones with the antisocial behavior that one is not “stupid” for not predicting because there are plenty of nice cooperative people in the world that don’t exhibit predatory behavior.

I’m 37 and I look at most, 25. I have to fight at every turn for people to take me seriously unless I’m already in a position of power. While my intelligence about men, self love, and my career has grown over the years, I was still fucking brilliant at 25. In fact, I would say that I I could debate the best when I was in my teens, I had so much energy and could remember so much more!

I think the whole thing is wildly inappropriate. I can’t be the only person who’s spoken to a four-year-old or an eight-year-old and been blown away by their understanding of the world. I’ve also spoken to people much older than me who were drastically under educated in comparison or never learned how to think critically.

Maybe that's why they think they can get with a "younger women," which is something that was running through my mind today.

I don't know how many dammm times I have seen so many men in their 30's and above repeatedly state that they can get a woman in their 20's. Stay in your lane buddy. Us young women ain't looking for no uncle or grandpa looking MF!

Society also perpetuates this narrative that young women are frivolous, vain, superficial, and above all, less intelligent than men. Never mind the scientific evidence that shows how female human brains mature faster and all the anecdotal evidence of young women being badass in their pursuits. The narrative that young women are dumb helps to facilitate the brainwashing that, because they are so helpless and pitiful, they need to rely on someone - namely, a man - to do anything. Women get rewarded for playing into this stereotype (eg dating advice about pretending not to know how to do something, not coming across as opinionated, etc). In the end, it’s just men’s sad little egos needing to feel they’re “winning” (lording) over other groups they perceive to be inferior. Women are the common denominator because we are the most vulnerable members of society

The older men who usually go after younger women or teenaged girls to feel superior and to have someone to shape/mold into what they want. They want an emotional punching bag. They want someone they think are "below them" intellectually... someone they can gaslight by saying "I'm older and smarter, you know nothing". Someone with less life experience. These men are predators.

I've dated people a decade or two my senior. They were narcissistic lvm. They used the "with age comes experience" and "shut up you stupid (insert misogynistic slur here)", and "you have no right to be upset. You're only (X amount of years) old, you don't know real pain yet. That's not abuse. I'll show you real abuse".

Of course they treat younger women (and all women in general) like we're intellectually inferior. Narcs tend to think they're better than everyone. There's a reason the lvm age gap seekers don't want anyone over the age of 30; we've learned, been burned, and won't put up with shit.

I've seen young guys mansplain older female professionals. They're raised to think they're superior to us. A younger woman just charges them up because of her lack of life experience. They're so obviously insecure it's disgusting.

Women generally have a softer energy, and a lot of men see this as more of a weakness and have a hard time believing softness and intelligence can coexist. That's my take on it. Men who are in touch with their feminine side don't have this issue.

Yep. Many a time they told me, without knowing me, that I was so “sweet and innocent” and “a clever girl”, but it wasn’t a compliment. It was their proclamation that I was naive, vulnerable and not too bright, even though I was way more educated and self-aware than them (not saying education = intelligence), but the disparity in intellect maturity was vast. I found it amusing to be underestimated by intellectually stunted men in their 40s pursuing me in my mid-twenties based on their unexamined assumption I’d be easily manipulated and coached by them, when in reality I’d run rings around them for lols until I got bored.

haha, this works the other way around as well. Young women have to be dumb, so a smart young woman must not actually be so young. I met a guy yesterday at the gym and we had a conversation after I had mistakenly grabbed his phone (same model). He thought I was in my thirties because we talked about our respective careers (mine: data science, his: part-time waiter). In fact at 24 I am 3 years younger than him.
