Some of the most attractive people have majorly unattractive children. And vice versa.

I don’t think standards are rising I just think everyone is falling behind. 40 years ago it wasn’t a high standard to say you want a man or woman who is skinny because everyone was skinny.

40 years ago it wasn’t high standards to say you want a man with a good stable job but now it is because a lot of men in their 20’s either don’t want to work or want to work “self employed” jobs like door dash and Amazon.

Unattractive people are having sex with unattractive people. If anyone procreates is a decision today and not a result of sex and relationships per se. If you think your attractiveness level is the reason you don't have a partner or sex, or children, you are the one who has too high standards.

In 1960, there were ~15% of never married men. Subtract a few percentages for the very young men who are yet to find a partner and marry, and you end up with about the same percentage of incels that we have today. Almost every average person who wants to find a partner does so today. There is no alarming rate at which people are left out of relationships and especially not due to "rising standards".

"Average" is drastically different than it was 30 years ago. The average now looks like Patton Oswalt. People thirty years ago took care of themselves. Unattractive has never been trendy. Short and fat has never been attractive. Guys need to wrap that around their dumb heads.

The decline in pairing rates and quality is a serious potential issue. But we need to be careful not to jump the gun on causation. How much is it rising female selectivity? How much is it economic conditions? What about general social atomization? What about men underperforming not just relative to women, but in absolute terms? And if women are becoming more selective, how much is artificial amplification from social and technological change, and how much is just women's innate nature manifesting as it is finally being freed from the need to trade sex for resources? Lots we do not know IMO.

There has never been a time where any average person found it easy to find a partner. Dating and finding a person you want to partner with long-term has always been fraught with a certain amount of stress and angst for most people.

I'm talking 30-40 years+... When most of the unattractive of us will be either dead, too old to date, or have an ai robot partner.

Hard to say exactly, because VR, androids, and gene editing, etc. may exist, and these technologies can drastically change the game like never before. However, I'll assume they won't exist to emphasize our current situation. As it is now, hypergamy is going to continue to increase. Women are going to become even more selective, and as a result, they will likely become polygynous, and polygamy will be legalized (this is already drastically increasing in correlation with female selectiveness). I expect the majority of men to become even more isolated as a result.

That's largely already the case, but it will become worse. Just under 60% of men currently reproduce in the west, and it will go back down to historical averages.

Will the population eventually stabilise?

Or will a new terrible trend like really fat calves suddenly become an attractive highly desired trait and once again the genetically misfortunate will be doomed to a life of solitude again.

Competition will always exist. It doesn't matter how much men improve, hypergamy will always select for the best male traits.

I think it's really only societal changes mainly social media which are the reason we haven't naturally adapted as quickly and now the majority of us are considered unattractive.

Social media is not responsible for women being highly selective. It is their biology, and while social institutions can attempt to control it - ultimately, hypergamy is their true nature.

Standards are increasing for people that spend too much online comparing the perfect people with the average populace. I feel like for people that haven’t rotted their brain they’ll be fine.
