Start with the “book of pook”. It was one of the first comprehensive texts, which came out in the late 90s/early 2000s. You can browse through the Sosuave which is one of the earliest pick-up forums.

There have been plenty of books that came out prior in terms of seduction and dating, but if you’re talking specifically Red Pill and the vernacular that is used and all that, refer to the links I provided.

As for the original sub, It was heavily moderated, gate-keepy, and hierarchical. New users would often see their posts taken down and be redirected to the askTRP sub.

A collection of about 10-12 posters (the only name I can remember is GayLubeOil) would do the majority of the posting. They were pretty unapologetic about their rules too. Don't like it? Don't come here.

Overall, I don't think the gatekeeping was necessarily bad as it kept the sub from being drowned out by "anger phase" newbies, which is most of what the RP exists as today, and why it's a rich vein of misogynistic quotes the mainstream can easily mine. Old RP was much more subdued and analytical.

Here is the evolution as I remember it (going to reveal my decrepit age now)

Ross Jefferies writes “how to get the woman you desire into bed. Mostly based on very old NLP techniques (~1992)
alt.seduction.fast newsgroups start (-1994)
PUA term coined sometime around (~1997)
“Magnolia” comes out with Tom Cruise playing TJ Mackey a fictional version of Ross Jefferies doing boot camps for proto-incels. (1999)
“Mystery” begins posting audio recordings of his approaches to PUA forums. Coins terms that still exist today like “negging”, “peacocking”, “freeze out”, “set”, “openers” etc (~2000)
PUA era begins. People like “Tyler Durden” etc start showing up and it becomes a weird “community”. This goes on for about a decade with no real fanfare.
“The Game” by Neil Strauss comes out (2005)
“The Pickup Artist” debuts on VH1 (2007)
By 2010, it’s widely recognized what ridiculous grifters figures like Mystery and “RSD” are.
PUAHate is born in a backlash to PUA grifters. (2012)
Red Pill branches off from PUA around the same time.
Sites like return of kings, chateau hertiste emerge codifying lots of RP ideas
PUAHate grows and coins terms like “blackpill” (derived from red pill) and most importantly popularizes the term “Incel” as it is understood current definition. (2013)

This was the first time I heard of Red Pill as some RP blogger wrote that “Eliot Rodger would not have done what he did if he had learned about RP”
Trump becomes the republican nominee and the Reddit RP forum becomes a political circle jerk more than a place to discuss “sexual strategy” (2016).
TheRedPill sub quarantined on Reddit. (2018)
In the wake of banning / quarantining RP space, figures like JBP, FnF, and Andrew Tate become more and more popular.

Which leads us to today, there some inklings of acknowledgement from non fringe thought figures (like Scott Galloway and Chris Williamson) that “something is wrong” for young men, but no real attempts to address it have occurred and the “women good / men bad” narrative is as strong as ever.

Result, extremists continue to dominate the discourse while moderates get shouted down or cancelled.

At its core the RedPill is the “understanding of human nature, more specifically women’s behaviors.” Through various of terrible data and study collecting methods. The OG Redpill around a decade or so ago, was closely tied with the PUA and seduction community. The idea was that ANY guy could be an “alpha male” if he put in the work,self improve, and learn “Game.” It was really popular with the older millennial generation that were college ages at the time.

Lately, they’ve made a slow shift towards the Blackpill and MGTOW, where the focus is mostly on improving Looks, Money, Status, and genetic determinism. The new figure heads are bigger grifters than the old retired ones, by persuading their audience to buy their one of a million “creator kits” and donating hundreds of dollars to their corny podcast shows where they mostly invite women with extraordinary lives to dunk on them for clips.

The Redpill doesn’t have any lasting power due it’s shifting identity, but for some reason their detractors don’t know how to combat or turn men away from it.

Original Red Pill from like a decade ago was about "Unplugging from the Matrix" or "escaping the Plantation." It was basically any idea or moment of clarity in which a man would realize he is getting screwed over by the system. That the game is rigged against you.

What System you ask? What game?

The Corporate, Education, Media, Job, Wage, Government, Politics, Military, etc etc... systems. These are all carnie games where you don't win. They are all rigged. They're all just meat grinders with sophisticated whistles and bells to hype and excite impressionable, young, and gullible men into participating so that the operators of these scams can profit.

And what Game? The Dating Game of course! Dating was also a subset of the many systems in which men play with the hopes of winning something. When it all started to go to shit is when incels got wind of the movement (Incels pre-date the Red Pill).

Incels (the nerdy kind) thought they could apply actual economic modeling and game theory models to improve their chances of winning in these love games, and that is how this Faux Red Pill we have today was born; full of dorks and idiots who think they can "improve their game" like the suckers that they are and who just can't seem to figure out that it's rigged! This is also why there is this autistic use of stupid language amateurishly borrowed from pseudo-scholarship economics: BMI, Maintain Frame, N-Count, 80/20 Rule, Alpha, etc. Yeah, because nothing says "sexy" more than some fucking quadratic equation.

This is the Original Red Pill. Not this cringe fest of female-obsessed discussions as if women are the center of the universe and that the meaning of life is Women. If that is your mentality, then you are lost, and you have just been Red Pilled! You are now aware of the scam. And once you see how the magic trick gets done (or how the hot dog is made) you can never unsee it. Now you know one truth, go find the rest of it!

Imo original “red pill” as we know it starts with rollo Tomassi and his first book , but it ended once Myron Gaines rejected the redpill. He was the last non grifter.
