This kind of post arose in an earlier period of this subreddit's existence, when around reddit it was widely considered a seriously defensible point that men are the primary abusers of children. In fact, it is women.

So, while you might think it intuitive now that "women can be abusive to children, just as much as men", that wasn't always a generally acceptable opinion.

Personally I don't have anything against women and even how men are portrayed in popular culture. It's the unevenness of certain laws that I think we should be focusing on. Probably the only thing we can realistically change as well.

The problem I have with this is the perception the article gives the woman relative to what a man would be given in the same circumstance. Rather than saying that the woman had a sick or deranged mind, she's a well thought of woman balancing a career and family life.

How would this be presented if a man where the one that killed the child, would there be the "caring and loving father" shown at all?

There's a perception that exists about why people commit crimes and why certain genders are expected to have certain kinds of crimes associated with them. The simple truth of the matter is, a crime like the one above shouldn't reflect a gender. Hell, it shouldn't go passed, "A person with a previous mental illness", but it will be sensationalized and rationalized regardless.

Hey. This 'woman dun evil' stories are a celebration of women's 'moral agency' rather then their 'moral passiveness'.

Now, if they had a few 'woman dun good' stories for balance... we'd be on the road to really breaking down gender stereotypes.

So, to all you people who have a problem with the 'woman dun bad' stories; why not submit some 'woman dun good' stories instead of complaining.

Let's destroy the notion that women aren't moral agents. And when that's destroyed, then women will be held accountable, just like men, for their moral choices.

While I'm normally happy to downvote the sort of submissions you're talking about, given that the specific story in question involved the most fundamental violation of two boys' rights that is possible for the most trivial of reasons, I think it might have a place here. It seems to me that being murdered because your mother was a psychopath probably qualifies as an "actual injustice".

seriously. i read the FAQ and the justification still doesn't make any sense. the men here bemoan how not all men are abusers, etc yet they highlight any crime by women to say 'see, all women suck!'. faulty logic at best and completely missing the point at worst.

the extremes are never the best position to take and when you do, you lose some of your argument's power; goes for "men's" and "women's" "rights". we're all human.

Or the motivation could have been something more along the lines of, 'A BOY was strangled to death, we are against bad things happening to boys and men, like murder, so this story is important'

Personally, I think it's good that this reddit has links that show that men and boys are targets of abuse and violence too. I don't see what's wrong with that link. It's not like the poster was all over the top, by saying something like, "Crazy lunitic of a MOTHER (of course), went and killed her INFANT son." No, the poster was very responsible about that. The title he/she gave the link didn't say anything like that.

I think you may be just assuming that motive on his/her part. Anyway, that's just my two cents.
