eh... I don't think it's accurate. "women are generally not attracted to spineless wimps" is reasonable. Implications that the guys they are attracted to are necessarily bad or that spineless wimps are necessarily good are less reasonable.

Nah- it just comes off as dumb. There are many more categories than “bad boys” and “spineless wimps” and most men fall into those other categories.

I never know what you all describe as “bad boys.”

I went to high academic schools my whole life and everyone was always very FTO oriented.

None of these guys are “bad boys.”

I’ve heard a nerdier guy call my friend “an asshole” because he was bantering with us in the most innocuous fashion.

So safe to say I don’t trust what some people call “asshole” behavior. It seems if you’re not diffident and introverted you’re automatically “a bad boy” by men of Reddit. It’s a convenient strawman for men who struggle socially.

'Critism: and 'insults' are different things. Critism is highlighting flaws, whereas insults cause offense. Critism can be insulting but isn't necessarily. Insults are also not always critisms.

Saying 'women often go for bad boys' is not something I would consider critism or an insult. It doesn't seem to be said to imply it is a flaw nor do I take offense to it. I would disagree with it if you claimed all women go for bad boys or that ever woman desires them.

Because over at SJW subs like say, blue pill or whatever, people seem really offended by this thought process and shun the red pill because of it.

I don't think they shun TRP because they say women tend to go for bad boys. I think it's all the much more and factually incorrect stuff TRP says.

Tangentially related, but I consider liking bad boys to be pretty juvenile. I never liked them, and I think the segment of women who do shrinks with age. Not that they settle but secretly want a bad boy. But that they legitimately realize how stupid it is.

No. I don't think anybody, male or female, is attracted to overly agreeable doormats unless they have a huge fragile ego and need to be surrounded by "yes" people all the time. Men get annoyed at women who can never make a decision after all too.

The statement by itself? No. It's not criticism.

When men go around saying this it usually comes across annoying or at worst give them an excuse to act like a jerk to everyone. That is what bpillers don't like.

Also it's a misunderstanding of what is attractive. Being confident and assertive is attractive. But men who have those traits also tend to be "bad boys". Lots of women don't know that they started dating a "bad boy" until they are later into the relationship and already developed feelings.

Women are generally attracted to men who are confident.

A man who is confident and does NOT harm other people (is not "bad") is superior to a bad boy (for a sane woman with a healthy self esteem).

A man who is confident and not only doesn't harm other people, but helps them and pulls them up, is the epitome of self-confidence: he is not only strong enough to protect himself and achieve his goals, he has strength enough to help others.

I used to feel attracted to the nicest of confident guys when I was a teenager. Since they were the most attractive among the non-harmful, they always were successful with other girls ( I was pretty, but not hot and certainly not sociable).

When I was a teenager, I "fell" for a jerk. I was ashamed of it. I used to think I was smarter than that. I waited for it to end (and it ended the moment I got in contact with a confident guy who wasn't a jerk).

I used to hate myself for that. Luckily I knew myself enough to ignore it. The moment I fell for the jerk, I was surrounded by kids without self esteem or confidence.

So, yes, unluckily, stupid genes will make the attraction go for a confident man. Not necessarily a bad boy, but those dolts choose a confident jerk rather than a wimpy shy guy.

I wish I knew then what I know today. I wouldn't have needed to feel bad. And I would have been able to give advice to the good, shy guys, on how things work. Gain confidence, go to the gym (not for the muscles, mind you, for the confidence: girls should go too, I do), etc.

So... yes. It was one of the most galling facts of live I'd ever been forced to accept.

Now, if you're properly wired, the confident but GOOD man always, always, always trumps the jerk. The jerk had nothing to do against a guy with the same confidence and none of the jerkitude, because the jerkitude is a weakness.

Thankfully. Phew! That was great to find out, too. Because evil guy don't turn good, but good guys can be helped to become confident and mentally and physically strong.

I guess it's not a bug, it's a feature (you're not reproducing until you can prove you will be able to take care of the offspring against a hungry lion or violent enemy tribes). However, for it to work as a feature, it has to work at the same time than the logic programme that tells you to stay away from jerks from your own sake.

Eventually, one of the guys paid attentiion to me despite my habit of dressing up in loose clothes and not wearing any make-up ("Why don't you wear mini-skirts and make-up to attract this guy?" "Because if I attract him with make-up, then I don't want him"). Now I get all dolled up when I want to.

It's been 20 years since confident, good, protective guy asked me out, 10 since we got married. Yay. That's one point for logic.

You know what? I think Jane Austen is underrated. More people should read Sense and Sensiblity. They'd save themselves A LOT of heartbreak. People get themselves in terrible messes because they think they should go with their heart. I mean, you shouldn't go only with your brain: if a good boy is nice but you don't feel attracted, that's not going anywhere (save for a loving but sexually frustrating relationship for both). You have to find the companion that fulfills the requirements of both body and mind. If it implies waiting, then do.

The statement itself comes off as criticism of "spineless wimps," since those are the two most negative words in that sentence. I wouldn't call it "offensive," just a false dichotomy.

Now you've added in the lying, and you've changed "spineless wimps" to "nice guys," so your statement has changed. I think most women are not going to react well to "Women generally lie," and I don't see why that's surprising.

The problem is the word 'bad' doesn't mean what you think it means in this case. Also, typically women who are attracted to 'bad' boys are broken themselves.
