My ex wife will be served with paperwork to modify child support. I am currently paying $689 per month for one child, and I am asking the courts to modify the support to $222 per month as my child is no longer in daycare and I have recently lost my second source of income. I filled out the state work sheet for child support guide lines, and that is the number that I came up with.

My ex wife was planning on sending our daughter to private school, expecting to use the child support to pay for tuition (there are 50 public schools in my area, and 10 of those are AWESOME, and they all offer open enrollment (ie, you can send your child there and not live in that district)).

For a long time, my ex has been using the child support to supplement her income. The amount of child support I pay is enough to cover the cost of daycare and insurance, and still have $100 left over each month. This, despite that I have my daughter half of the time. I'm tired of it, and I'm asking the courts to change this.

Here is how I see it all panning out for the rest of the day...

100% chance - Angry phone call from the Ex.

80% chance - Face to face confrontation in front of my office

50 % chance - I will be served with a restraining order preventing me from seeing my daughter (because, as we all know, these are solely for the purpose of informing the other party that they are unhappy, and are a GREAT way of manipulating someone to get them to roll over and piss on themselves).

20% chance - That my ex doesn't drop my daughter off at my house tonight.

So MR, wish me luck, 'cuz I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing...

tl;dr - Served ex wife with paperwork to modify child support. Restraining order in 5....4....3....

Edit - It has been 12 hours and I haven't heard anything. Either the Sheriff's Office hasn't delivered the paperwork, or she has a better poker face than I give credit for (HIGHLY DOUBTFUL). Will keep you all updated. Thank you for all of your comments and support.

Edit 2 - A lot of people are making comments that I am asking for a ridiculous reduction. I AM NOT PULLING THIS NUMBER OUT OF THE AIR. I completed the worksheet that outlines child support amounts for my state (based on income of both parties, visitation time and special needs) and after plugging the numbers in, $222 per month is what came out.

Edit 3 - Papers have been served. First angry text message has been received. She is saying that I didn't factor in that she pays for our daughter's health insurance (I did, its part of the worksheet) and that I didn't show my pay increase at work (I did, I listed my current pay rate). The fun begins!
