Keep in mind it is not the girl's mother that is seeking support from him, it's the state. The lesbian is simply asking for support from the state, and the state is in turn extorting money from the donor.

A man being persecuted for an act of kindness happens entirely too often. If this was the other way around, a woman donating her eggs, I guarantee that it would not even be a discussion, the idea of her paying for child support would be absolutely ridiculous.

I completely understand why there is a need for sperm donation. Hell, I will go a step farther and say it is a proper need. Maybe not a lifesaving need such as blood donation. But when I sit back and think about all the different circumstances that can lead to someone needing to use donated sperm, yeah I get it. It isn't a joke.

But.....

This isn't the first story like this I have read. + the general negative way that the courts handle men when it comes to children and child claims and such. You have to be out of your fucking mind to donate sperm. Seriously, you are taking a gamble. It would be one thing if people were looking for money and the courts were laughing at them. But that isn't what is happening.

Trust doesn't matter. Papers that are signed with all parties agreeing the donor not having any responsibility does. Seems the more simple things are the harder it is for people to 'get it'.

Wait, so you have a couple that decided to become parents using another man's sperm. It's all agreed that the man is simply a donator, and the two women recognize they're undertaking the role of parenthood alone. The two women separate and the one with custody demands the guy pays for the kid, and not the fucking second mother? Way to shamelessly abuse someone's generosity and a loophole in the system. The saddest thing is, this guy doesn't actually seem to have a case for himself. He's gonna have to pay.

I wonder if /r/feminism has any opinions on this. If they're sane, they'll probably see how unfair this is. But I'm finding now that you can't rely on them to be sane.

edit: aaah ok, people were right to suggest questioning the Daily Mail; looks like the story is a lot different than what I thought it was. It was the CSA at fault, the mom just filed for support. She didn't say "Hey, go track down the guy who donated sperm to me." She just said "I need help". It was kinda framed like the mom was being an evil bitch. My jimmies are slowly being situated in an un-rustled position.

It's the Mail, so I wont trust all the details there. It sounds to me though that the problem is not the mother (nothing seems to show that she's involved in demanding this payment), but the CSA and the legal system. There doesn't seem to be any indication that the mother is denying this was the arrangement that was made between them. It's just a case that the law wasn't able to catch up to the realities of people's lives, and the CSA want to take the letter, and not the spirit of the law, and screw this guy with it.

So the men's rights issue is obvious but this is also a limit on the rights of the mother to have a baby without having to have some random guy involved in her life. It's an interesting angle because the government is normally so obsequious to "women's choice". Not if that choice is to let a man off the hook. Not even if it's completely reasonable and was agreed on. Not even when the old justification for fucking men over ("he had sex with a woman so he deserves to pay") fails.

Nope, no choice for her now.

TIL that there's one thing that will overturn the overwhelming desire of government to give women a choice, namely the even more powerful desire to fuck a random man over.

I'm sorry, but thats totally his own fault. You cant just sign a document that says 'I am void of all fatherly duties'. These women are vile and evil, and what they did is totally unacceptable, but I think the law is on their side.

Of course this shouldnt be happening, but he should have known the law, before doing that.

Law existed to protect sperm donors from from this exact scenario, but he circumvented those laws by donating directly AND not putting anything in writing between him and the couple.

Yes, it is tragic he is being extorted for his act of kindness but why are we as MRAs pushing for fair law of we then choose to circumvent those very laws meant to protect us?

I think we can all agree that while this circumstance is tragically unfair, it was as predictable as the sun rising in the morning.

The guy INTENTIONALLY fathered two children, and is now surprised to be getting stuck with child support. How is his sexual orientation even noteworthy...he actually fathered these children, there's far, FAR more egregious situations involving men paying child support for children they DIDN'T father.

I sincerely doubt this.

I went to a talk by a respected lawyer and professor of law who specialized in family law. The bulk of the talk focused on the fact that sperm donors "contract out" of having to provide for any children that their sperm may lead to creating. There's been several landmark cases regarding this that protect said sperm donors from becoming benefactors.

EDIT: Am I really being downvoted for presenting factual information on family law? What I speak is the truth... look it up idiots.
