It took me years to realize why I was "lonely", through a few LTRs, an almost-marriage, and a handful of FWBs.
During my late teens, I was not a ladies man. I was a loner and socially awkward. Once I hit 20, a switch went off and I had lots of female attention, and what I thought was all the right kinds. For awhile, I was loving it and thought it was great.
Then, halfway through my almost-marriage, I felt alone and depressed. My thoughts from youth were that human contact and intimacy would kill loneliness, but it didn't. After that ended due to her getting knocked up by a guy who was "just her friend" who I "had nothing to worry about", I had a string of FWBs, thinking it would kill the pain and emptiness.
Having empty sex was worse, for some reason. I felt pushed away and used, like nobody truly cared about me. The girls who would come over, would sometimes stay the night. We'd fuck, they'd pass out, and then push my arm off of them the next morning and leave for their jobs/life. I had no real connection with anyone.
Then I tried another LTR. Was great for awhile, felt like I was "in love" again, but that too turned sour when I found out she had a pill habit and a past I didn't want to be involved in. I'd spent just enough time to get to know her kids (single mother, dear god give me a time machine to go kick my own ass). It hurt to leave her kids, because they were cool, but I was so alone and hurt by the coldness she started to show me that I was actually happy to get out of that relationship.
Tried one final FWB after that, and was pretty bummed at how it gave me nothing. I was empty and alone.
This was before I ever found this MGTOW thing on the internet, but I had essentially decided back then to go my own way. I wrote off women, because I was realizing it was a waste of my time and they were doing nothing but damaging my mental health, I figured it was better to just be alone and accept that.
Then, I started to see the light. I began working on improving myself. I got my life together in a good way. I became happy once I realized that I enjoyed my company.
Been on this train ever since, and honestly have grown as a person tremendously. Now, I still have the biological urge, as any man will, and sometimes catch myself thinking, "Hmm, she's cute, maybe I should talk to her" but it almost immediately is followed up with a huge sinking feeling in my chest.
I get a terrible amount of anxiety thinking about the feeling of being locked down, tied up, and unable to do anything but be a slave, followed inevitably by the eventual cheating, lying and manipulation that would be sure to follow.
That feeling always, 100% of the time snaps me back to reality now. I shake my head, laugh, and thank the stars I've realized this way of life exists.
You see, the most lonely I've ever been was when I was in some form of relationship with a woman. In all of those relationships, I was forbidden from visiting myself.
Now that I've realized I can go my own way, and don't have to rely on the fairy tale that was fraudulently sold to me for happiness and fulfillment, I have seen leaps and bounds of difference in how I view the world and how happy I am.
I think when a guy realizes this, it has to be from his own experiences. Guys sometimes come on here and talk about how they still want to have a relationship, but also want to be MGTOW, like they're asking for us to tell them that it's okay, they will be the one who finds a NAWALT and will live happily ever after. I think guys cannot learn this concept from our words alone. They have to experience that moment of clarity where a switch goes off in their head, for them to truly appreciate what peace and solitude really has to offer.
It's kind of shocking how easily we can relate to each other here. I remember a few posts from awhile back, maybe a couple of months ago, where guys were talking about some terrible woman in their workplace.
There were guys writing out comments, with descriptions of women they also have in their workplace, and everyone was freaking out about how it could have been their very same workplace, referring to the very same woman, just due to the similarities.
To me, it seems that women have such a cookie-cutter nature, our experiences end up being super easy to relate to. It's almost as if... gasp... AWALT.
I just take it as a sign that society is failing. Things have become so fucked up, that these shitty people are fucking everywhere. It's not just women, either. The simps are just as bad and are as much to blame.
I think there was a time in our society when these aberrations were few and far between, and would have been "shocking" to hear about. Now, it's just commonplace to the point strangers on the internet can relate over them.
Have you seen any of the experiments on mice that were supposed to reflect upon society? It's shocking how many parallels the experiments brought to light between the mice, and our current society.
"Non Player Character". Term from gaming for characters in games who are controlled by the computer (no real human behind them). The term is currently trendy and used for usually "stupid" people not thinking for themselves.
