What did he mean by "harem"? A poly relationship, a bunch of plates who do their own thing but will answer a booty call or impromptu date, a constant stream of fuck buddies who bang him then leave, or dating numerous women at once but not letting them know?

If he meant a poly relationship, then I guess I have a harem of men... which again is just a weird way to think about it. The terminology is rather off-putting.

In the past (and I guess now Islamic countries and with the candyshop mansion guy), harems had an agreement.

The man PROVIDES for his many concubines, and is usually RICH. His concubines are usually poor, and appreciate having a comfortable lifestyle in exchange for sex and having babies.

They didn’t work full time at a shitty office job then come home and share an entitled husband with another woman. They lived in comfortable living quarters, had a financially secure way to raise their children, and if the man they were concubines for was important enough, like a king, their kids could use their bloodline to get important jobs in the future such as military general, wife of a well off man, lady in waiting, etc.

Edit: if you’re just some random guy, you can’t expect a ton of women to have sex with you Nd only you. You should be open to having her sleep with other men too. I’ve seen a few poly RELATIONSHIPS on the Internet with 2 girls and 1 guy, but usually the 2 girls are also bisexual and sleep with each other and they are pretty egalitarian.

It’s quite difficult to maintain a roster of casual fling women.

Mostly because those women will eventually move on, enter an LTR, bore of you, or simply not be in the space for sex as much.

If a guy wants to do this his “roster” has to be immense because women will typically only call on him, on their schedule and convenience.

It won’t be consistent and regular.

When guys think of harems they think of situations where the women are dependent on him for funds and living — husbands with multiple wives or kings with 100s of concubines living on his estate.

The modern day equivalent being Hugh Heff or that Daniel Blitz guy or Taz's Angels.

If you aren’t bankrolling her livelihood, most men have no leverage in maintaining multiple women lol.

I think in the Quran, it says a man shouldn’t have more than 3 wives and the logic being this — if you can’t afford the women and can’t manage your time to spoil and please all of them, you don’t deserve multiple women 😂. I also believe the logic was more social welfare, well off men would add a widow or unmarried sister in law as his wife to help provide for her kind of thing.

So yeah it’s hard; and for the majority of men, prob more inconsistent and exhausting than getting drunk, waiting for last call, and having a ONS.

Looking back, I realize I wanted a harem of sorts as well when I was younger. I had my 4 or 5 female friends I hung out with, and I wanted them to be 'my girls'. I got upset when one of them got involved with another guy, and of course upset that I was restricted from behaving how I wanted with them myself. From my perspective, this wasn't demeaning - I liked them; I chose them over other women, some of whom may have been more physically attractive, but I didn't care, I liked these ones. It's taken hindsight to understand just what I really wanted, as I could never make it fit into the accepted paradigms of 'I want a relationship with this one' or 'I want to hook up/have NSA sex.'

You pump and dump if they're not attractive enough for FWB.

2-3 fwbs at once isn't a "Harem". And no, it's not hard or easy or anything to do with a difficulty setting. Usually a girl will stop wanting an FWB type relationship when they start getting serious with someone else, or they will start getting feelings for you (or the other way around). Whether or not a woman wants an FWB relationship is not up to you, it depends on where she is in her life and what she currently wants. Early 20s women are almost always up for a FWB situation if they have sex with you to begin with.

3) Is it hard to keep women around?

Same answer here really.

4) What's the effect of harems on the SMP?

I don't think there's any. Women aren't exclusive to certain men in those types of FWB situations.

If a man is rich enough and the women need the money enough, then a man can likely have an old-fashioned harem where the women are loyal to him. If he’s just really good looking, he can have a harem, but most of those women are probably not going to be exclusive to him and will be sleeping with other men too. Of course, many women would never knowingly be part of a harem no matter how rich or handsome the guy is.

use plausible deniability and spin plates. not a lot of women will want to openly be one of your 3 co-girlfriends.

but if you're not rubbing it in their face that you're not exclusive with her and fucking multiple other girls, it's much easier to maintain. don't ask don't tell.

it won't last indefinitely, but you can delay "the talk" by only seeing each girl once a week or so and doing a minimal amount of more romantic coupley type activities.

Why would a woman want to be in a harem with a regular guy unless she had a kink for it? What do they have to gain from staying in a harem when they can get a lot more from of men in monogamous relationships? I can see why some women would be happy in a harem for a guy with celebrity status, but most women do not get that opportunity.

Anyway, i have the same experience in being a non-monogamous guy. The vast majority of women will not continue to have casual sex with you unless they think it will turn into monogamy. You can try to keep multiple regular fuck buddies, but most of those women will rotate out very quickly once they see that you aren't going to marry them. I dont blame them because im not offering what they want in the long term.
