Is this sub right for me?

I am quite left wing. I watch The Young Turks on a regular basis, support policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, am outraged by the weakness of the Democratic establishment and the bending to corporate lobbyists from both parties, and have phonebanked for congresspeople like Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush. On the social issues, I believe in rigorous police reform, ending the war on drugs, and fighting back against all forms of discrimination.

A few years ago I used to be more concerned about misandry. I read about airlines not allowing men to sit next to unaccompanied minors, guys getting arrested for being on playgrounds, the potentially nebulous range of behaviors that constitute sexual harassment, consent laws that might lower the burden of proof, etc. Since then I've started to realize that some of these issues are not like the ways MRAs fearmonger about them and there are ways to solve women's issues like the wage gap or domestic violence or abortion without being more punitive or authoritarian. Also, some of the men's issues (especially those regarding suspicion around kids) are rooted in patriarchy.

I agree with you guys that painting a picture that it's always dangerous for women to walk alone at night can be problematic as it could be an impetus for draconian laws or a low bar for self-defense justification. That's why I sometimes cringe at accounts where women talk about how they always carry pepper spray and inconvenience themselves in certain ways (although I can understand if they live in a bad neighborhood).

The reason I'm skeptical about this sub is because I see a lot of criticism against feminists I feel is unwarranted. Don't get me wrong, there are a handful of uptight authoritarian "feminists" out there who may seek to criminalize catcalling on the street, have more "women only" spaces, and morally condemn video games that sexualize women. But this is not typical. I consider myself a feminist and like most others we aren't authoritarian. And although the focus of feminism may not be on men's issues, that doesn't mean we have to be indifferent. Being a feminist doesn't mean I only fight battles that disproportionately impact women. In fact I wouldn't even say that's my focus, but I still call myself a feminist for my belief that there should not be any gender discrimination.

By the way, I use the expression "FART" (Feminism Appropriating Reactionary Transphobe) instead of TERF Since they're more likely to be misandrists than feminists.

To conclude, is this sub right for me? If not, do you recommend a better one?
