This is why I think there should be two different words. Rape to me is when someone coerces you into having sex, whether by physical, emotional, or psychological force. The situation you describe, if it is classed as rape (I'm not familiar with the law), should come into a category of sex under deception, in which, while you consented to the sex, you did not consent to those particular circumstances.

And themountaingoat is right, either way, it is not okay, but there are inherent double standards.

Well, you are right in it being exactly the same. It is just almost impossible to prove, I would think, since the pill isn't 100% effective even when taken correctly.

The difference is that society doesn't hold women to the same degree of accountability as men. If the situation was reversed and a woman were using one of those diaphragms or female condoms and took it out without the guy knowing somehow it would not be considered rape. If a guy were to take some form of birth control pill and stopped taking it on purpose and got the girl pregnant, it would be considered rape. It's all about making sure women don't have any burdens placed on them.

There's another difference in that while both sexes can be forced into parenthood, only women can become pregnant, which is a cherry on top of loss of bodily autonomy.

Personally I think both are rape though.

It's not rape in any jurisdiction I've ever heard of. Some Feminists argue that it should count as rape, but there are feminists who argue that just about any sex should be considered rape.

Rape is about power from either gender. If she ripped off you and tried to get you back in her, at that point she is raping you. If she agreed to sex with a condom on because she did not want to get pregnant is it any different that a female ripping your condom off if she wanted to get pregnant and you did not want to be a father? We both want the consequence free pleasure of being able to just enjoy sex, but the reality is that it also makes babies, I can also be used as a form of control, and a form of violence, and it is also the most intimate way you can express your love for another human. With this all this power by both sexes, comes the responsibility to not have sex with crazy. So while the dream of no consequences casual sex seems like an ideal, the motives of people are very well hidden and they may be a blessing or a lifetime of hell.

Okay, so, here's what I don't get.

First, OP makes a glaring false equivalence comparing oral contraception to a condom, which is meant far more for protection against STDs than preventing pregnancy and the first comment is "Yeah, it's exactly the same!"...even though it's sexual assault when you take off a condom because of STD exposure.

I'm sorry boys, but what?

Secondly, when am I going to see you all circlejerk over how society holds men less accountable than women considering that reproductive coercion, condom sabotage and all that jazz is actually committed overwhelmingly by men? As in every study I've found has told me that men "Eggjack" women far more than women spermjack men? As in literally twice as often?

You're having sex. You've agreed that you are going to use a condom. If you change your mind partway through, take it off, and she doesn't want to anymore, that's rape, because she changed her mind. It has nothing to do with the condom being on or off.

Similarly, if you consented to having sex with her on the understanding that she's on the pill, it's your responsibility to be sure that she's actually on the pill, not the state's.

rape is non consensual sexual contact. the pill is only one of many forms of contraception and if a woman decides to come off it for any reason it is her own, because, ya know, bodily autonomy is a thing. it actually has little to do with the act of sex itself

and if the pill is your only method of contraception you're a dumbass anyway
