Men with options are more likely to cheat though, since more women are making themselves available to them.

Taller men are literally more likely to cheat

Not saying cheating is guaranteed but women's pre-selection is not doing them any favors.

This makes no sense. The guys I know who are, lets say, heavily "preselected" (ie, are very popular) are the least monogamous. Or they are monogamous in extremely short bursts. This is because they've had women make themselves available to them all their adult lives, and they've usually received continuous positive regard from men and women all their lives (from childhood on) based on their looks.

Also, men aren't like women; and average woman can be a sort of personal "superstar" (in terms of desirability) in an average man's life. I believe the reverse is also possible but perhaps not with the women on PPD.

When pre-selection leads you to choose a man who has options and self control, yes. When it leads you to a promiscuous man, no. Even worse if he is married.

Pre selection is double edged sword,

You don't need to plant the unknown seeds, water the plant, and wait for years for it bear fruit, only for it to be the sour kind. BUT there is a good possibility of it being YOUR exclusive tree.

You can save your precious youth, by selecting a tree with the fruits you want. BUT its not something you can keep to yourself alone, its a shared tree. You know this because it already betrayed its original farmer at least.

HOWEVER, even the seeds you nurture with your heart and soul can become a shared tree.

Then why not just embrace that type of outcome, then you have nothing to fear. Join a harem

Your way of thinking is flawed, More options = More likely to cheat it's very simple. And no not every guy would cheat given the opportunity.

Fair, but you do realise that you are basing your choice on how others have evaluated him? What happens if others have performed a lousy analysis of him?

I would then know he picked me for good reasons and that he wont leave me or cheat on me the second he gets another option.

In theory, this would be true, however, history seems to suggest that men that have options usually choose to pursue quantity over quality.

Why would being the only option mean you were picked out of spite? That makes no sense.

Is a complete non starter. Even if he has options, how do you know he picked you for you, and not out of spite? He could have picked you to spite a previous lover, to spite some other girl that he knew wanted to be picked, to spite himself because he doesn't think he deserves better.

Preselection is as full of holes and misconceptions as "nice guys" thinking.

Stop worrying about being "settled" for, and start worrying about if your relationships makes both of you happy. Trying to establish some kind of relationship hierarchy will lead to resentment and ruin.

Preselection makes zero sense.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but its way more probable that if you are going to be cheated its by a man with options. A man without them will hold the woman he has as tight as posible as he knows he wont be able to replace her nearly as easy.

Remember than if you are thirsty, a glass of water is way more worthy in a desert than in a spring.
