Movement reflection time, what is our movements most un-egalitarian belief and how can we rectify it?

Note: I'm just an observer. Not an MRA for various reasons.

The problem I see from the outside is the one that plagues most of the Feminist groups. Too much criticism of the opposing side and not enough positive action you can point to. Energy could be spent on raising awareness of things everyone can get onboard, such as prostate cancer screenings and suicide prevention, among other things.

Less defeatism and negativity and more positive action, is what I would suggest. Exclusionary movements are rarely successful.

Perhaps LPS?

Admittedly, men have suck (read: no) reproductive rights. However, I'm not so sure that legal parental surrender is a very good stance to take. A child's welfare truly does need to be the priority.

Honestly, though, I can't say with any conviction that I"m against it entirely either.

I feel for the guys who have been coerced into parental responsibility while they had no say in the reproductive outcome (beyond initially having sex which is not coupled with consent to parenthood).

So, I think just the controversial nature of that issue is enough to satisfy your title question, at least.

I haven't been here long but I've already noticed a few cases of people being heavily downvoted for saying things the majority here doesn't agree with.

I completely understand downvoting someone who's resorting to logical fallacies or who just throws logic out the window. That stuff doesn't contribute to any discussion.

But sometimes legitimate criticism can be raised, and I think instead of downvoting the people who raise it we should address what they say and explain why we disagree (or acknowledge that their criticism is valid). I think this sort of mass downvoting can make people feel like they're unwelcome to speak and no criticism of the MRA, regardless of how legitimate it is, is tolerated here.

I (and many people) despise feminists for only wanting to hear what agrees with them and shutting out the slightest criticism. It would not benefit this community's image (not to mention it's ability to question itself) to do the same thing.

Not an MRA, but I sometimes read the comments and titles for this sub. Your biggest problem: you focus on feminism too much. Four titles on this sub's front page right now are tagged re:Feminism, and every comment section I've read brings up feminism at least once.

I don't think the MHRM has any un-egalitarian beliefs. The MHRM's criticisms of feminism are that feminism isn't egalitarian enough and that it still clings to various components of the gender roles (thus being hypocritical).

If there is anything inegalitarian which can creep into men's issues discussion, it typically comes from Redpillers and/or other abusers of evolutionary psychology (note: there is a difference between USING evo psych and ABUSING evo psych). It also comes from gender-traditionalist "manosphere" figures but they are not part of the MHRM.

Perhaps something I could add is that a small underlying 'vibe', that it's ok to treat women in some contexts differently to men(in a discriminatory fashion). For instance reluctance to hire a woman because of a pregnancy/family risk.

Un-egalitarian belief ?

This is probably going to surprise some people but there aren't really any in the MRM. Hold on...I'm not saying we don't deserve some criticism. I'm just saying that this whole movement exist almost entirely because it seeks to address double-standards. It's not a return to traditional anything or a roll back of rights for women we're talking about.

The only thing that sorta irks me is when people compare fgm with mgm. Look, I get that it's a double standard and it's more serious than commonly perceived as well as being completely unnecessary. I'm just saying that in the worst cases of fgm they're removing a hell of a lot more than some skin. They're taking a sensory organ. I don't care how many arguments are made to the contrary, that's definitely worse than having your foreskin cut off. To me it's like comparing the removal of the tip of your finger with the complete removal of your hand. It's a ridiculous comparison to draw.

The most un-egalitarian belief is that a movement named "men's rights" is going to achieve equality. It's the same error that feminism makes.

Of course, in a world with feminism, there must be MRM to balance it. But this cannot (by itself) lead to true equality.
