As a female I was always told about the variation of wages in college, especially my woman's studies classes but this is the first time anyone has explained why as oppose to just stating because of sexism and trying to get everyone riled up.

The lynchpin in the wage gap debate is defining equal work. Work isn't just your title, or your duties. It is your reliability, your experience, your actual productivity. Two.people with the same "job" still aren't necessarily doing the same work, be it water shifts they work, how many projects they manage, clients they laison for, how long they've been doing so(which makes them less of a liability when it comes to turnover ), etc. Snapshot data is almost aways misleading, and comparing women just entering the workforce to men that have been working twenty years or women who are the same age as those men but have spent the last 15 years out of the workforce is not comparing like for like.

Men get paid slightly more because they haggle more aggressively. However we EARN more because we work overtime and come in on extra days. We spend more time at work. Women don't.

I like /r/mensrights and I like what it's trying to do, it's important that movements like feminism don't go unchecked and it's important that legitimate men's issues get the attention they deserve.

Unfortunately, it's big enough now not to be able to distinguish between legitimate and semi-legitimate patrons and has the effect of information selection on any comments that don't follow the main. But that's missing the point of any group like /r/mensrights if you start to select information to support your arguments then you also need to be checked so how about you try and actually listen to alternating arguments and points of view.

This post is not correct. The balance of equal pay is derived from all employment and the imbalance is created by the highest payed jobs which are dominated by men. This is well known and cannot be disputed, however, this is not because of a partriarchic base of powerful men, it's simply the conditions left over by the past on a gradual transition to being more equal. Maternity leave has literally nothing to do with this statistic and is a red herring. Danger pay has an absolutely minimal effect on this statistic.

The pay gap is understandable with dangerous jobs, etc. But in office setting it isn't right for men to be paid more. However, women tend to be more family focused and this gap is their own doing, this is a statistic and doesn't paint and accurate picture of the situation and this happens to be a screenshot of very unintelligent women talking. Maybe all us ladies should focus on how much more time we get with kids and family rather than the lack of pay. Obviously there are some situations where a woman being paid less is blatantly wrong, such as when she works just as hard as her male coworkers and is paid less because it is assumed she isn't supporting herself and family alone, which is more common these days.

The problem with your argument is that blue collar contributes the least to that statistic, it's not adjusted for type of job. Also, maternity leave is paid and happens what... twice in a womans lifetime on average? Which women are waiting until after having children to start careers? A huge minority who aren't factored into the statistic.

Women are paid less than men, but it's changing so don't worry. But it is 100% true. Danger pay is a bullshit argument and ancilliary points about taking your kids to the doctors are social perceptions and not relevant to the discussion.

Edit: How about show me how I'm incorrect?
