I honestly don't know where else I would post this and I think there are a lot of educated and intelligent women on this sub to give me decent advice.

I will try and make this as brief as I can.

I am an engineer and in my first year of school I completed a placement in public sector in which I did well and made a good enough impression on the team I worked with. (I am the only woman that has ever worked in this department btw)

I went back to school and about a year after completing the placement was contacted by the supervisor and shift-engineer asking if I was interested in a position. One of the engineers had to take a leave of absence because of poor health so they could only offer me a 6 month contract until they figure out whether he is coming back or not. They have 2 years to keep renewing the contract until they have to offer me the full-time position- which I have seniority over.

My job is amazing, pretty laid back, perfect hours, fairly clean, close to home, and I am paid well. I only work with 1 other engineer at this location and he has been here for 30 years. This guy is a literal sociopath. My old boss when I started told me not to get too comfortable too fast. I didn't know what he meant but now I'm starting to understand. We now have a new manager and supervisor who both work at the main office.

Basically its almost been 6 months which means my contract is up for discussion in terms of what the next steps are and this included a meeting with my boss after I completed an employee review and evaluation of myself. My boss showed up one day when the psycho was on his days off to discuss the feedback that was given.

I have debated for a few months now whether I should address these issues with management but I thought I could handle it and wait until I was finally full time. I'm up against a man who has 30 years protection from the union.

These are some of the issues: (keep in mind that this guy is NOT my supervisor)

-He once told me I was useless to him if I didnt have my pager on me (he locked me out of the office) in which my keys and pager were when I was in the bathroom

-He has ripped things from my hands while I was trying to problem solve

-He has had angry passive aggressive outbursts on me

-He has rolled his eyes at me and when he is trying to "teach" me something its done in a way that seems condescending and creepy.

-If there is something he wants or needs instead of communicating it to me he will just wait and then complain about it which appears that he just wants to make me look bad

-He has talked poorly about literally every single person around us. I have never heard him say anything positive

-If he catches heat for not doing something for other workers on time he will just blame me even though its not my job to do and then tell them to complain about me

-He will give me incorrect misleading information which leads to things not getting done "that is this person's/departments job"

-His wife works in the same building. I have heard that she is unstable and insanely jealous.

-He has made homophobic and xenophobic comments

-There was a plumber I'm friends with who also had a friendship with my coworker for 4 years and then he starts throwing him under the bus and making things up and causing all these issues for no reason whatsoever.

Imagine the only person you have to rely on is someone who has issues with their ego and doesn't have your best interest in mind. Or working with someone who wants you to do work so they dont have to but not better than them so that they can be replaced... but talks about retirement.

I honestly thought I was crazy until my boss came here to have a meeting and confirmed all of this.

Apparently I dont know anything, I lack motivation, I have trigger hair temper, I dont get things done on time...ect ect. This is my first job in my career as an engineer and this was understood upon hiring me. I know enough for him to take a week off + vacation days and run this place on my own though? I know enough for him to be okay with me taking after hour call ins to respond to emergencies? Weird.

My boss said things like "it probably doesnt help that his wife works here", "squeaky wheel gets the grease" , "we are dealing with someone who is on a thin line with the union", "there were complaints that were so ridiculous that I wouldn't even entertain them or write them down", "most of this is perception and this guy has close ties to staff here", "we have discussed transferring you but nobody wants to work with him and the personalities will be too strong", "you need to do petty things like call me every morning", "normally you would have gone through a rigorous training program, received procedures, blueprints..ect, and you received none of that", "youre working with someone who wants the authority of a supervisor but not the responsibility of one".

Anyway.. I'm exhausted and I dont know what to do at this point. I sent a professional email to management about the feedback I received but have yet to hear anything back yet. I'm the weak link on a contract at this point and even though I'm taking pictures, keeping my own personal logs, covering my ass and doing everything I should be doing it still wont be enough, and this asshole will keep trying to fuck with me because hes a sociopath.

Advice is welcome.
