I think what we should really say is that the average man desires the average women more than the other way around due to differences in sex drive/hormones/etc.

That does lead to the appearance that the average women is more attractive, yes, but it is more due to men, not women necessarily being more attractive.

If men and women had equivalent sex drives we wouldn’t see this happen.

I don't believe this is true at all. The average man is simply more willing to have sex with more women than vice versa for whatever complex biological reasons. Also, women wear make up which skews things heavily.

It’s not that the average man is less attractive than the average woman it is that the standard for a man to be considered physically good enough is much higher than the standard for a woman to be considered physically good enough. If you take an objective male and female six Who are both clearly on the same level in terms of looks when you see them standing next to each other, put them in a full nightclub. The female six will get plenty of attention from men. However the male six will be ignored by women despite the fact that he is still conventionally above average.

And honestly? Forget The female six even the heavyset girls who are overweight and out of shape are getting real confident now too. And guess what? that high self-esteem had to come from somewhere. 😓

There are more men than women in the western world in the 18-35 demographic. That is why women date up and men date down. If you go to countries where there are more woman than men in the 18-35 demographic then you are more likely to see looks matched couples and if the guy has money or status, even dating up. This is why it seems like average men and average women are not equal.

One time, I saw a small group of people agree that women were more attractive than men. So much so infact that women are attracted to women, twas there logic.

To be fair, women are viewed as more trustworthy and cleanly relative to men. What's not to be attractive about them on aggregate, relative to men? The same could be said for the stereotype of a gay man.

I would argue that men on average are more attractive than women. And this is coming from a very straight guy in a relationship lmao.

I do think that women on average put waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more effort into their appearance and thus come off as more attractive. But on pure natural looks I think us men win.

Thats the issue... if a guy saves you from a lion, who cares how well fitted his shirt is? In the 1950's for example, if a dude had a house and lived through WW2, who cares if we walks with a limp, or has brown eyes, or does bird watching as a hobby? Today a lot of those things would be dealbreakers for women, so if the game is based on beauty today, then of course men are going to lose. Hence why so many are choosing to to play.

When I see this I always wonder why no one ever says that maybe men aren’t supposed to be “pretty” like women. If you said the average man is stronger than the average woman everyone would say “duh that’s natural women aren’t supposed to be strong.” I see pressure being applied to men to be as “attractive” as women, but for what? So you can have a bunch of “pretty,” but useless, guys? We should be telling men to be capable, strong, competent, knowledgeable. But we seem to focus a lot on physical looks.

I say this Everytime this debate comes up, this is solely due to the makeup/plastic surgery industries.

Average women without the facade are on the same level as average men.

This is also why I advocate for more men to work out, and grow a bit of manly stubble. If you want to be on the same level as women, you have to put in the same level of effort.

Because most men don't do anything to enhance their looks compared to most women is the only reason we see a discrepancy, and is also the reason "women only want the top 20%" Only about 20% of men have muscles, maybe less, while a vast majority of women wear makeup.

The average woman wears much more makeup, places much more attention to how she dresses, and has more social media savvy than the average man. If women didn’t, then they would be much less attractive to the average man.

For example, gay men see men as attractive as men see women, and they’re much more likely to find average men sexy and worth having sex with.

Without the context of a personality, skill, status etc, most men are "meh". Look at men that women are obsessed over. Almost none of them are in male model category.

Men put a ton of effort into their appearance, it's just that part of that effort is trying to look like it's effortless because women value how "natural" a trait is a lot more than men.

Men have different standards than women and that creates a different set of incentives that makes it hard to compare the two sides directly...but gay men have fairly similar incentives to women and I'd argue the average gay man does a significantly better job of meeting men's standards than the average straight woman does. The opposite situation is more debatable but I'd argue that gay women do a worse or comparable job of meeting women's standards than straight guys do.

So by that logic, I think men are more attractive than women on average, women just confuse their pickiness with men being worse.

It's pure subjectivity, it can't really be measured.

It's more useful to speak about perceptions that about who is or isn't attractive.

Whether it's true or not, if you're a guy trying to impress a woman, you're in a worse spot than a woman in a comparable position. And that's how it is.

The only things that can really help you are enforced scarcity (only guy in the office situation) and even then, that just makes you noticeable, not necessarily more attractive.
