I (an Asian American woman) have that "average" salary at my new(ish) job but I also have health, dental and life insurance, a 401K, pension, and HSA along with a savings account as my "fuck-you" money. My car and house are paid off in full too. I want to know how many of these men who make the same as or more than me have all of that going for them? I'm still leveling up and it's hard AF after years of depression and agoraphobia but at least I don't go around thinking like this guy do. Yikes, at trying to blame men's suicides on women instead of putting in the work to change and/or get a salary increase. And don't even let me get started on him going about race. What a freaking joke.

For me the problem is outside money and being a provider, men don't care to do nor participate in the Labour of being a partner. I have so many married/coupled girlfriends who literally on top of being the breadwinner, do it all: home work with the kids, shuttling offspring to school and setting up play dates, buying the household necessities, cooking and providing meals etc....this boohoo line of thinking is pathetic. Men need to widen the scope of their value add to women, beyond what they can monetarily provide. As opposed to wasting time on the Internet moaning about their self inflicted injustice.

We have standards. You can’t raise a family on 42k/year in most US cities unless you’re comfortable with poverty. Why should we aspire to so little? Every woman I know strives to better herself, why should she shackle herself to a man perfectly content with being “average”? Especially now that she doesn’t have to?

The rest of this guys statement makes no logical sense. First he blames women for his own mental illnesses. Then he somehow makes “women looking for rich men” as the THE cause for high divorce rates. Nah buddy, we’re just trying to get away from YOU.

Finally, nothing wrong with being an “old” single parent (I bet he means over 30 lol). Better than being a single parent in a relationship with a partner/spouse who needs as much mothering as the rest of your children.

I pride myself on being an ambitious overachiever, and I will accept nothing less from my partner. There are plenty of women who will gladly shack up with an average man. Let’s say I have a baby and need you to step up while I recover from birth, are you going to provide? Nope, instead of working overtime, finding another job or finding a second job, they’ll just complain and demand that the woman gets back to work as soon as possible.

On top of that, they still expect you to go 50/50 on bills and do most of the child rearing and housework.

I'm working parttime and earn around 60k a year. On top of that I have benefits like 30 days paid leave a year, my bonus and my free lease car (plus insurance and unlimited gas).

On top of that I live in a country that has universal healthcare, which means that my medical costs (chronic illness) are only 200 euros a month instead of thousands. This includes my medical insurance.

I also made the conscious decision to move to a slightly lower COL area because I was living in the (very expensive) capital.

I'm single and live comfortable and have everything I need, but I am nowhere near rich. I'm even postponing getting a dog (because of the costs of the dogwalker), till I get a raise and it's a more financially sound decision. These men are delusional. They either want a SAH mommy bangmaid, but still want her to go 50/50 (with what?) or a woman they can 'built with'. There's no way you can support a whole ass family with 42k.

I can't even imagine how shitty 42k is if you don't have insurance, universal healthcare or a social system that backs you up.

Edit: I want to bet that these men don't have any savings either.

So I’ll happily admit that both me and my partner are public sector so we don’t have a massive joint income but he inherited a house and some savings. Because there’s no mortgage we live comfortably (and British so free healthcare). There’s literally no way we’d have a child together now if we weren’t comfortable.

I absolutely sympathise with women who want a partner with a 6 figure (or equivalent salary). We don’t need to be saddled by someone else’s poorer financial situation and lack of ambition.

You never have to settle for below YOUR standard. If a guy doesn’t like that, maybe he should up his game rather than whining about it. Take the initiative or be quiet. Women aren’t there to settle for a broke-ass man.

I make 6 digits a year, and I know how hard I worked to get here. The idea of a man making as much as me, working hard to get to that point and then sharing his money with me is one of the few things that gets my panties wet.

42k a year is relative. Do you live in a small town where you can pay for everything and live comfortably on that? then yes thats fine. 42k a year where I live (LI/NYC area) isnt anywhere near enough. I have rough months sometimes and Im making double that.

I want to get a good job but I have no idea what to go into, what's even out there that is attainable in a very short time, and something that is attainable because I'm not smart especially in school.
