So I messaged your mod's to see if I should do this. One of them told me that I could if I wanted to, but yall might get a bit annoyed since apparently this happens a lot. The other told me to do it. That combined with some negativity at another subreddit has pushed me to do this.
I am a member of /r/TwoXChromosomes. I am not a feminist. The only thing I hate more than feminists are things and people who make me feel like a feminist. My personal opinion on most everything is that the genders should not be separated along gender lines. The only time I tend to believe in a separation of the genders are when it comes to anatomy and anatomy-related health issues. But I don't want to get into that right here.
2X has been giving me a lot of negativity lately for some of my opinions. 2X has also been feeding me a bunch of stuff about /r/MensRights. Not going to lie--I didn't like the sound of "Men's Rights" when I heard it. I even got into a spat with my SO about it, but again, I'd rather not get into that right here.
So, anyway, the point I'm trying to make is: A lot of negativity over at 2X has made me wonder what exactly /r/MensRights is. I have my presumptions, but I'd rather let the men of this subreddit tell me what it is they believe in so passionately.
I do not want to argue, or debate, or cause negativity or trouble. I am honestly curious in what it is you guys believe. Again, I have my assumptions, but in my experience, its best to go to the source. I won't fight with yall. I may not agree with what you guys say, but I want to hear you all the same. I'm happy to give you my opinions, as well.
As I said above, one mod told me that this sort of things happens pretty frequently. I'm sorry if this annoys, or offends, or pesters anyone. That is not my intent.
Thank you.
Edit: Again, thank you for taking the time to talk to me. I hope I did not offend anyone. I really appreciate your responses and your openness.
Here is the most important thing I've learned.
"Men's rights" does not mean patriarchy. It means equality. At least, I think it does.
Edit 2: Okay, well, save for one issue that I got a little worked up about and pressed some buttons with, I think this went pretty well. I appreciate the responses. I'm sorry again if anyone was offended or unhappy with my responses. I appreciate all of your responses and I think that asking questions is something more women need to do. I may not agree with all of your opinions or stances, but I do feel as though I have a better understanding of what this subreddit is about. Thank you all.

I can't answer your question, but I can say this; thank you for asking. Your message is polite and reasonable. You are not accusing /r/MensRights of being sexists, you're simply asking a reasonable question.
I hope /r/MenRights responds in kind.
I should also note that there have been many false-flag operations where posters have expressed extremists opinions in the hope of painting /r/MensRights in a negative light. Please consider each reply on its own merits.
(edited for my appalling grammar and spelling)
Thanks again for your question.

Am I incorrect, or did this incident not lead to a /r/MensRights redditor losing their job and eventually killing themselves?

oh ok. My understanding was that, essentially, the feminist trolls went after some guy at his work, and eventually caused his death. I would try to find the references in this reddit from a couple months ago, but I'm feeling a little lazy.

With respect to your points about men serving on the front lines, more men being CEOs and women being hyper-sexualized, there is no reasonable disagreement; it's all true. It's also true that the role of women in the military has greatly increased, that more and more women are CEOs and that women have a greater and greater role in politics, ranging from Maggie Thatcher all the way to Hilary Clinton. Women do not have the same prevalence in those roles as men, currently, but it's likely that they will and that's a good thing.
It is equally true that while women should be able to serve on the front lines, both genders should be subject to the draft. It is true that while women should be able to be CEO's, women should also serve equally in dangerous and life threatening "blue collar" occupations that are currently mainly served by men. It reasonable to suggest that men and women should have equal opportunity to get a post-secondary education. It is true that while women should be encouraged to take up careers in math and science, that men should feel free to take up careers in nursing without being called sissies or careers in education without fear of being accused of being a pervert.
With respect to men having nothing to complain about, I would simply point you to the list on the right side of this reddit under the title "Short list of the challenges faced by males".
As I have said previously, the fact that women face challenges, both historical and current, does not mean that men do not. In the opinion of this redditor, reasonable, respectful dialogue (such as that which you proposed in your original posting) is the only way for each side to see the other's point of view.

There is no question that historically, the rights woman have had, in comparison to men, have not been equal. Women have been deprived of many basic rights and men have enjoyed many rights that should apply equally to everyone regardless of gender (or race, or religion, etc)
However, the /r/MensRights reddit (and I'm speaking only for myself here), is not about the historical treatment of women, but about today's treatment of men and about issues of gender equality in today's society.
There are individuals on this reddit who feel that, in some areas, men are discriminated against today. Having said that, there is, or should be, room to acknowledge that in some areas women have not achieved full equality either.
One of the "straw dogs" that often comes up is "well women are still discriminated against in this way, or that". Most often is it true that the discrimination still exists, however the implication that when women are discriminated against, men are not, or that all men are party to the discrimination is simply not true.
Discrimination against women has existed for centuries and continues to exist. This reddit is a home for people who want to discuss another, but equally important topic; the rights of men. There is room for both.

I would like for all humans, regardless of gender to share the same rights. I would presume, therefore, that I would like the same rights as you would like.

Well i didn't chose the name of the reddit. I presume that the reason is that this reddit is about the aspect of human rights that affects men. Having said that, many of the opinions expressed here by the members are more representative of human rights than specifically men's rights.
I could see a case for exactly what you suggest.
